I actually found this trend as well. Generally it's women who are lower on the attractiveness spectrum that enter male dominated fields. This is because they won't receive the validation they seek from men in other fields that are equal part male and female. Less competition for them.

If you're training for aesthetics this 5x5 is not what you're looking for. He has the right idea with progressive overload (adding weight/reps every week). However, if you want to put on size you're going to have to train for hypertrophy (rep ranges from 8-15, changing weekly & adjusting weight accordingly to the rep range - this will allow you to keep shocking your muscles into growth).

With your frame I would recommend a caloric surplus of 400-600 calories. This falls under a "dirty bulk" but since I'm guessing you're an ectomorph you can afford to do this & won't put on much fat. The most effective way to put on muscle is to dirty bulk for a longer period of time. You can supplement in mini cuts to keep the "athletic look".
