Yup, telling someone you like them is intimidating and only works if they already like you back. Think about it this way OP. This is the best advice. Fix yourself and you'll move on from your "dream girl". Like most not-popular boys I went through the same and in the end you realize she isn't that great after all. And hostels are great places to meet people when traveling! So I would highly recommend hostels at least for some portion of the trip
