No, she is an only child. Only cousins are male. Our daughter is 5 you perv! :)

I can understand that. If it happened to me, I would probably just back away slightly and apologize profusely. Though I do admit that I might tell me wife about "that bitch that I bumped into today" later that night.

This makes perfect sense, as long as you allow for true accidents (crowded dance floor, someone turning around at the wrong time etc.). Though I do feel in that situation an apology is in order from the toucher to the touchee.

Same situation here. My sister was born when I was 13 and my wife was a bit of a wreck for the first few weeks. She still thanks me for stepping up 5 years later though...

How long is the beginning? 11 years so far for my wife and it hasn't slowed yet. Do you have a link to any of those numerous studies that prove it?
/r/MensRights22/12/10 09:24 PM

Yes it can. I was paying way more than that for basic liability once upon a time.

Be very careful. They may have changed, but they used to use an itemized approach to deductibles. If you go to the ER after an accident, every line item charge (ER fee, doctor fee, X-ray fee, etc.) has your deductible applied. I got burned badly by this several years ago.

I have plenty of luck talking to my wife and mother-in-law. Honestly don't get into these kinds of conversations much outside of home.

I would say it is not the role of government to fix that type of systemic issue (except with education). Their role is to make the laws equitable to all.

They can call, but I don't think any charges can be pressed. I know they do a walk/event in NYC every year with lots of topless women to prove they have the right.
/r/MensRights10/12/10 04:12 PM

Well, in NY women are legally able to go topless anywhere a man is.

I was engaged at 20 and married at 23. I hit 30 in a few months and wouldn't have it any other way.

While I agree, I do wonder how much of that is due to the nature of the work itself. There is a huge difference in the amount of self worth generated from building something vs. pushing meaningless paperwork around.

I respectfully disagree. When in doubt do it for the story. A life lived conservatively and safely is a boring life - and you only get one!

Mow lawns, babysit, or find a farm and pick corn. Winter is coming so walk door to door and offer to shovel driveways for $10. Most will pay below minimum wage but be under the table so no taxes. When I was a teen I had to drive 45 mins and cross state lines to get a job at Dunkin donuts that paid $5.50/hr (late 90's). You can't be picky as a teen.

Ok, you son is 16. I fully understand covering the cloths, food and drink and household expenses. But why isn't he paying for the car, insurance, gas, iphone, and X-Box live! If you are doing well, I guess I could see covering a basic cell phone for security/safety reasons ("dumb" tracphone with 50mins/mo or equiv.) and maybe X-Box live as part of a gift (birthday/X-mas) but that is it! I say this as a parent of 2 children
/r/MensRights08/11/10 05:27 PM

Agreed - As of 14 I was basically on my own for food, cloths, car, etc. I plan to do better than that by my kids, but If you have a car, you pay for it!

Kids throwing a tantrum can "intend to hurt you" but certainly not be physically able. When my 1 year old doesn't want to stop playing, he will sometimes slap my arms when I pick him up. That does NOT give me the right to punch him!

Sorry just expanding on your point "If a girl hits (a man) than he has EVERY right to fully defend himself. Period"
/r/MensRights29/10/10 01:57 AM

Sorry, If I get hit by a girl (i.e. prepubescent, lets say 5 years old) that does not give me the right to hit them back.
/r/MensRights28/10/10 11:38 PM

So if a child hit you, you would hit them back? I know that is a bit over the top, but I am just pointing out that everything has shades of grey

I would say violence is an effective solution to violence, sometimes the only solution.

Well, I can certainly agree with the last part. I had a 5pm curfew through high school unless I was working or at a school function (band, sports)

Thank you, yes she is! I have seen that too, but I think that behavior has far more to do with an entitlement attitude than a violent nature.

Sorry - I should have been clearer. It was all done in a teasing manner We both knew she wouldn't hurt me and were laughing at the time. It wasn't a fight in any definition of the word. Sorry for the confusion.

Just commenting on male/female violence in general. While I fully feel that no (harmful) violence is acceptable, relative strengths do need to be weighted. A couple days ago a gave my wife a slightly too hard love tap on the hindquarters (playful) and see demanded a hit back. So I let her hit me in the arm. End of the story is she hurt her hand and not my arm. I think if put in the situation, any response has to be proportional. If someone attacks someone they cannot physically hurt (regardless …

Oh - I fully agree that the system as is is broken, I was just replying to the fact that the courts do in fact have reason to "think of the children"
/r/MensRights16/10/10 01:27 PM

As far as equal treatment goes, no. The parents are (typically) legal adults and able to make decisions for themselves. the child is not and therefore needs an adult to do so. If the parents are not doing this, the court has to step in an do it.

When I went to college, we had to go to a presentations whre we were basically told If she says no - its rape If she say maybe - its rape If she says yes - its rape If you are married with children and she asks you for it - its rape Basically the message was all sexual contact between a male and female is rape and so should be avoided at all costs

Not sure = I had read a story about a burglar falling though a skylight and cutting himself on a kitchen knife while a family was away. He hten sued and won damages from the family for his injury, not sure of the veracity though

Unfortunately you could probably get away with that - the suing for damages at least.

I am sorry - my wife makes me feel wanted I would say about 80% of the times we have sex (say 4 out of 5 encounters a week). The 20% where I don't feel that way really hit the ego so I couldn't imagine it being all the time! The other way does happen as well, just not as often because on average I have a higher sex drive.

You are welcome. I guess I can see the issue that would bring up (making breaking up in general more difficult), but if you are thinking marriage, then you are probably at this point anyways.

Hello SnakeJG, I just want to jump in (and share the downvotes) to say that I agree with everything you are saying here. I would also like to add my 2 cents. I think one of the most important ways to "get to know someone" before marriage is to live with them. This can bring to light so many problems that are far easier to deal with before you are married. Also, I think the focus of Mens Rights should be to change the laws that allow the completely lopsided divorces to occurs, not to attack marri…

I get what you are saying, that it is an all or nothing rather than an exchange, but that value is what is used to define your commitment to a person. It is what you are putting on the line.

Sorry, I am going to have to back up SnakeJG here. I completely understand the financial impact of all of the risks you just mentioned but that is why you don't marry anyone who isn't worth that much to you. To me that is what it is saying, that you value the person you are marrying higher than you value the financial risk. Also please keep in mind that while laws are certainly slanted towards women in case of divorce, a woman is also risking the same when she gets married. I completely agree th…

Just use this logic. All sex is rape, but only women are allowed to prosecute. They can exercise this option at any time. If a man is passed out drunk and a sober women has sex with him, he has raped her if she so desires. the ethics may not make sense, but that is effectively the law.
/r/MensRights03/09/10 03:50 PM

That was absolutly horrible, but IMHO far more reflective of existential angst than relationships. Most of the issues brought up are far more reflective of the pointlessness of human existance than anything to do with relationships.

I think we are both saying the same things in different ways. With the examples you just gave I completely agree with the spanking. I was thinking more of something like the following - kid gets out too many toys. You see them doing this, say no - pick that up first. If they disobey, then spanking is warranted, however I find that in most cases just saying no gets the appropriate behavior.
/r/MensRights18/08/10 11:56 PM

I think you are misunderstanding what I am saying (or perhaps I just said it badly). What I was intending to convey was that for some children, merely the act of telling them they are misbehaving (in a firm tone) is sufficient for them to correct themselves due to the shame/guilt they feel at having done wrong. I am not intending any action by a parent/teacher than simply saying "No, that was wrong" or "You are being bad" (i.e. no talk of feelings). Please also don't think that I am against span…

I think for the most part we will just have to agree to disagree - though I do respect your opinion. As for the fairness of laws, I don't see how it would be that difficult, just leave out any mention of gender/race/etc.. While this certainly wouldn't solve all problems with law it would eliminate any institutionalized prejudices.
/r/MensRights18/08/10 10:36 PM

In this instance either physical or emotional pain can be used to good effect. Some children respond much better to being shamed than they do to spanking (i.e. telling them they are bad/naughty in public, just never use "bold" I hate that)

IMHO thinking as a group with a victim mentality is what got us where were are now and more of the same medicine is not the answer. I think a better method is to work together to show how current policies are damaging individuals so that laws can be changed to address situations on there individual merits regardless of gender/race/creed/etc. Everyone should be exactly equal in the eyes of the law.
/r/MensRights18/08/10 10:21 PM

I completely disagree with this article. I think the problem is actually exactly the opposite. Things would be a lot better if everyone stopped thinking of themselves as a gender/group/race and started thinking of themselves as individual. This is the ONLY way to end prejudices.

Question for you, what would you think about a situation where one partner has unilaterally decided that they are no longer interested in sex and it will no longer be happening. This partner has also made it clear that they consider masturbation tantamount to cheating. (I know this is a bit of a straw man)
/r/MensRights24/07/10 03:50 PM

That is the whole point. You want to make sure she loves you and not your money/status/earning potential. It limits the field to those you would want to marry!
