You obviously have never had to deal with divorce court. It isn't a straight forward check as to who makes a bigger income that determines alimony, child support etc. If it was it would just be automated. The judge, for example, in many cases is gonna look at what they consider "the lifestyle" of the child before the divorce, if kids are involved. If it took 2 incomes to afford that lifestyle and the kid is awarded to the mother, who do you think is going to be paying?
