I am REALLY bad at gift ideas so I was wondering if you ladies could help me with this. My wonderful SO of about a year is meeting my family next month and he asked me if he should bring a gift or anything for my parents, and if I had any specific ideas. I think it would be a sweet gesture but I'm having a hard time thinking of suggestions. Any thoughts?

I like to put a short podcast or some music on and do a quick tidy up of the kitchen and bedroom. I think the nightly routine keeps anything from getting to messy and I like waking up to a clean space. After that I prep breakfast (I usually do overnight oats) and set out my clothes for the following day. Next I brush, floss, and do my skincare routine. Depending on how tired I am I'll read for a little bit or just go to straight to bed.

Thanks for reminding me to be patient ladies :) He followed through this morning, I don't know what I did to deserve a guy like him!

Thank you for your advice! I think I will just wait and let it go if he doesn't bring it up, I honestly feel a little weird accepting money from him in the first place. As far as needing shoes goes, I do usually lift in vans but I have some ankle mobility issues so I've been squatting with plates under my heels at the recommendation of a trainer at my gym, but he also suggested lifting shoes might help.

Hi! I mostly lurk in the shadows, but I started reading RPW just a few months before I met my current SO and it's definitely been a huge positive influence on our relationship. We're doing long distance until June while I'm studying abroad. I'm 20, he's 26 and he's so wonderful it defies description. We both love science, bad puns, and the outdoors. I also like weaving, yoga, cooking/baking, reading, and I'm starting to get really into weightlifting.

You can start out by using an online calculator to determine your BMI, which you can use to see whether or not you're medically considered overweight. If your BMI puts you in the normal weight range, you can still benefit from a good diet and exercise. You may be a normal healthy weight, but still look flabby. Diet is the key to lowering your body fat, but the amount of muscle you have also plays a huge role in your overall appearance. Is it a general rule of thumb that if you think you're chubb…

I think it's preferable to wait for him to initiate contact because it makes it a lot easier to be confident in his intentions and take some of the guesswork/hamstering out. If he doesn't follow up, there's a good chance he's feeling lukewarm about it. Like other people in this thread have mentioned, there's a lot of variables and "what ifs" out there, but I think it's a good rule of thumb. When I first started dating my current SO, waiting for him to initiate contact was more for my own peace o…

I met my current SO through online dating amidst a string of very bad dates. I was disheartened and about ready to give up, then I met him for ice cream and we just clicked right away. We've been together around 8 months now and I'm so thankful that I went on that date instead of cancelling and staying home like I wanted to do at the time. I'm not sure I have anything to add to the practical advice that's already in the thread, but just know that maybe your next date will be the right one :)

Don't try to be friends. Spending time around him and trying to cultivate a friendship will be messy and painful for both of you. Cut contact, take a deep breath, and focus on yourself.

What do you do to make yourself happy? Do you have hobbies? Maybe instead of stressing about seeing him, you could focus on yourself a little more. If you don't have any, try picking up a new one! There are quite a few threads about hobbies on this sub if you're in need of ideas. Focusing on making yourself happy is one of the best things you can do for your relationship. This line caught my attention as well I know that if I don't ask him to hang out or if I can come over I'll never see him bec…

My favorite has always been gingersnaps. I use the recipe from an old good housekeeping cookbook, they're soft and chewy and absolutely divine. Here's the recipe: 1/2 cup Sugar plus additional for rolling 2 1/4 cup All-purpose flour 3/4 cup Salad oil 1/4 cup Dark molasses 1/4 cup Maple syrup 2 teaspoon Baking soda 1 teaspoon Ground ginger 1/2 teaspoon Ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon Ground cardamom 1/4 teaspoon Salt 1 large Egg Into large bowl, measure 1/2 cup sugar and remaining ingredients. With …

Hi! I don't even remember how I found RPW, but I've been reading for over a year now. I've been with my current SO for about five months now and things are going wonderfully! I'm only 20 and this is my first serious relationship. I really appreciate all the perspective that RPW has to offer and I think it has definitely helped me build a strong relationship with my partner.

I started reading RPW shortly before I began dating my SO, and I'm really happy with how it has helped me change my perspective. My SO is working on an important project this week and next and it's keeping him really busy. I've mostly let him have his space to work, but we spent some quality time together over the weekend. I'm proud of myself for appreciating the amount of time he took out of his busy schedule to see me instead of being bothered by the fact that I didn't get to see him as much a…

I really love weaving! I took a class over the summer and it's become one of my favorite hobbies. I also practice yoga 3-5x a week and I'm trying to learn to cook as well.
