What the fuck is going on in this case. They are reporting this so incomprehensibly More updates http://www.cbc.ca/m/news/topstories/eoannou-lawyer-for-kane-accuser-quits-case-1.3243617

I think it might have partially to do with the fact that so much of the information about this case is being provided in such a hidden manner. I read two articles about this and I'm still super confused about what's going on. What I can't decipher if the fact that it seems to be an allegation where they re trying him to some degree in the court of public opinion and expecting his employer to punish him. All the while any information about the accuser is being hidden or obfuscated in reports.

Note how his name is being dragged in the mud and AP has a policy of hiding the accusers name.

Thank you. It was a great view. It presented issues faced by men in the most neutral way while avoiding any hint of anything that could be misconstrued as a fear of women hating.

If the patriarchy existed, Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists could have had a field day with a random person using the world "Engineer" to describe themselves when they aren't. Its a pretty big deal to most Engineering Jurisdictional bodies that some random person doesn't claim to be an engineer and make some shitty bridge or something.

Upon reading this site, I kind of chuckle that you basically have to sign a pre-nuptial agreement pre-moving in together. http://www.bcfamilylaw.ca/family-agreements/cohabitation-agreement/

From my reading of the things, it seems assets before (either the relationship or cohabitation) starts are safe. On the other hand, if you're making mortgage payments and she's not, she's still entitled to that portion of your home if she breaks up after common law status. I do know you need to go to a lawyer and sign some documents that you're not interested in getting married automatically. That's the extend of my knowledge.

Wait what? I don't follow. Here in BC (and I imagine everywhere) when you get married, you are now considered one financial unit. You share both assets AND debts after marriage (not including assets/debts incurred before the marriage).

Its funny that I was at Sears this weekend, and noticed all the Father's day crap going on, and this thought occurred to me. This may be slightly unfair, and perhaps biased, and anecdotal, but I couldn't help but realize after mother's day, the question is usually "What did you do for your mom?" but for father's day is "What did you get your dad?" this may be super negative way of looking at it, but it seems the only interest in celebrating father's day is as far as being able to sell something …

I don't want to mention my background as its blurry/doesn't-fit-in-onebox, anyways, but after reading materials like Warren Farrell, I realize religions (including Islam) are a system that are misandrist where they are ultimately interested in the preservation of women due to women's critical role in reproduce if a calamity were to strike. They ultimately value men only as far as men's ability to propagate the tribe. They have that archaic view where humanity/the-tribe is only one calamity away …

That was beyond awkward. (I'm guessing I feel that way from imagining how I'd feel if I were in Anderson Cooper's shoes). I'm mostly embarrassed for Kathy Griffin. I think of the shoe was on the other foot (a man doing it to a woman), it would be laughed off just like this granted it was done once in an attempt of humour. But I think her going on and on and on, she clearly crossed that line from a poorly received joke, to what would have caused some media outrage had been it a man doing it to a …

You raise your points in an interesting way, I had never thought of. How men are fulfilling the duty that society has placed on them (rightfully or not) , yet women aren't (rightfully or not). I had only seen it from the men's perspective about this duty (and not the part about women not doing their duty), as Warren Farrell talks about this I think in his lecture in U of Toronto, how basically men are expected to take up the duty to protect and proliferate the tribe, for the well being of the tr…

I guess that's one of the inherent cons of living in a democracy. The collective will fund things you may not agree with. Its great to disagree (i presonally don't think I should be funding a lot of things) but you have to acknowledge money is spent ( sometimes a lot of money ) on items others disagree with, but you may want. (military, etc.) I'd personally rather not pay for it, but the bright side of it is that we're actually paying less than if these people actually carried their pregnancies.…

The sense of entitlement is almost absurd. When its convenient to not want sex, how dare you. (Correctly so.) When its convenient that they've gone throw their share of 'assholes', and 'newly desirable' guys aren't willing to commit, how dare you. I put the term 'asshole' in quotes, as women are grown-ups (equal to men, right?). They WANT to and are CHOOSING to be with these 'assholes'.)

I honestly think we'd end up doing a lot of damage to our (very reasonable/rational) cause. By being unreasonable and focusing on stuff in a retarded manner like SRS, it will make the job of detractors to so easily dismiss all MR as these psychopaths by putting everyone in the same bucket. Also, it might actually bring out genuine misogynists and give them a platform. I don't honestly know much about SRS, but I know mainstream reddit things they're a joke cuz of their bitching and moaning. So in…

Unfortunately you're bordering on what I consider to be hateful towards women (especially the unnecessary sluts and whores references which doesn't add to the conversation besides serve as purely insults). If you are more articulate about the fact that MOST women are like this today, thanks to a sense of entitlement they've grown up with/ever presence of feminism, that's another matter. But as it stands, you are IMO being over zealous.

Yes. I also think about how finding a girl who is rational and actually open-minded (to the point that presenting of evidence makes her change her world view) is hard. I'm currently reading "The Myth of Male Power". His first chapter was great, but to be honest the second chapter seems fairly incoherent in the sense that its a bunch of short points. You did, however, attribute some very ridiculous and sensationalized claims to a movement dedicated to promoting women's equality. I'd consider that an attack, however indirect, against women. You've just proven my point. The mix-up of any criticism of the IDEOLOGY of feminism, to be taken as an attack on WOMEN. QED. Also, double QED on the your point in original post about MRA proclaiming ourselves to be victims of attack. Pot calling the kettle black much?

What you just said, right there, was attacking women. When asked when/where. I can't go on a lengthy diatribe about how you've attacked women, because I haven't spent much time talking to you. Yeah, but feminists don't do those things. There's this seemingly no-true-scottsfeminist type business going on. Despite all this stuff by self-proclaimed feminists, none of them represent the true feminism. What you just said, right there, was attacking women. You're delegitimizing feminism. Am I the only one not in outrage over one thing or another? I see nothing wrong going on here. If they want to paddle the kid in school, so be it. In fact the school's nice enough to let you opt out. You are correctly; however, (albeit i'm pulling this out of my ass) I think it is more likely when a woman encounters a man initiating something, that the man will be the type that's interested in a casual-encounter. As long as people are at least exposed to the fact there are some areas where men aren't being treated fairly. Next time they hear something about men's rights (especially if the messenger doesn't happen to be a female like you), they won't automatically assume that this movement is misogynistic, trying to hold women back, or somehow believes that men's and women's rights are a zero sum game. I think the hating on marriage is from the fact that its very likely to end in divorce (something like 50-51%). And even in the case where marriage doesn't end, it is believed by many men to be overall biased against men. Trying to be open minded when you make that claim. I'd as for a source. Also, if the tripling of figures was due to immigrants, it would be ridiculous to not have stated so in the article. This is where rape comes in. What if a buyer decides to just steal the goods and services? ... That would be taking services without paying and we call this ‘theft’, except when it’s done to women then we give it a special name: rape. Which is essentially theft plus assault. Now I’m totally against rape, ... , I think rape against men is also theft and assault, but because men can’t have babies, I suspect many people only see the assault part, if it’s violent, and not the theft part when it’s no…

I think she's in fact arguing against the very case she's making, which is that women are systemically discriminated against. Undeniably women are in fact discriminated in some form or another, but we suspect most of the symptoms people point to are ultimately from the inherent behaviour of most women that isn't rewarded in the real-world/nature. If there is this 'discrimination', its not targeted against women as much as it against people who aren't agressive, willing to ask for things, etc. al…

Hard as Ms Rosin tries to argue that the world has embraced “matriarchy”, however, the data does not support her thesis. Isn't there an equivalent of: rape and rape jokes... i'll leave for later men being treated terribly.. men being criticized for being fat, stupid, bitches, assholes, losers.. sluts I'll leave for later discussion As for rape and rape jokes. rapists are held accountable by law. Its not systemic when the justice system doles out punishment for rape. given…

I can't help but think by the most upvoted definition (which I find is fortunately gender neutral in accepting that men are also victims of this 'rape culture'), that we also live in a 'rob culture' ('man I got robbed', 'you shouldn't have been walking down that dark alley with you iphone'), a 'murder culture' ('I killed it at my audition', 'you shouldn't be hanging out with weirdos'), and a various of other cultures.

Am I the only one who hasn't seen the false dichotomy. (for a lack of a better word). how it can be unfair if a male, chooses not to use a condom and the female gets pregnant vs (I've switched my order to make the point) Condoms can fail, people can claim sterility, birth control can fail or not be taken too, and there is no 100% promise. If the male has sex with the girl, pregnancy is ALWAYS a risk, and if he doesn't want a child, it is irresponsible to put the responsibility of birth control o…

Am I incorrect in thinking that in the context he's not equating someone in favour of an abortion, to be a nazi. He's just saying Nazis would kill a child in retribution for the crimes of the parents. (Although I've personally never learned of such a practice)

I did not know specifically about these musicians. But even so, its fairly easy to realize that men and women had far different roles (which can definitely be considered unfair if men and women are held to the ideal that they're equal in every way). *Edit: clarified what I meant in my bracket.

I understand your point about how she would be a 'false' woman's hero. I just fear a female may take this as us wanting to belittle the contribution that women did make in the war (which included working in munitions factories). I totally understand your point. For some reason I just have an urge to try to clarify that our main message is of bringing justice to cases where men's rights are being infringed up.

I think this is an interesting random fact to know about the world/history. But we should clear that there's nothing wrong with her choosing to quit her factory job after two weeks. We should be upfront that some women can be physically stronger than some men. She just didn't happen to be one. And women should have the freedom to leave a job they feel is unsafe, just as any man should. (Without making this partisan, I suspect of those that feel like they're stuck in an unsafe-job, a larger porti…

That is an interesting point. In this case they do mention it in the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYb5xSd4PRs&t=1m25s

I think this video is a great candidate to be on /r/videos. Its from a reputable source, and highlights how some men do get taken advantage of. It does a great job of also highlighting the risk of sexual assault of this male. I can't imagine any rational female not accepting this as an injustice.

I agree with notcaptainkirk somewhat. Its the harsh reality. I'd recommend to try to stay to mainstream sources of news (CBC, BBC, CNN, MSNBC, etc.) or mainstream sources of policy (government website, etc.). (And I know, they often overlook when men are being treated unfairly). If we don't, then its the original submitter's responsibility to ensure the article is well written and doesn't come off as either misogynistic or paranoid (we can all agree none of which is a good thing). Maybe submit t…

I had been thinking about this topic. I think cock is the equivalent, but it certaintly isn't the C word. Nor is it the "word that 'trumps' all words", "the word that shouldn't be said ever".

This is proof that women commit violence against women. It isn't a wild notion to suggest that women like these can commit domestic violence against men. And with men being victims, we need services to assist men equally as well as when the victims of violence are women. Let me know if me stating the obvious (in case an rational-open-minded-female-not-exposed-to-mens-rights read this) is unnecessary.

I was going to quote this line from the OP as well. Just to be clear, I hope the OP realizes, these guys who spurned OP to the curb were not friendzoned. They simply aren't interested in being friends with you, they're interested in more. The friend-zoned person would continue to stay in your friend-zone hoping more comes. So to answer the OP's question: A girl can openly show/state genuine interest/friendliness towards a male anyway she wants. As long as they also openly state their lack of sex…

I think its fair to say its different. And it might even make you more comfortable. But that isn't to say it is right. Its easy to notice how its wrong if we did the word switch game where it was blacks instead of men. Basically same pint that Factory2 made.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
