- I would stop putting money in the joint account ASAP. Also ask the bank what you can do to remove yourself. I didn't have joint accounts while married. I sure wouldn't have it while not married. Joint accounts only benefit the bank if one of you overdraw. - What is the cost to break lease? What alternative housing can you find? The dog if she doesn't want it do you? if not can you find it a home? I think I covered all the items.

I think you are thinking this like we all are going to be exchanging gold eagles or what not on a daily basis. Even in a traditional gold standard very few folks held it. It was for big ticket purchase like a house or a business. Usually then bank notes like in your wallet just private banks rather than the central bank or a check. In 1933 FDR outlawed private ownership of gold in the US and the lasted till Jan 1975. Yeah at one point men had to be circed to be in US Army. That got pushed into S Korean society after Korean war. I have 3 boys it was a fight w the first one esp. to not do it in the Midwest.

Currently it’s borrowed into existence, which is why debt in society as a whole can never be repaid. A gold standard depending on the type is mined. Have no idea. I have seen tuition reimburse while employed never payment of loans. I wouldn't bet on it. If you get employed at such a place take advantage.

$22k today? Meh as long as you don't incur other debts like big mortgage, car etc you should be fine. I'd point out there two sides to debt reduction equation expenses which is discussed in this thread. Also there is income. You could do some sort of PT or contract work, some from home and wipe it out in a year or two. At your stage in life I'd suggest renting. Because that will give you more flexibility to move quickly to obtain new work for higher pay. Will you regret majoring in it? I dunno. …

Wait what? Kids doesn't go to preschool they will never catch up? Things have moved from education to indoctrination in the five and a half decades since you were in preschool. Things have absolutely changed. Even in divorce my ex-wife and I agree no way will our kids be put in public school.
