Best way to understand the Qur'an or any other book is by reading it yourself, no source is 100% reliable and translation changes it's meaning. Exact correct word to word translation is difficult so it's understandable that they got it wrong. I say learn Arabic, you'll learn a new language and you'd get to know about a religion. When I read bhagwat geeta myself, I saw the lies people spread that's why it's important to check it out yourself.
