Having read the book as well, you've perfectly outlined the book as far as I'm concerned. The thing I found most fascinating is she came into this with some preconceptions, thinking she was going to be able to show men for who they truly were (according to current orthodoxy) by becoming an insider. While she didn't exactly do a 180, the fact that she seemed to have dropped the idea that feminism was to be the saving grace for males and their masculinity, at least towards the end she agrees that …

This right here. Buy someone a drink as a gesture of comradery, not as a vehicle to the bedroom. It'll be a much better evening with the former, which might actually lead up to the latter.

MGTOW isn't about solving this problem (deliberately or intentionally). MGTOW is merely the self-preservation choice in today's world. I understand this, really I do. My contention is the MGTOW model of doing things, in today's climate, is not likely to work favorably for men. Given the way the author outlines how mere allegations are enough to ruin a man's life, by way of forcing men out of their career and bordering on reductionist politics, this is clearly outlining how to get men as a whole …

I don't know the gender of the author, but the last chapter of the book makes it clear that the book is parody... Perhaps I've misinterpreted the writing, but the last chapter didn't come across as a parody writing to me. Can you clue me in some on how this can be seen as such?

Quick quip: I was reluctant to buy this book as I believed the author/publisher didn't need any more financial incentive to spread this sort of vitriolic hate. However I felt the information was needed, for reasons related to the title; it is necessary to know how the "enemy" operates in order to combat against it properly. After reading this (it's short, 50 pages), I see a lot of the reason why "Men on Strike" by Helen Smith is so applicable to why there's a male/masculinity crisis, and why I t…

After reading, "Self-Made Man" by Norah Vincent (it is basically a confirmation bias book for male issues, but good leverage for arguing against identity politics since it's a woman making the arguments), I was blown away by her realization that while there's an argument for the "patriarchy" being oppressive towards men, there's also simultaneous redemption of male issues through the "patriarchy." This will be preaching to the choir here, but it sure was a relief to hear a feminist say the resol…

Sounds like they still want to change male behavior, the key takeaway I seem to gather is that it has to fit within their protocols and not actually take into account the perspectives of men. Another case of others knowing best for men.

I think the more worrying point to consider is this: ...in fact texts and social media messages before and after the encounter might be as compelling. The court of public opinion says that the actions leading up to the point when a crime is committed can't be discussed, to do otherwise is considered victim blaming. Yet in this case, it is acceptable to take into account actions preceding the moment where a crime may or may not have occurred, in order to be able to invalidate the recording of con…

There is merit behind what he said, in so much that there's emotional attraction to go with the physical attraction. It just so happens that many larger women tend to be more emotionally unstable than their skinnier sisters. I certainly wouldn't blame anyone for stereotyping here since personal experience has yet to demonstrate an exception. Good luck conveying that without sounding like a misogynist, but that's part of the beauty of mgtow, you don't need to care. Off-topic, so this just happene…

Isn't there a push for social normative behavior regarding breastfeeding? By this logic, women should be comfortable breastfeeding around anybody, including men. This same movement will even go so far as to call out men who denigrate them.

Similar arguments are being made about female circumcision, yet that one is denigrated by society and the male counterpart is praised. Both are considered genital mutilation by definition, and when both are not treated with equal repulsivness, something is wrong.

This can go many different ways with doctors denying services based on age. To speak through the MGTOW and men's rights lens for a moment, take a guy trying to get a vasectomy in his early 20s without kids and you can be certain he'll be met with resistance. It's certainly his right as an individual to decide for himself if he wishes to take these sort of birth control measures, but giving doctors stewardship in situations like this removes personal agency. People make life altering decisions al…

There's certainly some ethical dilemma to be had with making such life altering decisions below the age of full development. My only opposing argument is if we're to treat 18 as the boundary between adults and children, anyone under the age of 25 and over the age of 18 is socially construed as being adult enough to make these choices for themselves. They also get to be adult enough to live with the consequences. Either that or we artifically raise the legal age of adulthood to 26. I'm sure there…

Good question. I don't believe so, since they seem to support family values. I remember hearing of some military members considering it and talking about having to go to alternative resources like planned parenthood and paying out of pocket.

It's usually age restricted to above 25 in the US as well, but there's also the stipulation of having had at least 2 kids. At least that was my experience with military healthcare (as a dependent, ex-spouse was serving). I think it's largely due to cost, since if someone changes their mind they'll have to basically do the same procedure 3 times (first snip, undo, then another snip). It's around $2,000 per procedure from what I was told, and if they're having to spend for 10 guys at a time, and t…

Doctors. Seriously. When I had mine done, I was the only one in the group of guys getting counseled on the procedure who didn't have kids. The counselor made it a point to let me know that there would need to be a specific doctor I would need to speak with. Had I not been made aware, I likely would have had to go through a series of doctors to find the "good" one. Even then, I had to be counseled with the doctor and my now ex-wife to make sure this is what was desired from both of us (because in…

Play their game and spit it right back in their face. If they believe gender is a social construct, that would be grounds to claim non-binary presenting androginously in this case. And if they give you flack about it, call them out on the grounds of hate speech for misgendering you based on assuming your pronouns, and shame them as transphobic.

Imo, I don’t think this is actually that bad. These demands are quite a lot but it is what goes into a relationship, and is really fine if it’s mutual. It shouldn’t be a huge time sink or shouldn’t drain a lot of your time/take away from other important things, it shouldn’t take overly or extraordinary effort, and she shouldn’t be a priority 7 days a week or 24/7. This is going to sound a bit conspiratorial, but I often wonder if the gender pronoun nonsense is a play to legitimize women's suffering, even if it's consequential. In this example, if there are 80 or so different genders (which is false), any one of those remaining 75% could be any number of those genders. So with 25% of the homeless population being women, and the remaining 75% gets spread out over a larger pool, that really begins to make that 25% sound more severe.

I'm not whipping anything here, nor caving into feminist rhetoric. All I'm saying is if you're going to play their game of ad hoc attacks, expect to be received the same way we receive. This gets us nowhere. Instead, we should be focusing efforts on dissolution of their ideology; point out and demonstrate everything that's wrong with it, and how elevating of one gender while denigrating of another gender is the same moral sexism they claim to be fighting against, yet continue to perpetuate.
/r/MensRights14/05/18 11:37 PM

Fighting fire with fire only results in a bigger fire, in this case. All these feminists and feminist sympathisers will do is point to the oppressive patriarchy if MRAs play those games. Best to take their ideology down with intellect, and not emotion.

I'm going to combine a bit here since your first and last paragraphs kind of touch on the same subject. Not trying to take you out of context here. ...i think there has to be something that helps prevent gun violence by criminals more so that the balance is more skewed towards normal citizens having guns and not criminals. I find it rather annoying to know that the govt isn't trying harder to keep guns out of the hands of criminals. I mean no offense when I say this, but I think you're caught in…

But why then do people who are mentally unstable have such an easy access to guns? I don't really get that. This comes down to a right being opted out of, vs a privilege that has to be opted into. To give some examples, it's a pretty safe bet to say people have a personal right to sex (alongside the responsibility of consent and safety). Now we can take this right away if it is abused, which is the case for certain pedophiles and arguably certain rapists; society has a pretty good way of damning…

If you don't mind a bit of long-form text, I can fill in the blanks since it sounds like there are a lot of holes in your understanding. I'll try to keep it short and simple here for now so the basics are clear. There are federal regulations that must be followed, first and foremost. Something I'm curious about, if you don't mind, is how easy do you think firearm access is in the US?
/r/MGTOW19/04/18 03:15 PM
21

Except that tends to not happen. Even if 1 of the perps had a gun, there's a high probability they would go running at the immediate brandish of the defensive firearm. Even if the bad guys pulled first, soon as the good guy draws they'll go running. Just look up defensive gun surveillance on YouTube, or head over to /r/dgu and look for videos there. Bad guys want to live to see tomorrow, just as much as you or I.

Oh it's a lovely area, I was glad I came back since there just isn't much in this country quite like it. It's hard to beat being able to be in an urban environment, then an hour or so later you can end up deep in the forest with absolute seclusion. The pay gap is a variety of factors. Bottom line is women opt into the pay-gap voluntarily in order to better manage their lives with work and raising a family. This means that women, in general, prefer a more compromised approach to living compared to men. It's not so much that women are incapable of the same physical labor (although an argument could be made there), only that men tend to be more direct in their pursuits.
/r/MGTOW14/02/18 07:06 AM

If you want to hate on women be my guest, it's certainly your right to do so. However, whether you agree with it or not, perception is a reality in this world. The promotion of these hatred ideas, while warranted, promotes mgtow in a light similar to the feminazis we love to hate on. If we're to be taken seriously and make a point, we're no better than those we hate. We really should be aiming to be better than they.

I have to disagree. I realize I'm one anecdote, but I feel such broad strokes like this are disingenuous. The team I work for, our boss and her boss, leave us all the hell alone to do our job. Perhaps these two are the exception to the rule, but they seem to grasp the idea that the team of men they manage work better taking friendly jabs at each other (they get in on it sometimes too), and being left to our own devices to get the job done. I realize it's easy to claim AWALT, and that there isn't…

True. It's the horseshoe effect in our politics. Both sides have shifted to their extremes to the point they're going for state ran institutions. The left just seems to not hide their intentions, they make it blatantly clear with their oppression olympics and socialist views. The right just seems to hide their intentions through the church, or at least that's the perspective I get from them.

The social problems we do have are caused by the abandonment of individual responsibility. No one is ever at fault for their own problems and no one has the power to improve their own circumstances. This is the ideology of today's Western society. Why would someone need to take responsibility when the modern-leftists will gladly solve your problems for you? Also personal responsibility is difficult and full of unknowns, which is scary. People would much rather be comfortable in their echo-chambe…

I have not seen that, thank you for sharing. Personally, I find the notion of anti-objectification to be nonesense, as it goes against our instincts for reproduction. We really ought to accept the reality, and just make sure the objectification is consensual i.e. the person wishes to be objectified in a certain manner. Demonizing those that choose to do so is basically slut-shaming IMO.
/r/MensRights01/02/18 04:18 PM
1

I get what they're trying to do, it's this idea of removing sexual objectification of a subject. If feminists think the world will be a better place because of it, by all means go for it. There are two caveats that come with this though. The first being they'll have to find a way that doesn't infringe on a person's individual choice to be objectified, good luck. Second, to be intellectually consistent, they should be willing to remove images like this if they truly stand for equality and against…

Oh I agree on the hypocrisy. In fact, they're actually starting to be a bit more hypocritical in my area (seattle) since they've legalized cannabis, but are now taxing sugar as a means of telling people what they shouldn't put in their bodies. Either we let people decide for themselves across the board, or we just let the government take over. I don't think I have to dive into why the latter isn't a good idea..

Eating processed foods and meat and shit like Oreos and stuff like that is what causes problems, yet the FDA and the government doesn't ban or moniter them. As they shouldn't. It's not up to the government to tell people how much of a macro nutrient (in this case, carbohydrates) to take in. I'm not discounting the evidence that a carb-rich diet has a tendency to lead towards a sedentary lifestyle and the associated health problems, this is something that should be left up to the people to decide…

Environment can make or break a bar experience IMO. I don't do the whole "loud bar that's trying to be a club" atmosphere since you can't converse with friends or hear the random stories from the town drunk (can be quite funny/entertaining sometimes). Dive bars, the local hipster craft-brew pub (usually for the obscure beer), or pool halls are where it's at IMO, since they're reasonably quiet and where the obnoxious people stand out like a sore thumb and more likely to be kicked out.

I can't help but wonder if Aziz is being fought for because he's brown. this so-called "consent" can be withdrawn any time... As it should be IMO, at least within the context of the sex act as it occurs. If someone is in the middle of said act, they have the right to withdraw consent for any reason they see fit, anything other than a two-party withdraw at that point constitutes a rape. I do agree with you on retroactively withrdawing consent. If someone consented from beginning to end, and then later regrets their choice, it's too late to cry rape IMO. You live with…

Maybe I can fill in the blanks. I think part of it is how we as a society condition individuals. In contrast, women are conditioned to act in a certain manner that supports the need to evaluate emotions more quickly. Takes a strong person to sit down in front of a mirror and ask themselves the hard questions. "If he was showing signs/symptoms, what did I miss?" "How did I fail to support him when he needed it the most?" "What actions did I take to push him this way?" Anyone who claims "they" did this to "them," clearly is not a strong person. That's the so-called "patriarchy" isn't it. Nevermind that feminism was about giving women the choice to decide for themselves, if they don't choose to follow feminist conformity, they're being held back by men. There seems to be a clear lack of personal choice amongst new-age feminists.

That was pretty much what got me through that mess emotionally. Was a very rough time, but I'm now a better person because of it, and am in a better position now.

Once you stop providing, women have no use for you. Pretty much nailed it. I'll spare the sob story, but this is basically what happened with my ex when I lost my job. Goes to show that when you need them the most, they'll bounce right out of your life. That might have been my saving grace with the divorce since I had no income, can't exactly take half of nothing.

I think this would realistically only apply to those looking to breed, men just don't have the biology to carry a child (obviously). So basically she's saying women are nothing more than breeding vessels, basically she thinks women are sex objects. That's rather sexist, but something tells me she's too indoctrinated into her culture to really see this. I also think the same could be said for those that take her message to heart.

That's a fair point, thank you for the perspective.

My point is if women's movements get to use "survivor" as a term for getting out of abusive relationships and sexual assault, we should be able to equally apply it to men.

Would dare say survivors in the present tense for those who have been victimized.

I just got done watching her documentary, "The Red Pill." Was a tough watch since so much hit close to home, but very much worth getting through.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
