Lots of solid advice but I noticed one thing missing. Anti military bias in the family courts. Understand that if you are in and for whatever reason you have to go before any family judge, most of them carry an anti military and anti veteran bias. Oh, and this was in Texas and Oklahoma, two of the reddest and republican states in the union. Lots of my OIF and OEF brothers were not treated evenly or fairly in family court. As long as you understand this, godspeed brother.

I was told something awhile ago that helps me sometimes. All of my time, all of my experiences, my marriages, my old jobs, etc. were not wasted time. Rather they were the road, full of potholes, up hills and down hills that led me to the person I am today. I struggle today even with thinking about the wasted time but I have to remember this.

Not anything about me specifically, but I was on a plane yesterday. As the flight attendants were picking up the drinks at the end of the flight, the lady next to me in the window (I had middle) had a soda and I had a coffee. I offered to put her soda cup into my coffee cup and hand it to the flight attendant. She thanked me and the look in her eyes (we were both wearing masks) was one of pure gratitude and disbelief. I felt so bad for this woman, wondering how bad has her interaction to strange…

As an older military veteran, I saw a lot of military spouses from various countries brought back to the US and this is exactly what happened. I did a quick experiment and was quickly getting calls to ban me. For experimental sake, I pushed my comments to the extreme to see how quickly the reactions and to see just how serious people took themselves. I wasn't surprised nor disappointed. We now return to our regularly scheduled program.
