3) Read as much as you can. This isn't a bad one (goes along with learning every day) but you don't necessarily need to read books. There are smart people on the internet as well. The most intelligent, well written, most beneficial stuff you'll ever read will be found in books. That's not to say that worthwhile stuff can't be found on the internet, but the right book (for the appropriate subject matter) will always take it to the next level.
