I absolutely agree, but it needs to come from men themselves. This might be a pretty hackneyed metaphor but I used to smoke. No matter how much people wanted me to quit, or how many times I tried it never stuck until I was the one who wanted to quit. Hell, sometimes when people told me to quit I wanted to smoke even more as a 'fuck you, you can't tell me what to do'. "looking at whether the liberation of women can also free men from the straitjacket of masculinity." Because masculinity is bad. Not nuanced, unique to men, and possibly inherent to their gender, masculinity is a bad thing. It's almost as if she's never experienced being a man and all it entails.
