Yes, that's a description of a male who doesn't fulfill his gender roles. Are you being derogatory towards MRAs with this comment?

I don't know if you're aware of this but... Corporations don't care about benefiting any group of people. They care about earning a profit. An employee that can do the same work for 73% of the pay is an ideal employee.

but I would and could make the argument that the existence of the current mensrights movement is defined by the denial of the struggles of women, That is correct, there is no great struggle for women in first world countries. You could try to name something women have to deal with which men don't have to deal with which isn't related to biology if you'd like. as well as the appropriation of the struggles of both men and blacks. lol. in essence - feminism exists to help women, mras exist to oppos…

I don't think people really place that much importance on TV commercials. Attitudes towards feminism are caused by its actions. And it's not about "equality for women." They already have that.

This is basically a regurgitation of how he feels the world works. Notice how he includes this idea that indie comics like his own languish in obscurity because the media refuses to report on them in lieu of male superheroes, when really those characters are just very popular and have been for decades. The originals were parts of anthologies and took off on their own. These kinds of guys absorb every bit of social justice they can as their own form of being an honorable knight.

There was no patriarchy in the past because patriarchy is not a meaningful term. There needs to be a definition for it before you can say that it is real. couldn't have a say in their sexiality, What is this supposed to mean? Do you think men had much leeway in their sexuality?

-The patriarchy-deniers are as bad as holocaust deniers. You can bring attention to matriarchal double standards without denying that patriarchy exists. Can you describe for me what the patriarchy is? Your first obstacle for making this comparison non-ridiculous is that there is no sort of doubt about what the Holocaust was and that it was real. While there is no set definition for the patriarchy, and descriptions of it differ from person to person.

They did so because it was useless for them to educate women. Education, for men, served the purpose of training them to perform their roles in society, which required extensive technical knowledge. It was unusual for women to have roles other than wife and mother, and so being educated had little utility for them. So no, it was always for financial reasons.

Women aren't encouraged to drive forklifts because it's dangerous to do so, which puts society's reproductive capability at risk. That's all a part of traditional gender roles.

We wouldn't let women fight in combat, so you can't complain that most of the deaths were men. And why do you think that is? The custody stat is pointless without seeing who requested custody, because women want custody more often. Really? Can you explain why men want kids less? More men die in industrial accidents because more men choose to take those jobs, and often deny them to women who want them. Can you explain how male workers deny these jobs to women? Is it by applying for them perhaps? …

Do you honestly believe there are no employees that get paid less for equal work? It's very rare, with the same employer at least. Businesses don't like to waste money, so if someone is being paid more, he's probably bringing more to the table. Besides, in previous generations women were inarguably and openly paid less than men for the same jobs. Do you have any evidence for this? An anecdote isn't evidence.

Um, you're missing the entire point of this, they pick MARRIED men, because if it went to court the man would have to admit he had sex with the prostitute - thus ruining his marriage. There's a reason they're not choosing single men, because they wouldn't be affected, it would be proved they didn't rape them. I think I'm pointing out how the statistic is misleading by comparing men to women in that regard. If 99.999% of combatants have been men, then it only makes sense that 99.999% of deaths belong to men. Do you see? Again, what do you think you're refuting by pointing this out? Do you think anyone is unaware that women were rarely soldiers historically? Nobody is being misled here. You don't understand why we bring up these statistics. It's to illustrate male disposability. Men are designated for …

But you also have to keep in mind that men make up a larger percentage of the military force, and until the last few years or so, also are the only ones allowed in direct combat roles. What do you think you're refuting when you point this out? That enemy combatants avoid harming women? I think the point is how men are harmed by gender roles and other societal factors.

*My apologies if some of you don't feel the truth is fitting for /r/mensrights. I thought we were grown up enough to recognise that truths are true no matter what you feel about it. "Truths," lol. You say this like women collectively got together and decided they were going to change the entire male population. Like there is some conspiracy behind it all. Nah, they just said a lot of things about themselves that aren't true. People do that all the time without being aware of it.

Take a look at positions of power, and across the board you will see men (especially white men) in the overwhelming majority of positions. This doesn't say anything besides that men hold positions of authority by itself. You aren't explaining why this is supposed to be of significance. I have my explanation for why this is true and your explanation could be a shadowy conspiracy or something else. (especially white men) In predominately white countries. Also, please explain how patriarchy affects…
/r/MensRights05/05/13 02:12 AM

Not every man is part of the patriarchy, actively making decisions for it. That's what some feminists believe. Male issues, they explain, are the result of the Patriarchy backfiring on men. And it's not victim-blaming to say so, because each "victim" really is behind his own victimization. Also, you should probably read more about our positions, as you're repeating common myths here.

That's what some people think the patriarchy is. (There is very little agreement among feminists.) It's common for other people to think that it's a literal male conspiracy.
/r/MensRights08/04/13 07:50 PM

And in virtually every other setting. It's not as if feminists think highly of men who compliment women on the street, do they? Or on the internet? Maybe they would be OK with women being complimented by their partner. I think you guys should calm down with the accusations of us "misrepresenting" feminism.
/r/MensRights06/04/13 03:01 AM

If "feminist" means someone who believes women should have rights, then we're all feminists. But we obviously aren't. Feminism is an ideology based around the doctrine of Patriarchy.
/r/MensRights05/04/13 09:34 PM

lol. Why don't you calm down and try to understand why people disagree with you? The point is to counter the idea that men have, at any point in history, existed in an elevated position in life where they faced no serious problems. I am willing to admit that I have privilege, and believe that everyone has privilege. Again, maybe you should try actually discussing things with those vile privileged fedoras? Do you even understand the consequences of war world 2? It created a systematic underclass,…
/r/MensRights01/04/13 10:27 PM

And? The proportion of feminists who are willing to acknowledge that male rape by women exists on any significant level is very small. This feminist is merely more extreme than your average feminist, they both subscribe to the same basic assumptions.

It's embarrassing. Yes, feminism is (by and large) just a bunch of people infighting and shouting about things that don't matter... BUT, it wasn't always that way. Originally, at the beginning, feminism was a well-organised force for good (surely no one here can argue against that) Actually, I can argue against that. I don't think you really know why we have problems with feminists.
/r/MensRights01/04/13 05:45 AM

Women are depicted as being worthy of protection by default, without having to take any action to establish their value. Oh the misogyny. Maybe you should take a look at both sides of the story, here?
/r/MensRights31/03/13 10:07 PM

Really? That's the only reason why men are cannon fodder? Does that hold true in real life, too?
/r/MensRights31/03/13 08:43 PM

People would be pro-life if men were capable of pregnancy, or if artificial wombs are invented in the future and reproduction isn't dependent on any sex. It's not a women's issue.

No, this is how MRAs try and make feminists' arguments for them before they even get a chance to respond, a.k.a strawmen. /r/MensRights09/03/13 11:01 PM

Again, you're not disagreeing! No one is claiming that feminists don't acknowledge that, for example, race adds additional dimensions of oppression. Just that no oppression comes from being a man, and that there is no such thing as female privilege.

To which GWW simply suggests that I_love_bees is insincere in trying to consider theories that take into account complex social overlays (social overlays, that I would point out, shows how men can, and are, oppressed in society). Yes, but not because they are men, which is the point. All male oppression comes from sources other than being male, according to feminist thought. Is that the position held by Men's Rights? The "crazier, militant feminists" are merely more ridiculous and extreme than moderate feminists, they both share the same basic assumptions. I disagree with those assumptions. The subtext of this feminist argument is that the idea that 83% of fathers don't care about their kids is a reasonable thing to believe.
/r/MensRights06/03/13 02:13 AM
2

That's the classic feminist answer. In order to believe this, you have to believe men care less about their kids and their right to their wealth and property than misogyny. Or, you can believe that the Patriarchy doesn't arise out of conscious intent, but then there's the question of where the resistance towards father's rights comes from.
/r/MensRights05/03/13 06:51 AM

If somebody says they don't want sex, that means they don't want sex. A significant proportion of people have said "no" during sex while they mean yes. I don't have the study on hand for the exact percentage. So no, that's not true.

The issues with this bill are more subtle than that it states men shouldn't receive protections. Although the name is pretty glaring. Would a feminist ever accept the reverse?

Feminism first brought up the problem of sexual objectification because of the huge problem of domestic violence. The way women were seen, as objects without agency was theorized as playing a huge part in why so many men thought it was okay to be violent against women, against their spouses, and so on. Women commit domestic violence just as often as men. So, y'know, you can lay that theory to rest. So, these role models, shown as strong, and powerful, aren't having a negative effect on boys or m…

I think a lot of feminists want to believe that all their issues are caused by men. They don't want to believe their problems won't go away when they smash the Patriarchy. Consider all the normal, everyday grievances which feminists cite for why they need feminism, such as not being taken seriously.
/r/MensRights28/02/13 06:39 AM

I'm going to quote my other comment: The usual feminist response is to talk about how great those depictions of men are, which completely misses the point. It's very difficult to live up to that standard. Maybe men want to be like them, but how hard is it to accomplish that?
/r/MensRights28/02/13 06:01 AM

Which do you think feminists protest? Men being the main characters, or men being the cannon fodder? Trying to claim that women are only not killed in equal amounts because there isn't enough female representation in video games is pretty weak. I can't think a work of fiction where women are disposable in equal numbers, including what I've seen of the ones you named.

Patriarchy theory is definitely a very curious belief. I've been thinking. If men did not create the patriarchy, why, exactly, would a system of male domination arise? I mean, if you do not believe gender roles both help and hurt each gender fairly equally. Why would society fall into place so that only men are privileged, only women are oppressed, and the goal of masculinity is to exert their power over women? What she's talking about sounds more like the enforcement of gender roles than her definition of Patriarchy to me.

Is it because men are expected to pay for women's meals and open doors for them? I think you should try a bit harder.

Women don't have a lust for power, they have a lust for equality. Are you serious?

Feminism is supposed to be compatible with men's rights since they are BOTH asking for equality. If that's true, why does every feminist community hurl abuse at anyone who brings up men's rights, no matter how politely they present it?

That men, as a group, intended to create a system of oppression is exactly what many feminists believe. If you take issue with the idea that men designed the patriarchy, perhaps you should talk to them about it?

Considering how much in denial some feminists are that misandry even exists, this is a pretty good thing. I already saw a tumblr feminist post about it.

One feminist whose statistics feminists use and was paid £3 million to produce. It's very silly to present this as the work of one lone nut. Though I'd also like to see the study.

We do. The typical responses are along the lines of "neckbeard," "mansplaining," "biotruths," "your white male privilege," etc.

Unless somebody is tied to something we can't blame them for it without DIRECT EVIDENCE. MRAs discuss the evidence all the time. Do you spend much time on our sites? Their refusal to acknowledge the reality of men's issues, for example, perpetuates notions that women have problems and men don't. My problem is that we blame everything on modern feminism No, we don't. Feminism is just one factor among various others.

A distinction needs to be made, though. People that hate men are not feminists, there is simply no way they could be. Such a thing does not fall under the definition of feminism. You're excluding many people who call themselves feminists, then.

A real feminist would be AGAINST things like men getting shafted over custody in court, or men being falsely accused of rape and being put in jail, because these things are not examples of men and women sharing equal rights and representation. Many feminists aren't real feminists, then. The most your average feminist will say about custody battles is that they're the result of misogyny. Some will assert that it's due to men being more abusive. Hardly any feminists will admit that false rape accu…

I like reading these articles to see what ridiculous things they come up with. The sites seek to empower men and fulfill their “proper roles” in society as "Alphas" to manage women who are supposedly evolutionarily pre-disposed to be dominated by men (most talk of "alpha" and “beta”-males originated from these sites). lol MRAs often favor policies as regressive as re-legalizing martial rape, preventing women from going into higher education, and with some going so far as to want to abolish femal…

SRSers/feminists are barely capable of responding to the arguments of the "other side." Considering that we can provide arguments against their reasoning, I doubt we're as bad.
