My every once in a while reminder to GET A FUCKING LAWYERThis is my story to a T. She made more $$. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/04/21 02:31 AM
In the best taste, how did you celebrate getting divorced?I’d really like to finally buy myself a Rolex I’ve always wanted but was always told was spending too much on stuff. Maybe depending on on how fucked I end up. I will buy myself a nice sub. Good idea. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/09/20 03:34 AM
RealizationsYeah she is definitely playing games with me. I didn’t want to even do my own due diligence before because I was too caught up in the hurt but I’m finally breaking out of my mental fog I think. I have a lawyer I like so I’m going to sign the paperwork and send the retainer. Unfortunately, since she decided to bs me on the house proceeds I am left with a small amount in my savings. I may just dip into my 401k since you can apparently take up to 100k with no penalty right now. Haven’t received a p… | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/09/20 09:55 PM
RealizationsThanks. That is helpful. I am done being mr nice guy. The more I think about our recent interactions the more I get pissed. I’m not a pushover, but I feel like I’ve done so much to try and make her happy only for her to chew me up and spit me out. There was no infidelity in our marriage or any abuse etc. Was simply communication and her deciding to give up on what we built. | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/09/20 09:48 PM
RealizationsI like your suggestions. Thank you. Definitely need to channel this energy somewhere instead of letting it beat me down. | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/09/20 04:17 AM
RealizationsThanks for this advice. I was totally in the dumps for the past coupe month or so and was heavily relying on substances to numb myself. I have been substance free for a bit now though and have actually lost a bit of weight. I have started kind of half ass implementing some of the other things you mentioned liked nutrition and sleep but need to really get on the ball and be consistent. I have trouble sleeping at night and that rolls over into the next day. Thanks again. I will look more into some… | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/09/20 03:01 AM
RealizationsIndeed. I just want to get this shit over and move on with my life. The guys divorcing with no kids out there don’t know how good they have it. I wish I could never speak to her again. Unfortunately we have two kids under 6. I wasn’t built to be a single dad but I have damn sure been trying my best. I didn’t even want to have two children. Felt like I was a sperm donor when it came to conceiving number two. I love them to death though but fuck life is hard. She is damn sure enjoying her weekly m… | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/09/20 02:21 AM
What to say to people about why you moved? Thanks for the advice. It really sucks not having anyone to talk to about this stuff since all my friends are either “happily” married or single. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/08/20 04:04 AM
What to say to people about why you moved? That’s a good perspective. This process has really killed my confidence and spirit tbh. Doesn’t help I got fired like a week before moving out lol. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/08/20 03:51 AM
What to say to people about why you moved?Lol. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/08/20 03:47 AM
What to say to people about why you moved?I like this advice. Maybe I’m worried too much about what others think of me. I guess that is one thing I need to get over at this point. I realize that so many people get divorced and all but I’m just embarrassed to mention it. I guess I still view it as me having failed even though I know we were both unhappy (no cheating or anything). | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/08/20 03:45 AM
What to say to people about why you moved?Ya. It’s just an awkward topic and I’d rather not go through it on a reoccurring basis lol. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/08/20 03:42 AM
What to say to people about why you moved? So basically I should just tell people why and suck it up? | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/08/20 03:41 AM
Anyone Else Divorcing And Losing Job Same Time?I’m in this boat. I got let go three days before we were moving out of our marital houses into our own places. It’s been a few weeks now and it sucks not having any responsibilities outside of the days I have my kids. I haven’t been motivated to even look yet though tbh. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/07/20 10:03 AM
It's my fault, but can I save it?This is like exactly my situation. How can someone say they will change after you change? Obviously if only one person makes effort and the other is just cold it’s not going to work. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/01/20 06:02 AM
Ex wife (38) enjoys it when the children are sick...Well isn’t that where the mom actually makes the children sick? I don’t think it’s only them being happy at the child being sick. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/06/19 12:28 AM
My wife is divorcing me in a no-fault state. I would do anything not to get a divorce...I hear you completely. I’m still early on in the process and I have many fears regarding my kids ( haven’t moved out yet but plan on doing so soon). Best thing I can suggest is try and find some positive things to keep yourself busy. That way you don’t allow yourself time to dwell on the stuff you can’t change. I’m pushing 40 myself and I’m not a big drinker but I did start smoking weed every day for a good year. I wanted to blame myself in some regard for disconnecting from my situation but the… | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/05/19 02:28 AM
My wife is divorcing me in a no-fault state. I would do anything not to get a divorce...One thing I was told is recently is you will never be alone because you have your kids. Keep that in mind and remember to value the things that life has blessed you with. Good luck to you. | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/05/19 02:21 AM
Post divorce cheap vacation destination ideas?I need to keep this in mind. I think I will need to have a vacation to decompress myself as well. I do enjoy some Latin women lol. | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/05/19 02:19 AM
Post divorce cheap vacation destination ideas?Sounds like you have the right idea. | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/05/19 02:17 AM
Amicable Divorce Reality? Thanks a lot. These are some good insights. She doesn’t have anyone. She doesn’t seem to even really care about that. Seems like she is obsessed with the kids and nothing else for the moment. I’m happy to hear your take on the vasectomy. I will give that some thought. And I worry about closing doors to myself. I’m pushing 40 right now so I’m not a young man anymore but I guess I’m not trying to start a new life at 50+ either like could have happened if we just rode it out till the kids go to col… | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/05/19 02:15 AM
Amicable Divorce Reality? Thanks for this. This is very helpful. My wife is still very much pushing this model but I just have a really hard time even imagining a scenario where we live together but aren’t together. I still love my wife too. I have always been willing to try and make it work. But I also realize it likely isn’t going to work at this point. I’m happy to know that this isn’t so uncommon. In my head though, I don’t feel like I could date anyone without having my own place. I feel like it’s a prerequisite. Se… | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/05/19 02:55 AM
Amicable Divorce Reality? My wife wants a co-parenting marriage. I can’t justify that working out well in my mind because it means I have no privacy. I’m curious how this worked out for you and why you are okay with it? Also, what did you guys tell the people you are seeing? It’s such an unconventional thing for most people these days that I would worry it would just scare off anyone. And good luck to you. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/05/19 01:15 AM
