The difference is single mother households tend to be poorer and wo support that mother may become stressed, plus a mix of poverty and no male role figure causes problems primarily in boys including a 17% rise in juvenile crime. And these mothers often have to work a lot causing neglect by default which also raises crime rates. The only things that would impact it more is serious physical or sexual abuse (primarily by stepfather roles) as a child will also cause substantial raises in crime rates
