i grew up with an abusive father and parents split up when i was 12. what i felt lacking growing up in my adolescence is any sense of direction, felt really lost what to do with myself/life. also self esteem was completely fucked coz of him. i feel like masculinity is giving young men a sense of purpose and to have confidence in themselves for whatever that purpose is. kind of just rambling tho but yeah thats my take on it
