I would end things. I find it disrespectful that after you clearly showed you were serious about exclusivity and paused your profile he continued to remain active on multiple apps. He's not necessarily a bad guy but he's not serious about you. He's keeping his options open and kind of being sketchy about it. There's no reason to keep the apps active if he is interested in pushing something with you.

Unless you're that rare match up of a super beta male who likes being bossed around and an alpha female who likes bossing. Which is probably more of a kink anyways...

Honestly though, it's not really too late, women in their late thirties aren't going to have the pick of the litter but if she radically changes her outlook, and is attractive, she still has an advantage if she goes for an older demographic. Yes, this is clearly anecdotal but I know a LOT of women in their late 30s/early 40s who have married higher value men after divorce (the men were mostly doctors because that's where my sample is from- women who work in healthcare) . The caveat is the women …

So there are men who are attracted to the strong independent woman vibe, but they're not the type that are going to lead. After I left my first husband (met when I was 17, had no clue what I was doing) and I hit the dating market at 29 I thought I knew what men wanted and what I wanted. (Just not my ex). I thought men would be impressed by my career, education, income so that's what I put out there. I'm pretty sure I bragged outright on se of these dates. I put out "I'm not like other women" vib…

He shows the same lack of interest in most of that. I'm the only one who brings up/plans finances/retirement/our future. We both work full time and have our own careers. When we first were dating he seemed to be organized with his finances but once we merged finances he stopped managing them pretty much.

Has he read "the subtle art of not giving a fuck" because part of it describes the pressure people drive themselves insane with to be happy all the time and if they're NOT something's wrong and they spiral on that. It's an ebb and flow and we're going to feel like shit sometimes but fixating on it makes it much worse. I recommend that book if he hasn't read it.

I am working on this! I don't turn anything down even if it's a movie but he sees right through me if it's something i don't like even if i think I'm keeping my face/tone light/neutral.

Yes. I have. He is super sensitive to my body language so even when I try to show appreciation for something he KNOWS if i don't love it (even if i like it or am neutral) and starts ranting about how I'm difficult to please. I need acting lessons.

Solid advice I will keep looking for more things to admire, i suspect I'm missing some I'm taking for granted. I have a few games I like now but they're mostly party games (code names, mysterium). He prefers more complicated games that requires focus, multiple decisions/strategies and I lose focus/forget what I'm doing and he gets annoyed. My job requires a zillion decisions all day long so I think that's why I don't want to do that in games ( I read an article about a guy who loves board games …

So I try to mention things but the thing is I'm an adventurous type and he's a homebody type. So i would LOVE ice skating, rock climbing, kayaking but he makes quite the face lol. He would prefer to keep it to dinner then home but I think bowling, mini golf could be a good compromise (I'm terrible at both so extra ego boost to him too haha). We do both like comedy and have upcoming tickets to stand up so that will be fun! I like the bucket list idea!!

That's a good idea! Maybe I'll just pick my favorite and still "save" the other ones for the future even if they aren't my favorite things so he feels more confident!

Well, I'm meeting the same resistance there as well. Can you give some examples of other areas? Maybe I'm missing things he does.

I have been practicing gratitude for his choices for a bit but I guess I need to be more patient. The worst part is I have no poker face so let's say we're out somewhere and i take a bite of something and he asks how it is and i say "it's good!" He can tell if I'm not absolutely LOVING it somehow even though I think I'm showing i like it. So then he gets upset because he picked somewhere "bad" even when it's NOT bad.

I think that's a great idea but unfortunately sex is another area we struggle with, where I have the higher libido so the first suggestion would probably make him feel pressured. But I love the second! though he would probably say, oh you'll do anything? busts out Catan ;).

Obviously this is a small snippet of the relationship but when a man loves you he would generally absolutely LOVE to see you laughing and having fun. I mean maybe if you were yelling out inappropriate stuff or something it could be embarrassing, but just laughing hard and having fun? Something's really wrong, either he resents you for something or he's just not a good guy (for you in particular), perhaps both. My husband loves it when I laugh, even when it's embarrassingly loud or I snorted, I u…

I just want to add that rp men speak of "oneitis" which is really an illusion that there's one perfect person for you. You botched this relationship up. It happens. Work on yourself and grow from it and there will be another one that you will cherish and respect from the beginning. We as women, especially if you learn from here how to be a soft, feminine woman who doesn't compete with or criticize a man, have an edge in the dating world. I know eventually youth isn't on our side but right now it…

In my experience, you're better off both cutting your losses. Men have a harder time forgiving infidelity than women, and it's nearly impossible for him to feel like a man again. As tragic as it is, I think you're better off letting him go and working on yourself so you won't repeat the mistakes again. And on your end you don't want to be with a man who will always see you as a liar, mistrust you, or have other negative feelings towards you. I speak from experience on both ends sadly. Especially…

I ditched many friends because my husband pointed out how awful they are to me. The problem is I can't seem to find replacements!

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
