Not sure how best to answer this one.... 50/50 custody of my 2 children. 19yr marriage. No alimony. She's supposed to be paying me $600/mo. But since she's not I have to cover the deficit. So am I paying or is she?

SW Missouri huh? Does JRC ring a bell with you? Pretty sure I'm farther along than most men in this sub. Now days I'm seeing a bit of karmic retribution in my ex. Definable a weird thing to process. Needless to say, similar story. She cheated. It was all my fault. No accountability etc.

Typical abusive manipulation. Step one, separate you from your support network (i.e. friends and family) Step 2, devalue you (no one in this world will love you like I do!) Step 3, degrade you till nothing you do is right. Step 4, put you in a financial position you can not see a reasonable escape from so you become dependent. (Her choosing not to work has manipulated him into being sole provider and scared of the financial consequences of leaving.) Typically see this with men abusing women, but…

I can refute that claim...

And to clarify, where I am located child support is based only on physical custody and income. That is it. There are offsets for things like health insurance. But my ex is in the medical field and has always had good insurance. So we have always double covered the kids under both her insurance and mine to minimize out of pocket costs. One of the few smart moves we made honestly.

Don't misunderstand, I was VERY lucky. I had some ammo in my pocket that I would have used if I needed to, but fortunately I got what I wanted and didn't need to. Primary legal means I have primary legal responsibility for them. Yes, I'm still supposed to consult on religion, schools etc. But my address is the one the school uses. My address is the one in their medical records. I hold birth certificates and SS cards etc. That is what I mean by primary legal custody. I share physical custody 50/5…

I seem to be an exception to all the stories I read on here. Don't misunderstand she screwed me up hard core. But I had no lawyer. And I got: The house. 50/50. Primary legal custody. Child support. All of my retirement. None of her debt. She has threatened numerous times to take me back to court. She still tries to mess with me mentally, but I'm getting stronger all the time. Boundaries and minimal communication are my keys at this point.

If the mortgage in your name alone, the hard part is done. At this point you only need a quit claim deed to remover from the title. Theoretically this could be part of the divorce paperwork. Would be a good idea to ask your lawyer.

Seems pretty typical to me as well. Narcissist XW here as well. She actually had the gall to send me a card and present for fathers day. Lovely message inside about wanting to be friends and forgiveness etc. Seriously? And to top that off she took the kids from me on fathers day too. But of course she's never done anything wrong.

The impression I got was abandonment of equity. Not buying out. I can't afford to buy her out. She said "I want to give you the house."

Moved my Ex out Dec 13th. I've got primary custody on my girls so I'm making this valentine's ALL about them. Chocolates, flowers dinner the whole deal. Honestly they are my saviors this year because I'm not sure how I would manage otherwise.

Well, she does have a stable job. Makes more than me actually. She's currently in an apartment but already looking to upgrade etc. So it's not like she's completely deadbeat etc.

I appreciate the reading suggestions. Classic literature would not have been my first instinct for self help books! But then again, it's been quite a while since I've had any classic literature in my life. I should probably bring that back. My plan with my daughters is to just do my best to show them what a good man is so they know what to look for in a relationship as they mature. That is the best I can do. Try my best to insulate them from her ways so that maybe they have a chance at a healthy…

Thank you for the reminder on my kids. They are what is holding me together through all this right now. Just trying to focus on activities with them and good quality time. My challenge though is how do you enforce morality? Especially when she doesn't respect me already? Granted, I was a doormat for years and I know that now, but the question remains. Thanks again.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
