Yep, that's accurate. I was always more afraid of being physically hurt than anything else, and I know from watching guy friends deal with crazy shit, that there's good reason for men to protect themselves against psychological vampires (chicks who just suck the life out of you) and emotional terrorists. Both parties should be proactive in keeping themselves safe. If your experience shows you that you shouldn't offer up alternative ways of contacting you, right on, keep that up. Don't change wha…

I can see how that could be true, and it "worked" once for me, and that date didn't end very well. For me, no contact anywhere else but the site or app prior to meeting set off my "He's-either-a-creepy-murdery-rapey-dude-or-has-something-to-hide" alarm bells. Neither of those were probably true in the majority of the cases, but, as a petite woman who could very easily be overpowered, I always, always erred on the side of safety. For me, meeting someone that I only had contact with in one place, …

You could, and that could very well be a viable option. Obviously, you shouldn't do something you don't want to do just because some guide tells you to, and I can't tell you why the author of the guide makes that statement, but I can give my perspective, as a woman. When I was using dating sites, if the conversation hadn't moved from the site/app within the first 5-10 messages to something other than the site or app, whether it was Steam, text, or another messaging service, I usually felt like h…

If you don't want her to have your number, set up a Google Voice number or similar service. Free, easy to set up, you have all the control over who gets your real number, and crazies are very easily managed and dealt with.

You hit the nail on the head here. As a woman, it's my job to protect myself from unwanted things, like rape, so I take precautions. I don't spend time alone one on one with strange men (men I don't know well), I always tell someone who will be sober where I'm going when I go out at night and around when they can expect to hear from me to establish that I'm okay, I limit myself to one drink when I'm out in public- the rest of the night, it's water or something without alcohol, and I never leave …

So, honest question here. Why would you ever want to make another one, if you hate them so much? Isn't that just contributing to the problem?

Personally, if I know that he does have other options, and he's using those other options as a form of emotional blackmail, I have in the past, and will continue to, in the future if I need to, walk away. Why? Because I don't want to invest in someone who feels the need to manipulate instead of treating me like a partner. Currently, I'm in a D/s relationship as the "s" to an amazing, manly and very dominant "D", but outside of the kink of our relationship, he talks to me about the things he'd li…

Sometimes you have to be "mean" in order to do what's right. At times, you have to be okay with the fact that you'll occasionally be the "bad guy". There's a huge difference between being mean to someone in order to tear them down, break their spirit or otherwise harm them, and being "mean" by being firm and sticking to your guns when it's what's best for everyone involved.

TRP does not teach you how to overcome it, it teaches you how to manipulate and emotionally abuse someone. I fully understand TRP, I've spent way more time studying the sidebar than I care to admit, and I still think it's full of shit, and abusive at the core.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/08/14 03:42 AM

What I'm talking about here is the mentality in TRP that if a woman stops being sexual, at all, then that's the time to break out the emotional abuse and scare her into doing what you want, instead of you know, checking in with her and seeing if maybe there's a reason that she's stopped having interest. I don't think that dropping a relationship immediately because of an often temporary problem is necessarily healthy or conducive to long-term relationships, but then again, RedPillers don't seem …

Where do I ever imply that I think that women can or should do that? I agree, get out of toxic relationships.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/08/14 02:53 AM
4

I agree with all of that, however, that's not the message that TRP seems to send. It seems to send the message that she's 100% disposable and none of her feelings or thoughts matter, ever, no matter what, because she's just an item and you can find many of them to replace her when you're bored. I wish more men had your mindset.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/08/14 05:50 AM

Yeah, that's a fair assessment, and it's really unfortunate that situations like that happen, and I feel bad for both parties, honestly. It's a shitty situation for all involved at that point.

Questions for you: What about D/s relationships do you have questionable feelings about? If you're RP, do you identify as an Alpha? How do you think that's much different from being a Dominant? Most "ideal" TRP situations sound like a more vanilla attempt at a D/s relationship, honestly. Also, keep in mind that those relationships don't always have to look like they do in porn or in books like 50 Shades. There are no rules other than what you and your partner set for yourselves; but, communicati…

That's a good question, and the only answer I can give you is, we're probably not out at the bar or club on the weekends. Personally, I've never been into that scene, because it tends to be filled with the people that I want to avoid- the people only interested in one night stands and hookups. I don't think there's anything wrong with the people who want to have hookups, it's just not for me. I need to actually be interested in a person for more than that. Again, this is where talking to your partner is important. If she's unwilling to work with you, then yes, there's a problem, and you have every right to find a solution that works for you; if that's a dissolution of a relationship, that's fine, that happens. I don't think there's anything wrong with breaking it off with someone because of sexual incompatibility- I've had to do it in the past, because I wanted it more often than he did, and he wasn't willing to meet me halfway and even try to be …

Which only perpetuates RP's damned if they do, damned if they don't mentality when it comes to women. There doesn't seem to be an action that a woman can take without being met with criticism from the RP. Tell me, what actions can I take that aren't suspect? Am I forever doomed to either being a "plate" or a hamstering cunt who only broke up with a guy because I want to ride the cock carousel?

Again, if that's what they both entered into the relationship expecting, and are happy with it, I have zero issue with that. Do whatever floats your boat; but if you change your expectations midway through the relationship, I think you owe it to your partner to have a serious discussion about it- if both parties want to go in that direction, awesome, go for it. If not, I think there's an issue.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/14 10:06 PM

No healthy relationship is like that, if either partner demands things from another and issues ultimatums, there's a problem. Good partnerships focus on mutual happiness and fulfillment, not imbalance.

Wow, you are beyond delusional.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/14 09:35 PM

That's just it though, one of my problems with TRP is that it's not about mutual happiness and fulfillment, it's about the man's happiness and fulfillment and if the woman doesn't jump to meet his demands, she's discarded, like a toy that's stopped working. RedPillers aren't concerned with the feelings of their partner and instead treat her like a possession. For the women who enjoy that kind of treatment, that's great, but the problem is that they seem to think that all women need to be treated…

Imagine for a moment that you have something that you've always wanted to do, are good at, but by doing it, you open yourself up to being constantly put down, raped, and otherwise made to feel uncomfortable, and distracted from the job that you're doing, because you have to worry about being assaulted. Would you still do it? Perhaps. Perhaps not. I think you're misinterpreting my argument. It's not that women literally cannot hold these jobs, because we both know that's false, if you're qualifie…

Again, awesome for her. That isn't always the case for all of us. I don't want to really get into it, but I recently had an experience in an internship in a similar type of situation where I was belittled by coworkers, sexually assaulted and made to feel like a joke, the whole time- not taken seriously at all, even though I worked harder than the guys who were doing those things, and was overall, more skilled and competent. I'm not talking about engineering. That's not really a "high risk job", though yes, depending on the kind of engineering you're doing, it can be hard to break into the boy's club. Awesome for your sister that she's never had issues, that's not the case for all of us.

That's all fine and dandy that nowadays women can and do take these jobs, but it wasn't always like that and there is still a stigma attached to taking these jobs, and there are still outdated sexist attitudes surrounding those things- which was the point I was trying to make. When you make it a longstanding tradition to exclude a certain part of society from doing certain things, it can take a long time to come back from that, as a whole society. It's still not 100% culturally acceptable for wo…

The "disposable" man trope is actually men's own doing. When you purposely exclude women from doing high risk jobs, from participating in the military, or from being able to hold a job that supports themselves and their family (not the case anymore, but the effects of this still linger, today), you set yourself up to shoulder the burden of everything else, because well, women just aren't strong enough, competent enough or whatever other reasoning. /r/PurplePillDebate23/08/14 09:20 PM

No, I don't really believe that there is a formula that works all the time, which is what TRP would have you believe. "If you just do this, exactly in this way, then you will have all of the women you want, they'll just throw themselves at you!" That is flawed, and fantasy. I do believe that there are very basic things like confidence, being the best version of you that you can be, and basic social aptitude that add to attraction, but those things are not TRP exclusive. It's the pseudoscience an…

There is no hard and fast way to get every woman you meet to drop her pants, bend over and beg you to fuck her- if you're looking for some sort of formulaic way to behave in order to elicit that response, I'm sorry to inform you that women are people too, and as such are complicated beings who have a variety of wants, desires and interests.

I'm not making assumptions, I tried to do that scene, and didn't enjoy it because of all of those things. The "let's get wildly intoxicated and dance on tables" thing didn't appeal, yet I do like to sit down with some friends and smoke a bowl, and share a couple of beers in a more relaxed, intimate setting. I've never met anyone worthwhile during that, however, I have met a fair share of awesome, successful and famous people while doing other things, like going to boardgame meetups. If that scen…

I'm not at all sheltered from that scene, I know it well enough to know that I think it's stupid and that everyone involved is going nowhere fast. You seem to assume that I don't get invited to parties like that; I do. I just don't go. Also, I turn down every guy that wants a "hook up", because I'd rather actually have a real relationship with someone; I don't need meaningless sex, I can get plenty of good sex that's fulfilling, from one man, over and over.

I guess it depends largely on what kind of people you surround yourself with. My friends and I do not fit into the whole "we party until 3am and get wicked drunk, etc" thing. Okay, well we MIGHT party until 3am, but our parties involve boardgames and tabletop RPGs, not topless women and date rape.

What you seem to not see is that you are contradicting yourself, and there's a large amount of cognitive dissonance going on. You talk about "the other side" and then say that it's not a "versus thing", which flies in the face of using that language to begin with. It is a versus thing, or you wouldn't say "the other side". Either you need to "wake up" to the fact that it is a "versus thing" to you, or stop using language that doesn't fit with your view.

You also have to take into account that in order to participate in the conversation, you have to subscribe. I for one, abhor TRP, but am subscribed so I can engage in conversations there. I know I'm not the only one who does that. I wonder how many of the people that are subscribed to TRP are actually subscribers to their ideology.

I'm sorry, but what? I think you're conflating societal and cultural memes and things that are "expected" of women, with feminism. Furthermore, where are you even getting that idea from? The women I know, save and manage their money more responsibly then the men that I know. And yeah, the people I'm talking about are in their early 20's.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/08/14 07:52 PM

I don't see it as a versus thing, other people will use what they find works. Yes you do. the other side This alienates the concept of women, paints them as "the other", and marks them as some sort of competition that you have to beat, or they'll beat you.

Hey, you found confidence, and that's great. That is something that all people should be able to find within themselves and apply to all areas of their life. It makes for healthier, happier people. Props to you. However, having to frame it as a "game and strategy" says to me that it might not be genuine confidence, or confidence that comes from a healthy place. Also: the concept of confident men isn't anything new, and TRP isn't some enlightened group that has had a mass awakening. Biology has t…

I realize that not all of any ideology agrees 100% with one another, but there are certain things that bind you together as subscribers to the same ideology. Correct me if I'm wrong, but TRP tends to base the validity of their claims on Science, namely biology, anthropology and neuroscience (when they talk about brain chemistry). This is why, I find it a bit funny, when TRP rails against women for acting within the realm of their biological imperative, basing their reaction on ethics and moralit…

Here's where I tend to have issues with TRP. Man does something that is natural and biologically driven: He's just being a MAN, and is justified in whatever the action was, and celebrated as being a superior specimen. Woman does something that is natural and biologically driven: Shamed, called terrible names, has everything about her scrutinized and is made to be the villain. Now, from an ethical/moral standpoint, this woman's actions were flawed, but ethics and morality is not typically where I…

You're not the only one, but TRP will make you think you are. They use extreme examples, often, to drive home their point that this "happens all the time", when really, I find that a bit questionable.

Where are you getting the figure "after the age of 24" from? Women's libidos do tend to decline with age, but that's typically associated with the hormonal changes brought on by menopause, which can be managed. Most women don't go into those changes at the age of 24, so that's why I'm confused at this statement.

Also, can you please provide a source that shows this debunking? I recently took an economics class that showed that there still is one, even if it is shrinking. I am taking into consideration that not all full-time workers are built the same, and that yes, men are more likely to work overtime, just as women are more likely to opt to put her husband's career fist and be the one to stay home with the kids. First off, the "goal" of feminism that gets talked a lot about- "to abolish the patriarchy" doesn't come from a place of wanting to oppress men, or take anything away from them. It comes from a place of wanting to be treated equally, in the workplace, in education, in the home. Until women no longer have to use gender neutral names in STEM classrooms to be taken seriously by the Professor, or until wages are equal as long as education and experience are equal, I will be a feminist. This is a really good question, and I'm going to try to keep it as short as I can. If you want me to elaborate on anything, I will gladly do so. I subscribe to a sort of amalgamation of various Feminist models. There are so many different branches that all try to accomplish similar but still different things, in a variety of ways. I just wish that more people knew that. Anyone just learning about feminism vs men's rights any time recently would have terrible impression about feminism as a whole. What's wrong with having standards for yourself? If your boyfriend decided to never buy you anything or ever do anything for your birthday, you'd probably consider that as grounds for leaving. No different with men and sex. Actually no, I wouldn't. I would actually prefer it; none of my boyfriends have ever bought me anything, ever. I pay for the dates. I hate the forced birthday thing. You're right, everyone does. And you're also right, sex in and of itself isn't necessarily vulnerable or intimate- however, the kind of sex that I choose to partake in usually does put me in a position where I am vulnerable to my partner. I honestly don't see how expecting to be treated with the same respect as I treat others with is "bargaining with my pussy".
