I wouldn't worry about it because before I sort of 'worked out' that I was trans I didn't understand transsexual people either and wouldn't have known that word isn't one you just toss around—I think pretty much everyone is inadvertently offensive at some point, it's learning from it that's important. I mostly just like that you spoke about it in an open way since there's so much 'You got it wrong, DIE CIS SCUM' instead of just 'Hey, that's a little bit off maybe we can talk about it'.

Thanks for making this comment! I was going to respond to his comment as an FTM men's rights supporter but I think you covered everything I wanted to say.

I'm trans and a big men's rights supporter. I don't comment here often, because I'm more of a reader, but on the whole if I discuss being FTM people are either vaguely interested in what it's like to experience both genders, they don't care or, on rare occasions, they are rude and get downvoted. I've never had a problem with this community, they're way more supportive than any of the transphobic feminists you come across.

Don't misunderstand me—I'm not arguing that passing isn't important to people. It absolutely is. What I'm saying is that if someone doesn't pass, there's no need to be a dick about it and make things harder for them. They feel shitty enough about it as it is, no need to rub it in. There is also a difference in asking for people's opinions on whether or not I pass, and what I can do to improve to be read more masculinely, and unsolicited comments that judge people for the fact that they don't pas…

Comments about how trans women don't 'look female' or that they are 'fake or liars' don't help anyone. Do you really think they don't know that they struggle to pass? They look in the mirror and deal with that every day. Even for the most optimistic of transgender people, that isn't easy. Pointing it out and generally talking shit about it doesn't help anyone—it's no different to making fun of someone who has undergone chemotherapy for being bald. You're judging someone on a physical attribute r…

MRAs don't have to actively support transgender people—they're here to advocate for men's rights which, while encompassing transgender men, is not the same as 'doing something for being transgender' (although I'm not even sure what you would expect MRAs to do). Case in point, I'm a transgender man and I feel perfectly at home browsing this subreddit and I find that any comments that would hurt me are downvoted very quickly—that is much more than can be said for how I feel in more feminist-orient…

The issue here is more of a combination of misandry and transphobia: the woman in question is absolutely a woman but she was antagonised by someone who was a) transphobic in viewing her as her birth sex and not her true gender and b) misandrist in having an inherent negative opinion because of this transphobic perception of masculinity.

I know, I try hard to distinguish between transphobic feminism and non-transphobic feminism when I'm talking about them—while neither are particularly up my alley, only one actively makes me want punch people! It's just strange. It almost feels like these people should be the most accepting of us trans folk but I've actually found that they're far, far worse than your average person who knows nothing about gender politics.

It baffles me that so many feminists (the transphobic kind, of course) think that they can stare in the face of medical science and just throw it out the window because all they can see is a man in a dress or a woman in a suit. They're doing a real swell job of looking past a person's outer image like they advocate. Also, if men are hugely superior to women then why on earth would they want to 'pretend' to be women (assuming we exclude the obvious conclusion of congenital conditions)? How does t…

That is how Tumblr is by its very definition: it doesn't allow for censorship, thankfully, but it does allow for an absurd mob mentality whenever someone makes an argument against a popular blog. Their followers act like its a personal attack on them and everyone they know regardless of how rational an argument is provided. If a man argues, 'lolol, this man thinks he knows something'. If a woman argues, 'oh you poor thing, you've been brainwashed'. As for the 'Die cis scum' business, that's part…

Yes; a lot of my female friends believe that a man only wants 'one thing' on a date/in a relationship. It's frustrating, especially when they turn down so many good guys because they don't feel ready to engage in anything sexual. He asked you to a movie, not an orgy! Jesus. On a side note: those are some hideous shoes.

I don't understand this logic at all. Wife: 'I don't want to stay at home and take care of the kids! I want to go out and have a real job!' Husband: 'Okay, I'll be a stay-at-home dad then. That's fine.' Wife: 'No, you can't look after them! That's my job as a mother!' So do they just want the kids to look after themselves, or..?

I actually wrote out some of my thoughts on this recently, so I'll throw some of it down here in my first attempt at doing something other than lurking in this subreddit. First off, how did no one see how flawed her plan was before they opened their wallets? She wasn’t even going to have a video about positive female characters until she reached her second set of funding goals — that’s so blatantly biased there aren’t even words for it. Then you just look at the titles of her other videos and re…
