Left wing beliefs on this sub are very different to mainstream left when it comes to men. The left gets criticised for its misandry all the time here.

Ah women’s aid, the organisation that claims female perpetrators of dv are prior victims of abuse. I’m sure they will take male victims seriously.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates22/04/25 06:01 PM

That’s why they’ve separated masculinity into two categories, healthy and toxic. They want to keep the status quo where male gender roles benefits others.

I have been in relationships before where I’ve been made to feel like shit for going out with friends. When the shoe is on the other foot it is seen as isolating your partner.

Or they go through the methodology and point out faults if the study is male favouring but they never do this if the study is female favouring.

Something tells me it would have been more about policing men than actually helping them anyway.

Exactly, top comment on the UK sub post is about raising men to treat women better. It’s like they want to send boys off to bootcamp whether they’re innocent or not.

You may get the odd few nice feminists online (very rare in my experience), but they’re not the ones who influence legislation, media, etc., nor do they speak up against the misandrist feminists that they say aren’t real feminists. They push harmful ‘facts’ via studies even if they have glaring issues or have been retracted, e.g. men leave sick wives, abuse by women being reactive and so on. They were also involved in the gendered definition of rape in UK legislation. And then you have their car…

In the UK, supermarket (ASDA) lost its case against certain women who argued that retail staff getting paid less than warehouse staff is pay inequality. It’s madness.

The old ‘if you believe in equality, you’re a feminist’ in the other post. They’re really trying hard to replace the word ‘egalitarian’ with a movement. With that condescending attitude, is it really a surprise why so many refuse to identify as one (as per the survey)?

They probably do given their gynocentric attitudes, they’re just not as blatant about it (usually). Which I think is what entices some men to them.

What this says to me is that with males it’s more to do with punishment but with females it’s to do with rehabilitation

There’s a lot of pissed off users over science sub just because of that line lol. Besides the actual child rearing, another excuse against men getting more paternity leave is that mothers need to recover from giving birth. This makes no sense to me. Would it not help the mother recover if the father is there too.

Government is required to fund services regardless of gender but based on needs (acquired through data). Classify all victims of domestic or sexual abuse as victims of ‘violence against women and children’. Present data to government to show that there aren’t male victims. Government pulls funding. Okay, it may not be so accurate but I have no doubt that it’s some similar shady work of women’s organisations like Women’s Aid. They’ve been lobbying against funding of men’s services for years. The …

I think the problem with ‘toxic masculinity’ is the phrase itself. When women are toxic towards each other, people call it internalised misogyny. So why isn’t men being toxic towards each other recognised as internalised misandry? It goes back to the belief that men are the oppressors of women and therefore, there is no such thing as misandry. There is a reason why feminists are eager for everyone to adopt the term so I refuse to use it.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/02/25 08:43 PM

Misogyny is banned at content policy level, misandry is left up to individual mods.

/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/02/25 12:05 PM

Yeah, there’s hard evidence of misandry so it can’t be chalked off as a conspiracy theory. Although they tend to label the only part of it they recognise (mental health), as toxic masculinity. Funny part is that to them the actual conspiracy theory that is ‘the patriarchy’, is true.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates13/02/25 11:12 AM

Could be either because feminists and conservatives, whilst they may word it differently, both treat men similarly.

Sorry about what you went through. Organisations like women’s aid outright claimed that female offenders were abused themselves, so they are victims too. There’s even a charity by the name of Women in Prison, their goal is to end prison sentences for women since many claim to be ‘Domestic Abuse Survivors’.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/01/25 09:19 PM

It’s already bad enough as it is since they already receive suspended sentences pretty often.

Depends on the type as the other person said. More importantly, the point here wasn’t to discuss who has it worse but that men get attacked for hijacking women’s issues whilst people are agreeing with the woman in question, even though she is doing the same thing.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates22/01/25 05:11 PM
18

You know that this is the same type of person that would kick off if men were to say rape, genital mutilation or DV isn’t a gendered problem. The worst thing is that men don’t typically attack women when bringing up those issues, yet she outright calls men shitty, gross and disgusting.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/01/25 12:23 AM
21

Organisations like Women’s Aid are responsible for this as they are part of the decision making process when it comes to anything involving domestic violence or sexual abuse. When you have organisations which believe women only commit ‘reactive’ abuse, it’s no surprise that male victims get categorised as women to fudge their numbers. It helps them ensure more funding for themselves.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates12/01/25 11:47 PM

Keep in mind that you might not be referred to mental health services at all. I haven’t read the article in a while, but I recall that a sizeable number of men were deemed to not be at risk.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/01/25 10:12 PM
13

Also, mental health services have a long wait time and that’s if you get referred at all. So 50% in the UK is a pretty high number too.

I never fully understand why groups like MGTOW got so much hate, to the point feminists thought they should be eliminated. I know the answer is misogyny. And I'm also not saying these groups aren't misogynistic. It’s not as if the female equivalents (4B, WGTOW) are any different, yet those are praised. If a man thinks a woman is attractive. Then that means that man is porn brain, because his view of women is influenced by porn. Similarly, when a man finds that a woman is bad in the sack, they th…

They just say whatever makes them look good in the moment, but the mask slips in real situations. If you were to ask the people who hang out on relationship based subreddits whether they take men seriously when they’re abused by their wives, you would assume from their answers that they do. However, in practice, they will comb through a man’s entire history to either blame him, discredit him, or tell him that he needs to get her help. They say they care about men’s mental health but the men’s me…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/12/24 08:50 PM
16

Nothing changes. People say they care, but when given an actual scenario and a man open’s up about abuse, people tell him that he needs to get her help for depression, PPD, BPD, etc. The man’s wellbeing is low on the list of priorities. And then they’re confused as to why men don’t bother talking about it.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/12/24 12:25 PM
9

And if he’s not the asshole then OP is trying to rile up men and turn them into ‘misogynists’. There’s a famous one on relationship_advice who says she works in a DV charity, she’s very skeptical when it’s a woman abusing a man.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates12/12/24 05:00 PM
20

Exactly. They’re not direct about it but if you give them a scenario such as relationship issues, they tend to take the woman’s side or make excuses to minimise it, even if she’s being abusive.

I agree with all your points. It’s so normalised that I’ve seen people who call it out be labelled misogynists. It’s crazy how somewhere you’re always the bad guy, even though it would be viewed as financial abuse if it were the other way around. I actually recently heard someone say that even if a stay at home wife has access to the joint account, it’s abusive to not provide her a separate account for ‘fun money’. It’s so difficult for people to recognise the most obvious forms of financial abu…

Your superior does not need your approval but your subordinates do. I believe that is how they see it which is why they find it offensive for women to seek men’s approval but not the other way round.

The idea is to placate men by co-opting men's issues and make it SEEM like they care about men's issues.. But in reality they just want to control the narrative... That is why they only highlight certain issues, such as mental health. Here's the nefarious part. Instead of recognising how society reacts to men displaying emotions, or how mental health is inadequate, they just say men are too scared of appearing feminine (misogyny/toxic masculinity) and don't seek help, which is a myth. blame men for things that aren’t their responsibility nor in their control I didn't explain it too well but that is hyperagency. People exaggerate the capabilities and power of men. Does the term hyper-agency cover situations where men are held accountable for things out of their control and things that aren’t their responsibility? Given the above explanation, yes. However, I'm not sure that the specific scenario you gave is an example of hyperagency. One that I can think of is that poster where…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/09/24 12:12 AM

Hyper means too much of something, hypo is the opposite. Hyper agency is when someone is fully in control and responsible for their actions. Hypo agency is when someone has little to no control over their choices and behaviour. We see our society ascribe the former to men and the latter to women. For example, when a woman does something bad, people blame her upbringing, past trauma, hormones, etc.

It's the same old trickle down equality that they've always been blabbing on about, just repackaged. That tackling misogyny and women's issues, will automatically solve men's issues.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/08/24 07:27 PM
48

The funny part is that, that is exactly what feminists do when discussing men's topics. They like to derail men's issues, sometimes with completely different issues just to dismiss men. For example, you could be talking about how convicted female pedophiles avoid prison. They will they come in to say how the average male rapist never sees prison. Sentencing after someone has been convicted is a completely different issue to a trial not seeing the light of day.

Yeah, they’ve never cared about the male side of traditional gender roles. Some might say they do but if you give them certain scenarios then they show their true colours. The reason why I don’t take that line seriously is that actions speak louder than words. Their actions and sometimes, the lack of it, shows that they either don’t care or want to keep the status quo when it comes to men’s issues.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates22/08/24 05:02 PM

I have similar dislike for traditional gender roles and being told by others, my duties as a man. What amazes me is how so many hate our lifestyle choices, even on a 'progressive' platform like Reddit. A lot of guys seem to think our life's purpose is just to impress women. Those men seem to not like the fact that there are men who aren't like them.

As I said, women may be charged with rape through joint enterprise. Women can only be charged for rape if they act as an accomplice. I'll find you the stats when I'm home. https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/crimeandjustice/datasets/natureofsexualassaultbyrapeorpenetrationenglandandwales It is in spreadsheet (xlsx) format. The reason for the latter is pretty simple. In a lot of countries, the legal definition for rape is designed to produce that result. In the UK, the perpetrator is required to have a penis to be charged with rape. Women can only be charged for rape if they act as an accomplice. Hence, the stats will say 99% of rapists are men. They do not include the female equivalent crime under rape statistics. Comparing the genders of rapists is redundant. It would be like saying only BMW's are allowed at this…

Its usage reminds me of when some women call men gay after getting rejected. If he's gay then it can't be my fault. A coping mechanism for narcissists. Misandrists insult men that say they're wrong, with stuff that insinuates he's undesirable to women.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/08/24 10:27 AM

This is called gamma bias. Positive contributions by men are downplayed and ignored, whilst negative contributions are exaggerated and highlighted. This perception is switched when it comes to women.

Okay, I see what you're saying but we've misunderstood each other I think. Feminists do recognise what you identifying as toxic femininity. My point is that they do not call it that, they refer to it as internalised misogyny.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/08/24 10:10 AM

It’s counter productive to introduce the idea of toxic femininity but not toxic masculinity? I prefer that we keep consistency. Expecting women to conform to their gender roles is seen as misogyny. Therefore, it makes more sense to label the male equivalent as misandry.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/08/24 09:25 PM

I was right to be sceptical that official government documents would outright say that the punishment should be more lenient than the punishment for rape. I think it’s a combination of them combining it with harassment and just making up numbers as they go along. First they start with 1 in 5, over time it becomes 1 in 4 and we’re now finally at 1 in 3. Given it's a UK article, it stupidly isn't recognised as rape legally. When they last reviewed the sexual offences act back in 2003, they declared it isn't equivalent to man on woman rape. We did consider whether there was evidence that a woman could force a man to penetrate her against his will but, although we found a little anecdotal evidence, we did not discover sufficient to convince us that this was the equivalent of rape. There are several reasons but I think one of them is that male sexuality is seen as gross and frightening, unlike female sexuality. They weren't denying that abusive men isolate women or attempting to downplay it in any way. Just that the writer completely downplays when abusive women isolate men from their friends and family. They essentially wrote that women attempt but cannot force it.

Isolation: They admit that female abusers isolate their partners too. The 'total control' part is just unnecessary. Economic control: The idea of 'her money and our money' is both common and normalised. Personal power: Look at the number of men who ascribe to the 'happy wife, happy life' mentality. They would rather give in to their wives than deal with the fallout. This again is normalised. Sexual abuse: Some women will have a meltdown if their husband turns down sex which can lead to sexual co…

I do think that they more commonly viewed as arbiters of morality. We often hear that 'the woman is always right’ in the context of relationships, but it also extends to society as a whole, especially on the topic of gender. Men with opinions that don't align with them are silenced by being labelled as toxic and other words that are derogatory

I think one difference between men and women is that shaming is a much more effective way of controlling the former. For example, men pay for first dates to avoid being seen as broke, men don't open up to their partners because women typically don't take it well, a real man does..., etc. I find it quite useful to know when people are employing this tactic and not care about what they think of me. I am a man after all and I get to define masculinity for myself.

If a guy starts attacking a girl and other guys are around, it's not going to go well for him. There's plenty non-staged footage of this happening. Even when the woman instigates violence, people only step in when he hits her back. Holding innocent men responsible will make things worse as it will lead to resentment.

I saw one excusing rape/sexual coercion a little while back by saying women are raised to believe men always want sex. They blame the patriarchy for instilling 'toxic masculine' beliefs into women to remove any accountability from them. BTW, there was a lot of agreement with the above from other women in the sub and it was heavily upvoted.

It should just be called misandry or internalised misandry. Feminist seem to get angry when hearing that word, maybe because it doesn't fit in with their idea of the patriarchy. They're trying to convince men that their problems are a result of misogyny. Furthermore, by blaming men for their own issues, they remove accountability from the other half of the population for displaying sexism against men, 'the patriarchy instilled those beliefs in her'. If you look at how feminists are tackling 'tox…

Putting themselves in harms way isn't harmful to the average man? By the way, the idea of men putting their lives at risk to defend others, even strangers, is a tradcon viewpoint which is pushed by both the left and right. Misogyny is against Reddit's content policy whereas misandry is not. This mean admins won't do anything about misandry so it is left to moderators discretion. On the flip side, admins will step in to deal with misogyny even if mods won't. That's how I understand it anyway.

Close to all – 99.8% – of the people in prison convicted of rape are men. Due to the way rape is legally defined, it will always produce this result. Another point is that it states convicted rapists, men are much less likely to report to the authorities and women often get away with suspended sentences.

It's because they always look at men's issues through the lens of toxic masculinity instead of misandry. They want to peddle this idea that both men's issues and women's issues are rooted in misogyny. Maybe so they can promote their trickle down idea of equality. Toxic masculinity says that men don't seek help because they're afraid of being seen as weak or feminine. Also the advice given to partners varies based on gender. Let’s say a guy’s wife has hygiene issues, he will be told to indirectly fix the issue. ‘Don’t tell her you noticed some smell, instead tell her to shower with you.’ It’s like walking on eggshells. The word insecure is sometimes used to make men more docile. For example, a wife wanting to go on a trip with a male friend. If the man isn’t cool with it then he is insecure.

Whenever someone says "what about male victims" they are not trying to derail a conversation about women's issues, rather they are questioning why something that is not specifically a women's issue is treated as one in the first place. I think this is projection. They frequently bring up how it's worse for women when men's issues come up in order to minimise them, even though the issues they bring up are already highlighted and recognised as a problem.

Exactly. I don’t settle for women like that which eliminates most women from my dating pool. I’m in a relationship so I don’t need to worry about dating but if things go south, I’m just not going to bother dating. There’s this new excuse that women pay for expensive makeup and dresses to like nice for their date so men should pay for dates. Two problems with this. This is why I find it absurd that men are expected to pay all or most of the bills but this holds very little weight in terms of putting in effort in the relationship. To be accurate, women are not capable of raping men, women or children according to UK law. Society and the law in most countries say men consent to have a child simply by having sex, no ifs or buts (condom breaking, she forgot or intentionally didn't take her bc, etc.). There are no options for equal reproductive rights. Men are simply told to abstain from sex but I've also seen men be ridiculed for choosing to do this as well. Or they are told to have a vasectomy but a lot of people pushing this are telling men it's easily reversible, which isn't true.

Toxic masculinity is a convenient motte and bailey. The deeper meaning is that men's issues are caused by misogyny and the term allows feminists to cherry pick male gender roles under the guise of healthy or positive masculinity. I think we should just stick to misandry or internalised misandry.

There are 3 categories of severity from categories 1-3. Category 1 is the only one where the sentencing for section 4 and rape are the same. I think so too. This is why male perpetrated rape is met with disgust, whereas people are passive towards female perpetrated rape. I feel like the latter would be completely ignored if the former wasn't a thing. In regards to women not wanting to date bisexual men, it's also to do with rigid expectations of masculinity. A bisexual man is seen a effeminate by some women, similar to how some are turned off when they see men being vulnerable.

That's true. The vast majority of people still expect men to conform to their gender roles even though certain groups claim they've been fighting against it. It's a pointless statistic as well since many countries define rape so that only men can be perpetrators. It's like trying to compare whether 5 year old's or 25 year old's are more likely to be paedophiles, 5 year old's cannot be paedophiles by definition. To compare rapists by gender, we first need to make the legal definition of rape gender neutral.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/10/23 01:54 AM

I wouldn't mind it so much if it were gender neutral. We never teach males about recognising physical, mental, sexual or financial abuse when it's happening to them. We only teach females to recognise those things whilst only teaching males to not do them and to stop other males from doing them. As an example, people excuse women who have a fit when their partner says no to sex one time, saying that women have been raised to believe that men always want sex.

This is spot on. Trickle down equality will never help men. Also a few other ways they dismiss you: It's men doing it to other men. Men need to band together and do everything themselves like feminists did. Men only bring up their issues to minimise women's issues, they don't really care about men. It's funny how a lot of men will tell you this is common in relationships as well. 'Yeah, you can be sad but you have 30 minutes to get over it. Also, you better not claim to be upset over something I did otherwise that will upset me and then you'll have to console me.'

Men need to believe women and listen to women but also women don't need to listen to or believe men. Good observation. They are massive hypocrites. Also, we can't bring up our issues on their threads because men only want to minimise their issues. Okay, that's fine. Yet, they do the very thing they're criticising when the topic is regarding men. This is projection. they are quick to jump in and start demanding that women moderate those discussions and ensure their voices take precedent. I rememb…

Similarly, women are incapable of rape in the UK so 99% of rapists are men, the remaining 1% are women guilty through joint enterprise and trans women. So saying 99% of rapists are men is kind of meaningless since it's designed to be that way. The mayor of London also said that most DV committed against men is by other men (in homosexual relationships) and that female offenders were previously abused by their male victims. Feminists have been doing this for decades so they're experts at it. http…

I agree in the sense that they are used to describe the same issues, the difference lies in the cause of those issues. Some top comments from feminists: Toxic masculinity is not internalized misandry because it still holds men as better than women. Someone who is toxically masculine believes men are naturally better/smarter/stronger/nicer than women and should be in positions of authority. This cannot be misandry. You can argue that masculinity involves taking care of women but that is only beca…

The use of toxic masculinity by feminists is an indirect way of saying misandry doesn't exist. Male suicide? Men need to talk more, father's unlikely to receive custody? Raising kids is seen as a woman's job, etc. They want society to see men's issues as misogyny and believe that tackling misogyny will solve them. Since it's all misogyny, women's issues will receive all the attention and funding goes to feminist organisations. That is why they do nothing but provide lip service in order to make …

Yeah, they chalk it down to some trauma they faced or say it's a response to 'rampant misogyny'.

Someone once said on r/bpdlovedones that abusive borderlines are narcissists with a victim complex. There’s quite a bit of over lap with cluster B disorders from what I’ve read as well so I can’t help but agree. I’m quite sure the gendered associations with BPD and NPD works in favour of abusive borderlines. They always see themselves as victims and so does society. People hand wave their abuse because they went through ‘trauma’ as a child. Feminism itself is like political variety of BPD.

Pretty much. All the people against the new rule latched on to this idea of protecting women's only shelters as well. Like I said though, the rule didn't really affect them since it's up to local councils to decide. If the recent mayor's toolkit is anything to go by, they are convinced that male victim's of DV are primarily abused by other men in homosexual relationships and that female perpetrators are reactive abusers. Guess where they got this info from... Women's Aid lol.

Well one thing is, the ones at top who are behind these DV organisations receive government funding to line their pockets. The following was a petition filed by Women's Aid in the UK. The Government should recognise that domestic abuse is a gendered crime and women are the majority of victims and the vast majority of severe injury and domestic homicide victims, and require local authorities to fund specific domestic abuse services for women. We're very concerned that a number of local authoritie…

Yeah, that's the issue I have with the mr subreddit, at least a small chunk of the users anyway. Besides being pro military draft, they'll complain about stuff like divorce and alimony but then promote marrying traditional women. Like, you know how alimony works right? They're either dumb or they care more about traditional values and not men.

Sounds like the average feminist turning a blind eye, minus the ability to leave the chat lol.

Not surprised given most popular forms of media are quite misandrist, which is where AI get their info from unless I'm mistaken. Bing : Feminists did not do that. Lol, Women's Aid are still downplaying female on male abuse, stating that women as a whole are reactive abusers and that men are mainly abused in homosexual relationships. Where men are victim-survivors, they are less likely to experience a pattern of abuse, it is more likely to be a one-off incident. Some men and boys report that when…

TiTrC? I wonder why he's no longer a mod there I see he also mods TrollYChromosome, a subreddit with over 2M users but very infrequent posts and very little upvotes. I guess they wanted to get in and control the equivalent subreddit to trollx.
