And would you be opposed to any kind of penalty for men who receive government aid through college but who later choose to stay at home with their children? I meant that people need to be educated to understand that there are lazy women and hardworking women just like there are lazy men and hardworking men etc. etc. and that people should be regarded as individuals and not judged based on what gender they happen to be. The statement, as I read it, showed a disregard for all women. Maybe women's rights isn't what I meant, how about "Statements like that are the only reason I can see that there still needs to be education in gender equality". By 'some benefit' I meant something along the line of rising higher and faster in your field. I just meant that I think society's views need adjusting so that is seen as 'normal' to take time off to care for children (for both men and women) rather than an exception which shows you don't value your career. I'd also like to point out that I am not a feminist and I don't believe there's any need for such a thing, people should campaign for equal rights for all people regardless or gender. This shouldn't be a feminist issue though no doubt they shout the loudest. Men should receive exactly the same allowances after having a child as women do (minus any medically necessary ones). I'm slightly torn on this, on one hand if you want to discourage anyone from having children it isn't the people most likely to have successful careers. Fair enough, a woman who quits working to have a kid because of all those things - she's a lazy fuck. Men are capable of wanting kids too though.
