I'm sure that was prolonged by the fact that she and I lived close to each other, saw each other frequently, and had a few slips here and there [slips, in this case, meaning that I almost allowed myself to think that we could reconcile... we never could/did ]. She actually only ever lived in my mind, but I've still mourned her loss. What was left was someone completely different, that didn't love me nearly as much as I deserved. You have to come to terms with things in your own mind, and like I said, it's still really fresh. It's going to take some time, and a lot of hard work. Consider getting in to therapy if you can.
