For 1-night stands, men prioritise physical attractiveness less, and women prioritise it more, then it's the other way around for long-term relationships. My impression is that the reference in Blackstone is to another older jurist saying pretty much what Blackstone said (ie it doesn't happen today but it used to). Perhaps, or it could be an actual law. This study seems to indicate that men experience less pain than women when the stimulus is large amounts of physical pressure, since it's based on autonomous indicators of pain so there wouldn't be any societal expectations confounding the results. There only seems to be a difference at high levels of pain though, and the study only examined pain caused by applying pressure to their fingers.
