i would argue that atheists love to provoke religious folks. it goes both ways. Generally religious people are "provoked" just by the mere mention of atheism. Have you considered that perhaps these atheists are at all times provoked just about any moment they state their position? It gets really annoying.

Atheism seems to view science as it's unexaminable belief system. This is erroneous, science by its very nature is examinable, it has to be or else it doesn't work. Science sets an uncompromising set of standards, that is absolutely the opposite of dogmatic. Religion just makes things up, and philosophy is a whole lot of sophisticated word play that only exists because of the inadequacy of language.

I honestly don't care about what people believe as long as it stays out of government and isn't being pushed on society. That said in my private time, amongst other atheists I see nothing wrong with being critical of what religion preaches.
