I think it's very obvious they're joking.

It's just another manifestation of the "men = people, women = women" idea that feminism props up. When a man is a target of violence, even if him being a man is part of the reason for it, it isn't seen as "violence against men" - it's seen as violence against an individual, because the man is seen as an individual person. When a woman is a target of violence though, regardless of the role her gender plays in it, it's "violence against women". She isn't an individual with an individual reason for…

I very much support the circumstances in which a person commits a crime playing a large role in determining their criminal liability. What I do oppose is that when it is a man who commits a crime, the idea that they could in any way have been a victim themselves or that their full personal responsibility for what they did is in any way doubtable is completely thrown out of the window.

Perhaps I did misconstrue an uncompromising anti-masculinity for misandry in parts. However, the author seems to have a view that feminism has since its inception been begging for men to join hands with it and bring gender equality to all, and that the only impediment to this and consequently the group to be blamed for inequalities still faced by men is "antifeminist pundits". At all points, the author seems to present an antagonistic view towards the boys in question while only ever talking abo…

Other than the misandric tone with which it was explained and the classical but major fallacy of equating gender equality with feminism and antifeminism with gender inequality, I very much agree with the author's point and this was an article worth reading. It’s feminists who are really “pro-boy” and “pro-father”—who want young boys and their fathers to expand the definition of masculinity and to become fully human. The problem with this, quite simply, is that feminism by its very definition can…

The overall percentages of men to women in college is still pretty even This isn't the case, at least in the UK. Only 40% of young men go on to university while 51% of young women do the same, 27.5% more. older women might be going back to school after having kids, might have had less success in the workplace so need more training, career change in midlife - things that men seem to do in less numbers (indicating that they may be more satisfied with their jobs and their opportunities later in lif…

Do you form your entire view on every conceivable matter based only on the results from the most rigorous of scientific testing? Personal experience also plays a major role. Because of this, personal anecdotes, while unsatisfactory for forming a conclusion, are usually relevant to a discussion.

a movement to help women become equal to men in all aspects of society. But what about in the aspects where women have the privilege or advantage?

Feminism isn't an equality movement, it's a women's movement. There may be some cases where feminism has opposed inequality for being inequality, but women's interests are always the top priority. I don't mean to belittle what feminists have achieved in ending some instances of gender inequality which negatively affected women, but what can feminism do, for example, to lower the suicide rate gender gap or the homelessness gender gap? Who in the feminist movement is saying there should be governm…

What do you mean "to break up the family"? How is this breaking up the family, and why is the family something worth saving anyway?

This is the double standard. Rather than challenge it, our supposed gender equality movement (feminism) only works to prop it up.

You're absolutely right that whatever is happening in Australia isn't at all equality - it is outright discrimination against men. Unfortunately, the idea of equality of outcome has been hijacked by various self-interested anti-egalitarians who use it as a basis for supporting absurd ideas such as "positive discrimination", but all the while ignore the actual social causes of unequal outcomes. It is my belief that full equality of opportunity results in equality of outcome. The popular "equality…

Why the parents? Sue the girls. 12 is old enough to understand holding responsibility for ones actions.

It's a real shame that this guy is hoarding the domain true-equality.net, preventing it from use by someone who actually believes in equality. "What is equality? We in the men's rights movement believe in equality of opportunity, that as long as the playing field is level then the outcomes should not matter" Speak for yourself. Nobody appointed you as the spokesperson of the men's rights movement, so please don't claim to speak for what everyone who relates to the movement in some way believes i…

Correct. While "women and children" and "non-men" are synonymous, they both have different connotations and make the reader think about different things. It was this I was drawing attention to. Whereas the former makes one think women and children have merely been chosen for extra notability and protection, the latter instead spells it out that it is men who have been singled out as the one group which is less significant, and less deserving of being noted or protected. I think most people readi…

It's suggesting the converse: women shouldn't be allowed to force men to hold parental responsibility for an unwanted child, and women shouldn't be allowed to forbid men from holding parental responsibility for a wanted child.

I wonder if, if he were more feminine, your friends would just be telling their son to "man up" and stop "acting like a girl" instead. At the same time as the widest number of options are open to women, males are being simultaneously told to be masculine, not to be masculine, to be feminine, and not to be feminine.

The article in its assertion that femininity is something men should be escaping from only adds to this problem of the conflicting social pressures that surround males. Successive women's movements freed females from the confines of feminity. Today, girls and women are mostly unrestricted in this sense from the activities they can enjoy: Everything from being the one of the girliest of girls to undertaking pursuits traditionally considered the domain of men is widely accepted. Women play footbal…

a men-only zone where we chaps can escape from the relentless feminisation of modern life It's not "feminisation of modern life", it's a thinning gap between femininity and masculinity. Women's lives have been "masculinised" to a much greater degree than men's have been "feminised".

America is a very unequal, very unfair, very competitive society. Take an (initially) good idea like gender equality or ending domestic abuse and America will implement it in a way which is unequal, unfair and which needlessly pits people against each other.

So we have "Male studies" for feminists, "Men's studies" for anti-equality patriarchs, where ever is a male egalitarian to go? The thinking behind the author, that men are the default and women are something exotic or special that need special treatment outside of the mainstream system, is exactly the largest barrier to gender equality in the West.

Three women are idiots, so what? I could find three men who are idiots. Then three further women who are, and so on. I can't see the purpose of this posting besides fostering an us against them mentality among MRAs, the exact mentality that we argue against feminists having. If, however, what you wish to discuss is the gender disparity in, say, convictions for drug crimes or drug taking as a whole, I could see the relevance to MRA and would welcome it. But documenting every stupid thing a woman …

It's not human (what they did), especially females You don't expect females to do that to each other; blokes glass each other but you don't expect this from girls. I love (or hate) it when people don't even try to hide their sexism. I mean a national newspaper implying males are somehow less "human" than females? Edit: news.com.au is owned by Rupert Murdoch, never mind.

What about fathers who couldn't give a toss about genetics and see their paternal relationship to their child as coming from a social connection, not a genetic connection?

Feminine nouns being used exclusively by women, and masculine nouns typically finding gender-neutral use is a reflection on the expectations of both men and women in society. Men are expected to conform to an image of masculinity, and masculinity is really the only option for them. A man describing himself with a feminine word would call this masculinity into question, which is why that doesn't happen. Women, however, are given a choice. They can choose between feminine or masculine. A woman can…
