I’m just saying… my ex said he’d never abuse me, never hit a woman, never raise his voice. That was “never necessary and cruel”. at the time I felt it was odd he’d even bring this scenario up in any way. That feeling or slight concern you have now is 100% telling you something. I ignored it and I had to file two police reports against him 7 months later when he smashed a hole in the wall next to my head and threw glass so hard at the wall it shattered and got stuck in my hair and then chased me …

All my exes were 11 years older than me and it was too much. It never ended well. Wayyyy too much life had happened for them before it even happened for me.

So, I’d be very uncomfortable if I found photos of my partner with someone else he’d previously said he’d deleted. A lie is a lie - I’d wonder what else may he be lying about? But as another commenter said, are there qualities in your partner you love so much you can’t see yourself without them? Do you think your life would be better without him? Can you get past the lie? Because lying is huge, especially about something like this. He has absolutely given you cause to break up and be distrusting…

Hi just popping in here - he said it was normal we had the conversation lmao and thought it would’ve been weird if we hadn’t. I didn’t put a year timetable on it? Not sure where that came from but wanted to clear that up. ASKING a question at my age is very normal and common amongst intentional daters.

Thank you for your comment Cosima! I didn’t love the shot at myself from the other commenter about not having good “luck” when I mentioned in almost every comment I miscarried due to an abusive relationship and have had abusive experiences. Thought that was unnecessary when there wasn’t any shot taken on my end toward the commenter so I agree with the snark. Don’t think abuse is bad luck. You fall for the wrong person. Fhank

Hi hi! OP here (probably will notify you of that). I really appreciate your comments. Not sure why you’re getting downvoted because I agree with most of what you said. He’s a lovely man who would be dad of the year and is human sunshine. I adore him. However. I’m Not loving the comment about me not having great luck, can’t really help the fact I almost married a physically abusive asshole and miscarried because of it, wouldn’t really say that’s my own bad “luck” (but I did have the guts to get o…

Also side note - boyfriend served in Fallujah. Not sure where your friend was but hope he’s doing well and thank him for his service if he’s a vet that appreciates that

Thank you so much for your comment. This helps a lot. My current boyfriend served in Iraq. He’s has a very stable job in public security but it doesn’t pay as much as he’d like; it’s an entry level salary which makes him upset. He’s looking for different work. I think logistically it makes sense. We both want marriage, we both want kids. Realistically, I’m 28. Will be 29 in 4 months. With him or with someone else, I most likely won’t be having a child until at least 32 if I’m smart and focus on …

I appreciate your kind words. In a perfect world I would’ve had a child by now (I was previously engaged but had a miscarriage due to stress from abuse. I left the situation). But with a layoff and some other issues I’ve commented below other responses, it hasn’t happened. I don’t want to be a mother solely to replace the child I lost. I’ve always wanted to have a little one to teach the world and leave it better than we found it, or at least try. My dream has always been to be a mom. I have a g…

Thank you for your comment. Everyone is being very kind and I appreciate it. For your first bullet point: do you think that point will ever come? No one is ever truly ready or feeling 100% stable, so do you think this could become a waiting years and year and us never having children issue? As for the trauma regarding the abusive relationship and miscarriage I agree. It was a bad situation and I am working through it. I don’t want a child born in an unstable financial situation, I grew up in tha…

He has a job that’s very stable but doesn’t pay as much as he’d want to support a child, and doesn’t know how long he’ll be at said job. I was laid off last August, in tech. I have student loans, and I’m thinking logistically of how it’s becoming increasingly more difficult for young women to have viable pregnancies and how it would be harder be in my thirties. I am not talking about us having a kid now, or even in a year or two. But just nervous about 33 or possibly later being his earliest mak…

Oh I am not talking NOW of us having kids. I just wanted to know his ballpark range. I see a trauma therapist.

Thank you for this. I really appreciate it. After my last relationship switched up completely what he wanted after a year, I felt like I needed to bring it up and find out what he wanted sooner rather than later so I don’t get crushed again. Or just gauge when his timeline was and if it aligned. It does logically, but biologically makes me nervous. I totally get your points. My future kids don’t get to pick. Thank you for being kind. I really just wanted to find out if and when he wanted them, a…
