Not always. When I went through basic training they paired us up by size. Me being the second biggest guy in the platoon (6'4"/220lbs at the time), with no real fighting training other than a few classes of tae-kwon do when I was 9, got paired with the biggest, a 6'8" 230lb golden gloves boxer from Chicago. The DS got a kick out of watching me get my ass beat relentlessly.

I wouldn't even call that a conversation. I mean, I have a lot of friends that I disagree with on various socio-political issues, but at the very least they're capable of understanding topic premises and expressing their thoughts coherently. That was someone who doesn't even take the time to consider their own point of view, and how they arrived at it, let alone someone else's.

Surrounding yourself in an echo chamber isn't really a great thing to do either. It would be better to begin filtering them out for the ones who are able to offer constructive debate on the issues. NB: There isn't much of a constructive debate on this issue. If a woman is to have the right to abort a fetus, then a man should have the right to yield paternity.

I live in a very rural area, so it's the only center that serves 2.5 counties. They're working towards building a new center with private living quarters for men and women. They also make sure all of their literature is gender neutral. It might not be ideal, but they're definitely making efforts in the right direction, and making great progress with what little resources they have.

The DV crisis center for my area accepts men and women, but they do not house them together. Currently, they don't have a living quarters that is divided, so they will pay for hotel rooms for men.

It's a "Have and not need / Need and not have" kind of situation. The prospect of fighting another war that might require a draft is still very real. I'd still like to see SS done away with entirely. No one should be forced to participate in something they don't want to/don't agree with, but it's not going to happen any time soon.

al-Wahhab was a Salafi scholar, but he didn't create Salafism, and it's not the only school of Salafi thought. All Wahhabis are Salafists, but not all Salafists are Wahhabis. In general, most modern Salafists are Wahhabists.

I was in high school in the late '90s. One of our history teachers used to demonstrate his Kentucky Long-rifle for us on the football field during class. I didn't live in an isolated rural area either, this was an affluent Cincinnati suburb with a population around 40,000 at the time. "Objectification" used to mean treating someone as property, holding looks above all other qualities; i.e. the "Trophy Wife" trope. I don't approve, because I see conscription as a form of slavery This is what I think about it also. Selective Service isn't something that's been forgotten, but it's also not a discussion that's really at the forefront of civil rights at the moment. At the very least I'm hoping that this lawsuit will get enough attention to get people thinking about Selective Service, what it represents, and what it means for our society (for both males and females). the draft in the US will never be used again…

Yeah, I caught it on an early premiere last Thursday, and knowing a bit about the plot I was expecting the "propaganda" to be a little thick. There's maybe 3 or 4 distinctly "feminist" lines in the whole movie, and given the plot, they're not really out of place or unjustified. I'm a librarian also. I've worked in large university libraries, small municipal archives, and currently work at a small university. This kind of stuff is actually part of our education in grad school. We ask them to leave. If they're repeat offenders we ban them from the library. Only after then would we call the cops, it usually doesn't get that far. That's probably due to your sister being a woman. I have a female friend that I swap stories of crazies with. There's no doubt that the female online dating experience is much worse (I guess that depends on your point of view) than the male experience. In general I find the women on POF to be more uptight and unsociable than the women on OKC and Tinder.
