She said it was a one time incident and she apologized. Which is the correct thing to do, but it's still weird she's so casually joking about it. Also, the "scars" were apparently some scratches from gravel, so nothing terribly serious. Still, if you did this to your girl and she got bruised by gravel, you'd probably be facing jail time.

We have so much education about how terrible rape is to women and what should be done about it etc. But nobody is talking about what rape is to men and what they can do about it. They were talking about the joke. Which was talking about women as a whole. I think you are saying the same thing - the joke shows women as unreasonable and prone to using violence to get their points across and dominate the man into submission. Which is ironically the inverse of the popular narrative and there might be some truth to it for SOME women. Nonetheless I don't see anything funny about dominating your partner like this, no matter the gender.

Something very similar to this happened to me around your age. I just told my mom immediately, I was in tears and had no idea what to do. How about all the high management positions that big companies are trying to make 50/50 or even majority women. I have heard many feminists advocate for 50/50 in all the high paying positions. I'm not sure where I stand on the politics side of this, but otherwise it seems like cherry-picking just the good stuff. And then as you said, nobody cares if 95% of workers in the dangerous jobs like construction are men.
