I think you're confusing traits, which are specific, (difficult, demanding, easily dissatisfied) with personality types, which are generalisations about collections of traits (such as love language type.) Not all the traits need to be present in order for you to belong to the type. So, you can have any love language type and still have negative traits, but those traits are not essential to have the particular love language type. Similarly, a woman who enjoys receiving acts of service (being look…

This is a really interesting view point, because I think it actually overlooks some of the aspects of those love languages. Full disclaimer - I write this as somebody who has 'gifts' as both a giving and receiving primary love language. I just wanted to say that there's really no 'bad' love language. In fact, if a guy naturally speaks Acts of Service, it would be beneficial for him to be with somebody who most appreciates it - that is, a lady who wants to receive acts of service. Just like you a…

Even in terms of non-romantic dates, I don't like to cause a kerfuffle, so while I will offer to pay at the end, if they say 'no, I want to pay,' I do not insist. Otherwise, everything I have to say is purely anecdotal! When first dating my bf, not only were we both very serious about one another before we started 'dating,' but we both worked and had money. However, he outearned (and still outearns) me by a very sizable amount, and this influenced our approach. While he always pays for my drinks…

Affordable housing is a real issue in a lot of places, so the cost of something liveable will often be at the outer perimeter of 'within your means,' no matter what those means are. If she is in the UK, then even a small home may need to be paid off over a long period of time, because space and land is at a much higher premium. 79 is very old, but if you're paying exorbitant rent on a low income, it can be hard to put aside the 25% deposit to even get started in the housing market. If she made p…

You're assuming that I hadn't spoken or engaged at all. I said "hello" to the cashier, asked how she was, then I went about talking to my SO about other things (like being able to make the two bags work). When he made the comment to the cashier, I laughed. At no point could she have thought "this woman is excluded." I'm so sorry - you seem to have misunderstood what I meant by 'excluded' in this case! I don't mean that you were literally left out (although you did say in your OP that you are gen…

Honestly, I'm not surprised that she went for a 'Team Woman' moment with you in this situation. Looking at it from her point of view, while I may not have said exactly what she did, I would have also sought to engage with you and have you involved in the conversation. Personally, if I were serving a man and a woman who appeared to be in a relationship, and he said that - a 'jokey' comment that was said to me and that excluded/put the woman on the outer (in this case, literally 'I'm not listening…

Because I serve it with flavourful sides, I ordinarily leave it plain. That way I can use leftovers for extra-yum baked rice pudding as well! If I were eating it without a stirfry or curry, I'd serve it with some soy sauce and snow peas; maybe throw a kaffir lime leaf in as it cooks. But really it's all about preference :)

It soaks in the same as water; don't add the milk to the usual amount of liquid, lessen the liquid by the same volume as the milk. Basically I dump the rice in, mix through the coconut milk, then add as much water to cover the rice as much as I need. It doesn't make creamy rice in terms of texture, but the rice is very fluffy, the taste is smoooth and the coconut flavour is really yum.

Not for all the time; but try cooking rice with a can of coconut milk or cream then topping up the liquid with water. It's so delicious and soft and flavoursome and goes great with stirfry! I do this in my stack cooker in the microwave and it is great! This works best with Jasmine; it's absorbent. It's not as effective with Basmati, but is still good :)

Hi everybody! I found this sub after posting a thread seeking advice in the relationships sub; I was sent a PM telling me I probably belong here instead. I hadn't heard of it so was interested to come have a look - I subscribed and started reading a bit. The PM I got was not an 'oh my you belong with us so much' PM; it was a throwaway and it was telling me that I was a gender traitor. I have to say, I'm fascinated because nothing here seems particularly gender traitor-y to me! I suppose I'm a pr…
