The great thing about boundaries is that they double as a filter

I’m only speaking from my divorce experience in California (where i was the one having to pay), but yes…only what is gained DURING the marriage is what is split. His company he owned before wouldn’t be considered community property, only the value it accrued during the time of the marriage would have to be split.

It won’t work that way, she’ll only be entitled to however much more the business became worth during the time of their marriage. Another reason not to help a man build something without legal protection for yourself.

I think you’re being really hard on yourself in the comments. The reason to always vet is because people do a good job faking things at the beginning. This isn’t your fault, and forcing the exclusivity conversation and exposing him is doing the work. And the work is HARD, which is why so many women don’t have that convo or just keep taking crumbs. Great job, sis.

A man afraid of periods is a GREAT filter. It’s a lesser talked about way to snuff out LVM.

I did this today. There was a lot right but i just didn’t feel the passion. It’s painful, but it burns so good knowing I’m being true to what i deserve.

Nothing more empowering than owning your own home. I’m working on number two, and I’m entirely self made. It’s unreal how men in their 40s are still sharing their rented two bedroom apartments.

Hell yeah, sis. Well never stop telling women that they don’t have to suffer shitty treatment at the hands of men who dgaf about them. They can stay mad.

Lol what an idiot. Giving you the idea of finding his employer on LinkedIn and showing them that message. I’m sorry that happened to you. You might already do this, but i ALWAYS FaceTime with someone i meet OLD before meeting them in person. It saves me a lot of time.

I’m so thankful for this sub. I see everything more clearly and i know that i will end up with someone truly amazing because of the self worth i have now. Thanks to the mods who work tirelessly to give us this safe space to learn from and encourage each other.

Isn’t it so lovely when you don’t even have to do any work to realize what a complete loser they are? I really appreciate this type of honesty in a profile.

I only have women doctors to the extent i can possibly control it. Primary, gyno, therapist... not interested in a mans opinion more than i have to have it.

I left my husband last year and he is taking half the equity i own in the start up i work for. I had to buy him out of the home that i saved all the money for while i was traveling 8 months pregnant trying to hit bonus numbers. Ladies who are financially successful or plan to be...think long and hard about marriage and the legal consequences. Do not marry someone you wouldn’t get into a business relationship with, and do not romanticize marriage beyond what it is, which is a legal contract.

Anything hostile towards women “If we match then you better meet me in person” “No i won’t follow your Instagram!” “If we meet and you don’t look like your picture you’re buying me drinks until you do!”

Time to collect all that love you were giving away and bring it on home. Throw yourself into work, staying active, being a good friend, redecorating the house, gardening, any and all projects to keep you busy and away from your phone. Then when you’re ready, just get back out there and keep dating. Men are like buses, there’s always another one coming. You don’t need to live life wondering how someone is feeling or if they are into you. It’s stressful and unfulfilling. You got this girl.

You can’t sacrifice your life to enable this user forever. It’s not sustainable. You’re not really doing him any favors by supporting him and staying with him while he is making absolutely no effort to better himself. Move out, stay with your parents. Get some space, get some perspective. He seems extremely manipulative and you need to separate yourself so you can fully grasp the “marriage” that you are actually in.

My son got a hold of one of my old dolls from childhood and was kissing it and rocking it and singing it rock a bye baby. He’s 2.5. I had already bought him his own for Christmas cuz i had a hunch he’d love it, He is the most HVM i know!

And then you are also never at risk of sharing custody with some loser who uses your child as a pawn to get back at you for realizing you deserve better.

I cheated on my husband. I was miserable, under appreciated, overworked from being a mom and the breadwinner, completely sexually repressed and honestly really weak. I regret it, it all totally blew up in my face and i paid dearly for my mistakes. I am a human being who thought i could set aside all my needs for the sake of my family and i was wrong. I realize a lot of people will say that makes me low value and honestly i am ok with the judgements. I would have thought the same about other peop…

It’s honestly kind of hard to summarize. The author uses folk tales from all different cultures to describe the archetype of a “wild woman”. The overarching theme is how women have deeply intuitive psyches and deep spiritual/emotional needs that we often don’t listen to or prioritize. The book offers advice via anecdotal stories on how to live a “soul life” that is based around real connection and authentic happiness.

Most glaring: Speaking of his past relationships- “Looking back on them I am like, wow, I really fucked that up”. Red flags are usually not subtle.

My husband frequently tells people i left him because he didn’t make enough money. Which just goes to show how much he was not listening to me. I left him for half assing everything, including his career, while he let his pregnant wife shoulder the burden of the financial responsibility. It was his lack of effort that was so unattractive, not the dollars and cents.

I am going through this for basically the first time in my adult life. I read a book that said to take all that love and effort that you were giving away and bring it home. So I’m caring for myself with the type of dedication that i was wasting on men who weren’t giving it to me in return. I am going to yoga 3-4x a week, spending real, present time with friends/family/my child, i am doing things I’ve been putting off like getting check ups and going to the dentist, i am redesigning my office, i …

That’s not the definition of a HVM. You can be all those things and still be a piece of shit who treats women poorly. High value men are respectful, honest, kind, interesting, dependable. They make an effort to show you they care about you. They go out of their way to add value to YOUR life instead of just taking from you. Being a charismatic player does not a HVM make.

Yoga, hiking, reading, meditating, decorating my home, spending time with friends and family, going the extra mile at work, star gazing with my telescope, taking long walks, going through Spotify to discover new music. So many amazing things to do while ignoring losers!

I am also a single mom who owns her home with a baby boy. Out of two back to back relationships with men who weren’t HORRIBLE but they certainly weren’t great either. Done settling and done dating DOWN. I am so happy to focus on my home, career and precious child. Good on you!!

We’re sexual creatures. We can deny ourselves that connection for an amount of time, but we can’t do it forever.

Just wanted to say that i have been in this place, basically with two losers and neither of them were really giving me anything i truly needed. One gave me a sense of continuity and one gave me (some) sexual satisfaction and excitement. Now I’m alone and the sense of relief on my soul is not even describable. I’m a better mom, friend, person. Just blow all of it up, burn it all down and start over. The pain of that is WORTH turning your life around to a point where you actually have a chance at …
