Right to choose; parental responsibilityLong before I became pregnant I saw the documentary The Business of Being Born, which spurred my desire to have the healthiest possible pregnancy and delivery. Additionally, my aunt is a nationally recognized midwife. Had my husband agreed, I would have had a home birth. I had a midwife all throughout my pregnancy, and though I gave birth in a hospital, I had a midwife attend the birth, rather than an OBGYN. I chose the hospital where I delivered because it has the lowest c-section rate in the s… | /r/AntiFeminists | 07/10/22 06:22 AM
Right to choose; parental responsibilityI don’t know why you’re making a personal attack on me; I don’t think I’ve been disrespectful toward you, but please let me know if you feel otherwise. As for my lifestyle, I teach yoga and lift weights, both of which have been complicated by hyper-mobility exacerbated by the pregnancy hormone, relaxin. I go horseback riding three days a week, which has been more exertion than when I was running 5ks several times a week. As cross training, I peloton, and have a home squat rack. Additionally, I d… | /r/AntiFeminists | 07/10/22 06:13 AM
Right to choose; parental responsibilityI can’t say how you or I would feel. I’ve luckily never had to make either decision. I can say that my mom never stopped wondering and worrying about the baby she gave up. She always worried that the baby wasn’t being taken care of, that she wasn’t happy. The guilt is something my mom still struggles with, even though she knows there was no way she could have kept the baby. Sadly, in my half-sister’s situation, she wasn’t okay. We don’t know where she is, or if she‘s even alive. The last we hear… | /r/AntiFeminists | 07/10/22 05:51 AM
Right to choose; parental responsibilitySome women have easy pregnancies, others don’t. There’s no way to know which you will experience. I had a smooth pregnancy, and a relatively complication-free delivery, but six years later, my shoulders dislocate easily, and my hips still twinge resulting from pregnancy hormones, both of which have been a natural result of being pregnant and carrying to term. | /r/AntiFeminists | 07/10/22 05:34 AM
Right to choose; parental responsibilityI don’t understand your last comment. Are you saying you would not give a baby up for adoption, or you wouldn’t feel bad giving a baby up for adoption? Or something else, entirely. I want to understand. | /r/AntiFeminists | 07/10/22 05:25 AM
Right to choose; parental responsibilityI couldn’t agree more. It’s also just easier for the doctors, and increases the c-section rate which means more money for the hospitals. | /r/AntiFeminists | 07/10/22 05:17 AM
Right to choose; parental responsibilityWhile I disagree that abortion kills a child, I believe that is ends the *possibility* of a child. I can definitely empathize with a man feeling disappointment or grief that the pregnancy is not continued. It’s just one of many reasons that we need to really know the people we have sex with. | /r/AntiFeminists | 07/10/22 05:15 AM
Right to choose; parental responsibilityI think adoption would feel like more of an option to people if pregnancy didn’t take such a toll on a person‘s body, both in the short, and long term. What’s more, the United States has the highest mother and infant mortality rate of all the western world. Even if a woman has an easy pregnancy, and birth, the psychological turmoil of giving a baby up for adoption will likely last her entire life. I saw this personally with my own mother who gave up a baby for adoption, not to mention the issues… | /r/AntiFeminists | 07/10/22 04:42 AM
Right to choose; parental responsibilityI’ve been thinking about this a lot recently, and my opinion is, no, you can’t opt out when there is a living child who knows what hunger is, or the undeserved shame that goes with being poor in America. If the woman “opts out” via abortion, there’s no child to suffer. But if either parent “opts out” of financial responsibility to an existing child, the kid suffers at no fault of their own. Ultimately, it’s not responsibility to the mother, but to the child that you had part in making. | /r/AntiFeminists | 07/10/22 04:18 AM
Anti-Feminism?I obviously have no problem with people expressing traditional gender roles. Or non-traditional, for that matter. The feminist part of me is more concerned with a person’s ability to choose, rather than what they choose. Also, as a feminist, I can tell you, no, I wouldn’t likely be as attracted to my husband if he was much shorter. Nor would I demand someone find me attractive. I don’t think it’s sexist to find certain body-types attractive. As far as I’m concerned any man gets to cry as much as… | /r/AntiFeminists | 16/01/22 07:34 AM
Our subreddit is currently having a wave of people coming from outside sources like r/all to come and downvote all our things, we are seeing a wave of incels questioning why this subreddit exists and arguing against us.“Incel” has more to do with a person’s actions than their sex life. You could want to have sex, not have said sex, and treat people decently. Or you could want to have sex, not have said sex, and treat people poorly as a result One is someone who isn’t having sex, the other is an incel. | /r/AntiFeminists | 16/01/22 07:17 AM
Anti-Feminism?I think of it more like Egalitarian > subcategory: feminist. In this context I’m speaking as a feminist. If we were talking about the lack of resources for men who are victims of dv, I’d be Egalitarian > subcategory: masculinist. It’s important to acknowledge men and women have distinct needs and failings. Edit: typo | /r/AntiFeminists | 16/01/22 07:02 AM
| -1 | Anti-Feminism?Do you think any individual can be a feminist who really does strive for equality? | /r/AntiFeminists | 16/01/22 06:10 AM |
Anti-Feminism?I have thought that about Cardi B. for YEARS! I haven’t heard it as a feminist talking-point, but I have a real problem with everyone’s acceptance of her past actions. As a feminist, I truly believe that she victimized men, and to say otherwise denies men’s humanity, and women’s capacity. I hadn’t considered how I would react if a man did the same thing. I think I probably would feel even more outraged, which isn’t right. That’s a blind spot I’m going to try to be more aware of. | /r/AntiFeminists | 16/01/22 06:04 AM
when you point out to her that genital mutilation (often without anesthesia) is performed on 80% of male babies in the US (she seems OK with that but not if the same happens to female babies)Hey, I’m a woman and a feminist, you can check my history to verify. The anatomy of the penis is such that the foreskin provides an intense amount of sensation. So circumcision reduces sensation in both men and women. As for circumcision being done against someone’s will: a baby can’t consent. Male circumcision and female circumcision are both mutilation. | /r/AntiFeminists | 16/01/22 05:50 AM
when you point out to her that genital mutilation (often without anesthesia) is performed on 80% of male babies in the US (she seems OK with that but not if the same happens to female babies)I agree that the reasoning is different, and abhorrent, but at the end of the day, male circumcision is just as much mutilation as female circumcision. | /r/AntiFeminists | 16/01/22 05:46 AM
Anti-Feminism?I want women and men to be equal earners, and just for reference, I’m a housewife. But my sister, isn’t interested in getting married, so she’ll never have a dual income household. Does it seems right that she should make a comparable living to that of a man in the same position, with the same qualifications? | /r/AntiFeminists | 16/01/22 05:42 AM
Anti-Feminism?As a feminist, I appreciate that, too | /r/AntiFeminists | 16/01/22 05:35 AM
| -2 | Anti-Feminism?I’m a feminist, but my beliefs don’t align with the feminists you’ve described above. I don’t think men organized our society to harm women. Inequalities women face are 90% simply because women weren’t in the room when decisions were being made. | /r/AntiFeminists | 16/01/22 05:34 AM |

Anti-Feminism?I completely agree that fathers deserve more protection from the courts. I feel so sad for anyone denied their child, because of a rigged system. I’m a feminist, and a housewife, and I have also felt like I needed to defend my choice to be a stay-at-home mom. I really do want women and men to be equal. I also want things to be equitable. | /r/AntiFeminists | 16/01/22 05:11 AM
| -4 | Anti-Feminism?You make a fantastic point about how a larger man could be assaulted by a smaller woman. It’s harmful to assume otherwise; no one should be victim blamed or made to feel shame about their own assault. A victim is a victim regardless of gender. As a feminist, I love and actually find my husbands instinct to protect and provide for our family very attractive. It’s one of the reasons I married him. I’m a feminist because just as any man should have the right to protect and provide for his family, s… | /r/AntiFeminists | 16/01/22 04:57 AM |
