You spelled it out early in your comment. It's the social pressure to honor commitments and act with integrity. We hold each other accountable. Do unto others as they would do unto you. You really got the worst of the worst in this woman. I think this can happen to any man, but you seemed to overlook a lot of red flags along the way.
