Which is why I know it's not a popular opinion, and isn't something I so firmly believe that I'm willing to die on that hill. When it's beyond a shadow of a doubt that they did this and are guilty, appeals should be limited to one in an attempt to change your sentence, and that's it. Even then, I'd much rather an innocent person die than let a guilty one go free, since that guilty person is likely to cause far more death and pain than just one innocent life.
