I'd respond by asking isn't it a different kind of "power" to be the centre of attention at social gatherings or go into negotiations about your employment with genuine, better alternatives opposed to manipulation? Both of those situations don't involve people doing something against their own interests. At the social gathering, people are genuinely interested in the person and the employer stands to keep on someone who's talents are recognised elsewhere.

Latin Dancing. It's a mild work out, it can be cool to watch, women seem to like it and it will improve your social skills. It's actually pretty hard, but if you're aiming to eventually compete you'll learn A LOT during the practice up to the competition. Martial arts are also good. I grapple and do MMA. Unfortunatley my experience with this is that if she has no interest in diet and exercise there's very little you can do. Maybe talk about how awesome the gym makes you feel and why.
