4	In New Zealand it is illegal for single men to adopt a girl. as if only men are paedophiles ! we always hear in the media about female teachers who abuse young boys. Single men can adopt girls in NZ if a court approves it. It's in the next section. There are a number of circumstances in which this would be perfectly acceptable, like a male family friend or the child's step father being the child's most suitable living guardian. It's just a law from the 1950s that just hasn't been updated because there's never been social pressure to do so. It would only take one high profile case in the media where a reasonable adoption was denied for this to be amended.	/r/MensRights	25/08/20 12:38 PM
