Broke up about 6 weeks ago and every time I feel like texting, I just put all that energy into journalling and it has helped. Stay strong ladies!!

Thanks so much for the tips! She knows I'm straightforward and appreciates my honesty but I'll probably hold back on the last one first and try the first two :)

Thanks so much! Totally missed out on the "FDS rescue mission" option :) I'm always there for her and I do make an effort to initiate and hang out with her when she isn't busy. You are right about her wanting to leave on her own. Thanks for the advice!

Told a guy once that I'll only have sex if I'm in a committed relationship and he asked if I was hinting at him to ask me to be his girlfriend. Uh no? I'm drawing boundaries, you're just too dumb to see it.

This happened to me a month ago and while I truly appreciate it, I'm still hurting. I don't think about it as much anymore since we only dated for a few months and I'm doing things I truly enjoy, eg. bouldering/going to the gym/reading/spending time with family and friends. However, I get reminded of him randomly once in a while and I feel sad for a couple of minutes before picking myself up. Any idea how I can live through this pain? I know it's something I can come out from alive but the rando…

Met a guy who was so guarded. Used to think I was training to become a mind reader lol. Would be good if I really ended up with that skill though.

Once went to a dude’s house for a date (before I learnt of FDS). He said he was gonna cook but he overslept for the date and didn’t end up cooking. Ordered in and he wanted to keep MY LEFTOVERS for the next day and chided me for wasting food? Like tf we only knew each other for a month. His internet kept disconnecting too while we were watching netflix. Turns out he didnt even have internet and was freeloading off of his neighbour. Never again.

Is this person seriously asking if he's the asshole? I have no words. I'm sure the universe had planned on having him slip up, serves him right.

Tf is this nonsense? It's so rude to be rating people like this. I'm pretty sure he's a 0 irl while he's sitting behind a computer/phone judging others. Gross.

Here's a virtual hug for you. I'm sorry you had to go through this but you really dodged a bullet there. He'll get his just desserts.

To be honest, I usually just distance myself from such women when I receive such reactions. If you can't tell that I'm being 100% genuine in warning you, then we're probably better off not being friends. Pretty harsh I know, but I don't have time for such nonsense.

This was me when I went through a rough patch last year. Kept looking at depressing quotes, reading Thought Catalog articles, and trying to search him and the girl up online just to see how they are doing and if he was better off without me. After awhile, I got pretty sick of this vicious cycle I put myself through. Whenever I feel like doing those things, I'd reach out to my friend, think about why I'm feeling this way and write my thoughts down in a journal, or just go for a workout session. L…

I love this sub so much! Every time I meet a friend with dating problems, I dish out advice I learnt from FDS. It's my go to thread and I make sure my female friends know about it. I'm thankful for you ladies!

What would be the appropriate response to that? Is it just a straight up "Please don't waste my time"? Or is there a way for them to utter the words "Would you go on a date with me"?

No, please don’t. Imo being FWB will almost always cause you to catch feelings which is not beneficial for your self-improvement journey. It might help to ask what type of void are you trying to fill by having an FWB. If it’s the pleasure if sex you think you’ll miss, get a toy. If you think you feel lonely, surround yourself with friends who love you or spend more time with family :)

Used to date a guy who would make up stories about how so many people have crushes on him but he can’t stand the attention. What a hell load of bullshit just to stroke his own ego lol.

Hello fellow Singaporean, nice to meet you :) I’m just gonna chime in from the pov of a working adult. From what I’ve experienced, casual dating is pretty common. People go on 1-2 dates to test waters and don’t wish to get tied down so easily. It’s common for people here to sleep around also and dragonboaters/those in the finance industry generally have a rep for being fuck boys. Low effort dates are common too and it amazes me when I read about women getting wined and dined on FDS because that …

On a side note, idk why some men can’t just say “beautiful” instead of cute. What does cute even mean? I definitely don’t see it as a compliment.

I wish I could show this thread to someone who got played. She went running back to his arms and said she would commit suicide if he ever cheated on her again. This was shocking and baffling. Also told me she needs him to help sort out her emotional problems, even though I explained that it’s her own journey and she’s the one responsible for her own change and happiness.

She once told me if he cheated on her for the third time she would leave him. I told her there isn’t gonna be a third time because she should just leave him. And she clarified that by “leaving him”, she meant “commit suicide”. I was stunned and asked why. Her answer was: “I would rather die than live with the pain that he cheated again.” Girl...

I really want to know how people are able to live in such conditions without feeling uncomfortable?! I don’t expect people to be 100% tidy and clean 24/7 but this is a whole new level.

Women don’t owe you anything. Just because we went out with you doesn’t mean we have to post stuff about us being together. Gosh, that dude must have low self esteem since he’s so affected by such things.

Thanks for the reminder about keeping it short and fun! There were a few instances when I lost track of time because things were going so well and when I checked my watch, a few hours have passed. I will keep that in mind and peek at my watch once in a while!

One told me "Chill, I was just kidding. Can't you take a joke?" If you can't take no for an answer or don't even bother putting yourself in my shoes to realise how uncomfortable I am with all those sexual stuff, then it's a no. BLOCKED.

Looks like we have it pretty much covered here but I'll share some points from my POV :) Giving you a detailed story about his exes on the first date and always calling his exes "paranoid" and "crazy". Having constantly heard these stories, I used to be so afraid of being labelled as paranoid or crazy and always gave him the benefit of doubt. Wrong move. Telling you he watches porn after fucking his ex because she was unable to satisfy him. Always making unsolicited, mean remarks about your frie…

With regards to your last point, what would the appropriate answer be when a guy asks about my sexual past? Should I just flat out lie and say no? Or say something like "I've made out but never gone that far?"

What a brilliant idea haha. I'm gonna try this one day.

The strange thing was, he ghosted me and when I didn't respond, he texted back. And silly me, I thought I should give him another chance because my friend said "Some people just don't respond well on text." The conversation bored me to tears and it was so obvious he wasn't interested, and I regretted even responding in the first place. One day, I woke up and decided enough was enough and I unmatched him.

I just found this sub today and wished I had discovered it earlier. Would have avoided all the bs I experienced earlier. But here’s to new beginnings and I’m heartened to know that there is a group of women looking out for one another!!

Damn! I went on a date last month and the guy kept probing about my past dating experience even though I was uncomfortable in telling him about it. I thought it was really weird and rude! He ghosted me after though so Idk what his deal was. But I’ll make sure to keep this im mind the next time I’m out on a date :)
