I agree OLD can be a LVM cesspit, but I don’t think all OLD platforms are equal, and there are ways to minimise the chances of meeting LVM through them. For example, favouring apps like Hinge over Tinder, avoiding men with too many selfies or gym pics, being generally ruthless with screening (using apps that include info on height, education, job, whether someone has kids etc), and ensuring someone is consistent and appropriate in their communication before meeting etc. Personally I have Hinge o…

I think a lot of pickme behaviour in adulthood stems from childhood trauma or abuse- e.g. having absent or emotionally dysfunctional fathers. It’s not such an easy distinction between abuse victim vs. pickme.

So true, thanks! I play bass/write my own music and have hung around artists/musicians for years, until I made the mistake of being persuaded to join a LVM’s band last year. He spent 6 months intensely pursuing me (initially whilst still with his gf), I eventually (stupidly) went along with it. Not long after we got together he seemed to lose interest, despite saying he wanted us to be together for years etc blah blah, so I ended things with him. Urgh yes. I remember watching it when I was much younger, and praying I wouldn’t end up a tragic single 30-something woman obsessing over men like they do 24/7. Now I’m 32, single and trying to unlearn the toxic programming from this show.. thank god for FDS!

This is SO TRUE, thanks for the reminder. Imagine if a generation of women chose to have children only with men of high value character, who went on to parent emotionally healthy, well-adjusted kids.. a whole new generation of HVM (& HVW).
