Your statistics expose nothing more than the historical prominence of male privilege and the fact that, typically, women make different choices than men.

"I will die if I can't be with this girl" I didn't say this, where did this come from? The analogy to mock execution was just an analogy. I even stated that "To a far lesser extent...". You're right in the sense that it was a choice but a choice isn't so much free will when it's influenced so heavily by manipulation. I had no self-worth, I was completely drained of confidence and thought that this emotionally abusive girl was the best I'd ever have. The reason I felt this way was a result of her…

Hey, read my post's edit regarding the self-harm. Also, I didn't believe I would die. The whole mock-execution analogy was just... An analogy. It's quite similar to a much lesser degree. I also must disagree with the first thing you said. I did this so that others may see what an extreme form of gaslighting looks like and perhaps they can identify it within their own relationship. I haven't seen anything about mock breakups here before.

I didn't and that was once. :)

Yeah, severed the superficial radial nerve which supplies sensation to the top portion of my hand. They attempted to repair the nerve but had to cut even further into my forearm to find the end so I have this weird pattern of scars. Put it this way, if normal sensation is 10/10 then my hand would be around 2/10.

No, of course. It was a combination of a couple of things but the most prominent was the emotional abuse which ultimately led to severe depression. I didn't cut myself to feel the pain, nor for attention (nobody knows it was intentional). I did it to see myself bleed, it's difficult to explain. It wasn't even meant to go that deep but once the skin is broken the knife goes through flesh like butter. It was 2 years ago, I was depressed and stupid. I've never done anything like that before nor wil…

You're probably right, regardless it was extremely cruel.

Christ dude, that must have been tough with the pressures of both marriage and having a child in the picture. I'm sorry you had to go through that kind of emotional abuse.

Also, I'm clever enough to know that a horizontal cut to the topside of one of my forearms is extremely unlikely to result in exsanguination!

I should have explained better to be honest. I didn't threaten anything; she doesn't even know, to this day, that I did it to myself. As far as my friends and family are concerned it was an accident. Only myself and Reddit know now. It was my first and last experience with self-harm and wasn't for attention, nor was it exclusively about the girl.

Nah dude, the girl in my story doesn't know about the arm incident. Nobody does. I told everyone it was just an accident (some secretly don't believe me, like my parents etc). I've never self-harmed before or again. It was certainly not for attention and not exclusively because of the girl either.

I'm not familiar with that, can you explain?

I blame her for the methods she used to nurture control as it was a very extreme case of emotional abuse. I'd blame her if she were to continue that with other men as well. But when you're in that situation it's not easy to harden up and walk away! In fact, it's damn near impossible. It takes a long time and a lot of commitment for someone to replenish their self-worth enough to end it. I've learned from it now though.

Yeah, it was quite toxic thinking back. I'm glad it's over and I've learned.

Wow, what a perfect way of dealing with it. It's surprising how much TRP can help you become a better man.

Wow, I've never seen a more drastic example of jumping to conclusions! I've never cheated on her, you should probably think before you post.

Yup, I did the same. Told her if it happens again then it's for real. She broke down and told me it was "just her way of getting me to change". Bullshit, it was emotional abuse at its peak, fuck you.

Shit man, the same situation. The girl I was with was a 9 too! She knew the power she had over men and I guess it consumed her to do what she did to me.

Yeah, it's been around a year now since the arm thing. The plastics at the hospital I was referred to were very good. They repaired the tendon, allowing use of my thumb again. But I'll never feel the top-side of my hand again. I don't brush it off though, I can see how damaging it was to be with her. The difficulty in deciding whether or not it was intentional is that she's young and relatively stupid for her age!

I'm just glad it's over now, and I've learned.

This is great advice, I did go nucluear eventually. I recently finished it with her for good. I was operating in her frame for years, in an emotionally abusive relationship. No more!

I've already read that. I'm looking specifically for techniques, some kind of direction.

"Jealousy is a tribute the mediocrity pays to genius." I'm not saying you're a genius but if you're getting girls and he isn't, he's probably just jealous.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
