That's what I figured. Next time perhaps you should actually read these definitions before you claim to know what they say.

The FBI's definition of rape is quoted in the first bullet-point. UCR stands for Uniform Crime Reports, and it is an FBI program. Here is a link to the FBI web site if you don't trust me: https://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/recent-program-updates/new-rape-definition-frequently-asked-questions

I'll debunk these one at a time. 1.You are claiming that the UCR definition of rape excludes ALL men raped by women as potential victims. Here is the UCR definition of rape. "As approved, the UCR Program's definition of rape is “Penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim." How does that definition exclude ALL men raped by women as potential rape victims? 2.You are c…

That's a survey, not a law. I'm asking you to back up the claims that you're making that "Feminists lobbied for a definition that excluded 80% of male victims." Throwing around a random survey, unrelated to the definition of rape or laws is not backing up that statement. It's just off-topic ranting.

Just because you said it happened does not make it true. It's not even clear what part of the law you're referring to, that would be a start. Also, where are getting your 80% figure from? And what feminists lobbied for that provision?

I just said that feminists lobbied to include male victims in the definition of rape and provided a source. How is lobbying for males to be considered rape victims at all causing 80% of male victims to be excluded from the definition of rape? Please provide a source to back up your claims and percentages? Just because you heard these statistics and claims from men's rights activists or reddit does not make them true. None of the language in VAWA prevents male victims from getting assistance. Tha…

Source? What feminists lobbied for a definition that excludes 80% of male rape victims?

Including male victims in the new definition was one of their stated goals when they lobbied the FBI, and the FBI did in fact change their definition of rape to include males. "The FBI’s definition of rape – "the carnal knowledge of a female, forcibly and against her will" -- was written more than 80 years ago and is the basis for their Uniform Crime Report statistics on rape. That definition excludes victims of forced anal or oral sex, rape with an object, statutory rape and male rape" -Feminis…

This seems like a natural progression of a movement whose stated purpose is equality between the sexes. Once it has addressed the more glaring issues of inequality such as the right to vote, attend school, work, that it would also address aspects of patriarchy that are harmful to men as well. And there are a bunch of feminists dealing with issues that only or disproportionately affect men. For example, lobbying the FBI to include male victims in the definition of rape, lobbying for paternity lea…

I could read a million opinion pieces that say a million different things. Peer reviewed journals is a rather basic standard of evidence.

I agree that the issue is complex, hence why I'm pointing out reasons why I don't think it's as black and white as a man hitting a woman is equivalent to a woman hitting a man. It can be damaging either way, but they're hardly equal with all the other factors in play.

Size is very much a factor. As are the differences in how men and women are socialized to react to violence. And the very real realities of how much more often men kill women compared to the other way around.

Can you give examples of feminists saying that men can't be rapists? I agree on the need for gender equality, and according the definition of feminism that what it is.

This sounds terrible. But I'm not sure how this is relevant to general men's rights issues.

Capitalist governments have also killed millions. What's your point?

The site is also disproportionately male. Should females then have a right to complain about the lack of a balanced dialogue?

Statistically, aren't don't women more often qualify? This is kind of like complaining that 51% of people on television and movies aren't women. Accept in the first case, it's actually merit based.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find many academic feminists (I'm sure there are a small amount) who think that gender and race are the only privileges one can enjoy in this country.

Lack of situation awareness, such as joking about how claiming rape is a right of passage for women? One of these situations was a victimless crime, which did not name a perpetrator. The other accuses half the population, which is disproportionately raped, of making false accusations regularly. Were you aware of that situation?

If men did not statistically get in to more accidents, it would be business suicide for insurance companies to charge them more. Do you have any idea how much time they spend coming up with rates? Yet, we're supposed to believe you're being oppressed because you've seen women texting while driving? Sorry dude. But it's ridiculous to argue statistics with anecdotes.

It seems like she's grasping at straws, she gave limited anecdotal evidence for her points typically (one brief flash of news article titles without reading any of the content). There's a clear lack of facts and statistics. She also complains about students expressing their section 2 rights to free speech.

I agree that this is a great case of how gender stereotypes are harmful to both men and women, hence why feminism (by definition) is necessary.

Can you give an example of a peer reviewed journal discussing said genetic dispositions? Just because there are some situations in which they may exist does not explain gender roles in this country.

How does your size compare to her? Is it reasonable to assume that if you and her actually came to blows, that it would be an unfair fight and that you're being oversensitive?
/r/MensRights14/08/15 03:38 AM
You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
