What about commitments to friends and the families you form through them? Blood relatives do not necessarily mean "care" and "love." If someone doesn't want to commit to a romantic relationship nor have children, they may as well be as perfectly fine as someone else who does want those things! They may have religion, surrogate nieces and nephews, and healthy/strong bonds with friends and other relatives. Who are you and your experiences to say theirs aren't just as committed/moral?

Therapists are professionals intending to help their clients, like doctors. There could be plenty of cases of bad faith therapists, just like there could be plenty of cases of bad faith doctors. But that doesn't negate the fact that the majority of people in those professions are there to serve other people, and if a therapist is offering advice (even if the client doesn't like what they hear) they are doing it with good intentions to help the person. It's also okay to not "match" with the first…

My current SO has never asked me about anything of this manner, he has way more important things to think about like his work and hobbies, or making me happy :). On the other hand, I know the intimate details of some of the previous women he has been with because they were in a friend group close to my own. I could fixate on the details I am aware of, but that would make me so unhappy! So instead I focus on how I can improve our relationship and make him happy!

I think you should try your best to not focus on other women. If you are living your life in a way that makes you genuinely happy and healthy, then that is all you can ask for!

You do not tell or send her anything, you have no right to reprimand her about her past or guilt her into changing anything for you because you feel like she had a slutty past. You should reevaluate for yourself if she would be a good partner for you, the way she is now. If she is loving and cares for you, isn't that what is important? And even if she is, but you want to hold her history against her, then just move on to someone else that you deem to be a better match!

Hitler was a horrendous person. Hypothetically, Stacy (who has a high count) is a businesswoman with a proven track record and would be referred to as successful. Laura (who has a high count) spends her time doing humanitarian work and would be referred to as a generous person. You see? We can refer to bad people who do bad things as BAD. We can also refer to good people who do good things as GOOD. N-count does not equate to a person's value. If a person would prefer a less experienced partner…

I would hope no sane, healthy woman would lock herself into marriage with a man that refers to other human beings (another woman no less) as "piece of meat" or "trashy meat." I would be mortified.

Try taking some time alone at the start of each morning to focus on how you want to conduct yourself throughout the day. For example, I always like to meditate on being compassionate to everyone I encounter throughout the day, but on days I’m feeling a little down on myself I might pick something else to focus on like being confident or trusting my abilities. This helps me feel like I am in control of the day, no matter what happens, instead of feeling like the day controlled means my feelings.

IMO, I think there are healthy and unhealthy uses of it. I don’t live with my SO (but we do spend the majority of the week at one another’s places) and sometimes we travel to different cities or states. When we are in the same city, we have a healthy sex life, so there isn’t a need for either of us to watch porn (but we have occasionally watched it together!). Still, when one of us is traveling (for example, he spent two months out of the country for work) we both have needs that we are capable …

If it is something you feel so strongly about that you made a reddit post, then I think you need to have a serious conversation with him about how you feel. A captain is going to lead with his crew’s interest in mind - let him know what yours are.

I completely agree. Virginity should never be a measure of anyone's worth, if it was really that important to the value of a person then society would regard virginity equally between men and women - not only in our modern age but during all of history (which was not the case). But qualities like honor and integrity, being humble and kind, treating others with respect and dignity have been upheld throughout time because they are the qualities that matter! I feel like I had a similar experience t…

If you find for whatever reason you cannot let go of the painful/hurt emotions you feel when thinking of a person or situation after attempting to genuinely “put yourself in their shoes,” try closing your eyes and meditating/thinking/praying about someone you really love. When you feel that warm, fuzzy feeling swell in your heart, focus and hold on to it, let it grow and fill you up. Then, imagine the other person. You might feel a whole range of emotions - especially negative ones - but try and…

So in this instance, I would personally imagine the hardships and weight of their mental illness (in cases of bipolar or anxiety/depression, etc.) or the environmental factors that influenced who they became (an abusive parent, or even just nonexistent role models) to help myself genuinely feel their pain. We probably have all experienced women who are just terrible, whether they are mean, rude, backstabbing, or whatever. But they didn’t come out of the womb this way (barring mental illnesses of…

I like to understand forgiveness as truly empathizing and putting yourself in another’s shoes to understand why they acted the way they did. The other person is human too, and humans react in similar ways to similar internal and external pressures. It’s not about pitying the other party - that’s just a mask for placing yourself / your actions above theirs - but truly experiencing the situation through their eyes and being graceful enough to recognize your own faults in the situation. Again, it’s…

I understand where you are coming from, I am truly my happiest surrounded by friends + family, food, and wine! But I personally cannot spend every waking moment with other people. For example - I like to read and learn every day, but unsurprisingly my SO and best friends do not enjoy spending a few hours in silence reading a book or studying something new, and that is totally fine! But if I do not take some "self-care" time for myself, then I end up feeling upset that my needs are being ignored …

I’m thinking that you should talk to him about your needs first (if you haven’t already had an explicit conversation- “it makes me happy to dress like this” “I want to help you cope, but I also need exercise/a gym membership/etc. for my own mental health” etc.). If he cannot address your needs adequately, then you can give those reasons as why the relationship isn’t COMPATIBLE. If he is struggling with his mental health then you need to establish that the issues are not “his fault” per say, they…

I have oily/combination skin (depends on the weather and region), and had the same fear when I first started a skincare routine! I would suggest finding a moisturizer or primer/foundation (whichever you would use daily) that has SPF instead of just sunscreen. You won't be able to tell a difference! I use Laura Mercier's Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer (20 SPF and acts as a super light foundation) and also use Mario Badescu's Oil-Free Moisturizer (17 SPF) daily. All of my skincare is from Badescu and…
