Hey! We're all works in progress, nobody's perfect. Don't be too hard on yourself! we've been trained to prioritize dudes our whole lives. even if you're non-conventional and independent, that brainwashing is still there. We've been brainwashed with codependent pop songs and terrible TV and romantic comedies with nice girls and thrillers with douchebag "mysterious" older dudes. Women were basically brainwashed by Western culture to view other women as competition instead of sisters. It's not goi…

Ugh, I'm sorry. That's seriously some classic insecure man-boy transference non-sense. Even when I have worked with people who are not aware of how they're coming across, stressed etc, usually I would try to phrase it in a more tactful way and from a place of care. Especially since he works in mental health, again, big time ug and eye rolls. Psych emergency wtf! I seriously doubt that you're going to be soooo intimidating to someone who's going to be working in a psych emergency environment. Dud…

I cook because he's a shit cook. Most of the time he buys his own food or will take a leftover to lunch. he takes me out and does chores. I don't do his laundry, we have separate bank accounts. We've been together for quite a while (10 years plus). Boundaries boundaries boundaries.

Always always apply for unemployment. I have a v close friend that worked HR for a very long time at a large law firm. She told me that it took more time to fill out the paperwork to decline it and that they automatically approved it. The worst thing that can happen is you get refused, then just appeal it. California EDD was actually pretty nice and easy to communicate with. If you have medical coverage now would be a good time to get treatment for depression, btw. Your doc might be able to writ…

In CA there's an online database (through Megan's law) with the identifying information, photo, and names of sex offenders. I would be surprised if there wasn't something similar in your town or province? Maybe Google "sex offenders database" for your town or province?

I think you already know how your future interactions with this dude are gonna go down. I've too have been addicted to the dick! It is only a matter of time before you get habituated to having your sexual needs fulfilled by a person you barely know, bonded sparkly feelings etc, then have your original judgments confirmed that this person is not respectful, who will say offensive things to you, lie, not respect your boundaries. Break things off asap, because if you hump this person regularly it w…

That list! Damn!!! You just dodged a bullet. I have also gone out with unrepentant assholes and dudes who say "I'm just being honest" before putting down other people or talking trash on your opinions. In the end snobs are just a different kind of bully. And it's exhausting to be around someone with a potty attitude who doesn't like talking. By your description he sounds like a handful and like you'd have to do a lot of mommying to have him be socially functional and not an alcoholic. Btw, 34 is…

Don't be too hard on yourself! You learned a lesson and got out while you were still young. 7 years is way less than 10 or 20. People change in relationships and definitely dudes will often just start coasting and taking things for granted. It sounds like you have an abundance of resources and dedication. it time to prioritize yourself and your needs. You'll have so much time now that you are not taking care of someone else. Also! I highly recommend individual therapy (with a therapist you like)…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
