99% is very high, if you’re going to make up statistics you’d be better served using more realistic numbers. I have a friend who was shot in the foot with a .22 and it passed between the bones and just left him with a bit of scar tissue. He isn’t disabled (from that). I would wager that more than 1% of gunshot victims come out without a lasting disability. 1.1%, 1.5% maybe even.

Oh yeah it sucks bad, I’m not saying getting shot is a trivial inconvenience, just that the assertion that 90% of shooting victims in the US die is false. Also I bet it’s less than 99% disabled as well. They all leave scars, but plenty of people take a through-and-through to a limb or adipose tissue and gate otherwise fine after they heal up. Medicine is amazing.

Former Arborist here. I climbed up trees with a chainsaw and dismantled them with ropes and things. Neat job. Women are rare in the industry, but some do absolutely they excel at the climbing portion of the job. They’re light and nimble and can tie knots and walk on thin branches and run a chainsaw. Awesome! Maybe very rarely, but I don’t see what would inspire a corporation to do that short of major public support for the worker. They’re expendable. A dime a dozen is the going rate and the big chains get a discount. You can train a new manager for so much less money than defending against a lawsuit it isn’t even funny.
