This is how I read it as well, but I was concerned I read it incorrectly since the comments were going in on the post 😅

Absolutely agree. Been doing this since my breakup last years and it’s saved me a lot of headaches. Guys can and will wait for you to be ready for PIV while you take your time vetting them. Really great post!

In the black community there is a really popular rhetoric of dating other races because they’re easy, they’re submissive, they’re the trophy, etc. but then later they end up married to the same black women they were clowning. During that time they gatekeep us from dating interracially. Another post pointed this out and I think it’s important to reiterate: Statistics show that 88% of black men are married to black women. They are trying to have one cake and eat a second one too: Cake 1 being tryi…

Loved this list! Really enjoyed reading the novel Circe and would also recommend it to anyone whose interested in reading about a mythological female character with her perspective at the forefront!

Love this!!! Normalize not letting things slowly spiral. The best advice I’ve ever heard is “if you don’t like something they do early on, walk away because it will only get worse as time passes”.

Wish I had seen this before my long distance relationship. We met in college (two semesters before we both graduated undergrad) and I moved for my masters while he started at his dream company so the reasoning behind it being long distance was sound. It was overall a depressing time. Lots of arguing because he was controlling and jealous whenever we weren’t together. All of my breaks were spent with him(he payed for all my tickets, thank god I insisted on that at least). It meant I missed out on…

I didn’t comment on the original post because it got really derailed, but I wanted to say that I was happy to see it. I joined this sub because I still want to date and interact with men. I didn’t join because I hate men and never want to interact with them. I understand that there are a lot of LVM out there, but I’m still hopeful that I will find a man who is HVM. The amount of posts that detailed how there are no HVM and we as women should stop dating was alarming. I stopped checking the sub b…

This was really lovely to read💕also at the 1+ year mark of no sex after breaking up with my ex last year. I definitely agree with what you said about breaking things off with potential suitors more quickly and taking up more hobbies💕know that there are others cheering you :). Congrats again!

100%. I’m a speech therapist at an elementary school and the number of kids I work with that have tough home lives is astounding. It feels good to be a constant in their life that listens to them. Typically at home they don’t have anyone to listen to them on top of their communication disorder. It makes me really nervous about having my own kids. I love the little boogers, but I don’t think I could handle having my own. That’s not even including the fact that I have so many goals I want to do ca…

This needs to be the first comment. We don’t care about your made up story, stop posting fake things with stereotypes in order to look “cool”. Especially when code switching is so dominant in the black community between AAVE and Standard English. We typically switch to Standard English when around other races out of necessity. So I highly doubt an older black woman would have said any of that to a random white girl while in a store.

I 100% agree. Both books are phenomenal, but there is something about “A Thousand Splendid Suns” that touches my heart more.

Wait is it possible to also be PM’ed? I want to know what the red flag was.

A guy I’ve been dating said something along the lines of “I’m really observant and I noticed that *insert off base comment about me”. I laughed in his face because all I could think is ‘I’m just now getting to know you and you really think you can read me well????’ The audacity. You’re not going to try and fit me into a mood that YOU think I should be in.

....this is great advice from your mom and its literally recommended in the handbook 🤔 You definitely should date multiple guys until one commits and potentially even further. Theres a great post from someone who did just that with her now husband. It made him more eager to pursue. She also got to vet how the man treated her when she didnt give him what he wanted right away. She was secure in her worth and it showed. Tbh youre mom sounds like a smart lady for knowing how to play the game. You mi…

I always hated how they treated him because I thought he was absolutely sweet! He is one of the nicest men Ive seen on a TV show in a lonnnggg time. The rest of the guys on P&R were trash tbh (except maybe Ben Wyatt)

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
