And the “friends” thing doesn’t make much sense, but from my perspective, I couldn’t remain friends forever. Really I see this as a new getting to know each other phase. When we first met, it was a date. But now, it’s more of a phase before potentially dating. I don’t mean to brag about anything I’ve accomplished this year. Really, it’s not all that impressive. My parents broke up for 18 months before getting back together. They were happily married until my Dad passed. I don’t want life for my ex and I to “resume” as it was. My life was a mess when we started dating, and it only went downhill. It was a bad idea to seek a relationship when I did.
