This was really well articulated, man. It voiced thoughts that I couldn't properly put into words

I've begun to take the approach of actually being myself and being honest when talking, and I have at least talked to more girls now. Yet in the end it seems to just lead to having another pen pal with whom I either just talk about interests with or the conversations becomes solely about them and then I just feel like I'm just talked at instead of having a conversation.

But then I'd have no one to waste any effort or energy on

Depends on which pocket you keep your wallet in. They could be on your left, or your right! Behind you or in front of you! Or behind a paywall!

So what happened with her after that?

I appreciate your reply as well! Ahh gotcha. I think maybe for some guys, there MIGHT be some truth in it? I do like challenges and get bored if something is simple, though that hasn't extended to romance and such for me yet. Though there's the extreme, where if a girl was all over me and leaving no space what so ever and seemingly obsessed with me, then I would be put off but not for the reason of wanting a chase. Ultimately I am under the view of and I look for a reciprocated level interest so…

Well damn. Maybe that's the case for some or most guys? I can't speak for every man of course. Of all the girls I've pursued and all relationships I've had, it's usually been the feeling that I'm carrying everything and that the girl's not as into me or interested in me that has ended things. The "chase" would only be interesting if I feel like I'm getting somewhere and it's reciprocated. It's not that I'm looking for an easy, entirely non challenging experience or to make no effort though, just…

Are women seriously told by all of those sources to be that way? Because to me that has the exact opposite effect. I don't waste my time with girls that don't want to chat, that don't seem keen on me, or that don't show interest. If I'm not worth any of that to her, why should she be worth it for me?

First kiss doesn't have to be a makeout or long or anything. It could be a slow, but singular peck to say goodbye.

Okay so I see a lot of people saying to speak man to woman, but really what is this? How do I differentiate a regular conversation with a woman vs a man to woman conversation with her?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
