The only thing that has changed was allowing women to serve in direct-action combat arms jobs that serve tip-of-the-spear functions, and that is women who choose to enlist with that MOS (military occupational specialty). Funny how you don't mention the benefits of having the US in NATO or Japan keeping Russia / China in check and allowing for the countries there to devote significantly less of their GDP towards protecting their own borders.
