To me, admiration is tied into appreciation. There are certain skills my partner has that sure I could theoretically learn but they don’t interest me enough or are out not in my capacity to learn. When he uses these skills or they come up in our life, I make sure to express appreciation for how his particular skill set is relevant for that moment. For example, I could mow our lawn but it is a chore he prefers doing so I make sure to thank him and gush over him. Yes, it is a basic household skill…

Oopsie: I recently took over directing my church’s choir and we have had a LOT of special occasions pop up requiring new music books, musical arrangements and political maneuvering... Let’s just say I have not been paying enough attention to myself care routine. I had a standard screening breast MRI trigger a panic attack on Monday that coupled with poorly handled stress and a golden retriever that cannot make up his mind whether he is dying, resulted in some of the worst communication to date w…

I do not know if nursing will be a passion. As said above, this "career" change feels like a necessity because my initial bachelor's has been useless. I recognize there are a number of different ways to become a nurse. With a pre-exisiting bachelor's degree and pre-reqs due to expire soon, this program in particular gets me practicing fastest. A community college is a theoretical option but would still need to take out loans and will take about twice as long with a pay cut and reduced job option…

And this really is where an effective decade age gap comes into play. In the past when talking about theoretical timelines he has always said he wanted to work his post-military civilian job for 6-8 months prior to either getting engaged and then however long it would take to plan a wedding (6~8 months depending). Which ultimately lines up with the above- married by 27/28 and 37/38 and trying by 40. Even if we broke up today, he's expressed this timeline as being his ideal situation in order.

Overall, I struggle with planning long term. I grew up in a military household so I find that I have the ability to think out about 5 years max, unfortunately. All those reasons are why nursing popped up as an option. Having something that is mine part-time that could eventually fund fun stuff or a fall back if things do not work out in general.

I would not either. Thats in part the issue, I completely understand that view point but it does not feel like I really have any other option. Unfortunately, yes my degree is effectively useless; especially since COVID. While my degree is in STEM, I do not have enough lab experience to do entry level stuff and have not figured out how to go the consulting route.

Some more relevant context. He's divorced with some baggage associated with the ex-wife changing her mind about career vs. family. They were only married 2ish years but tried to reconsile (sp?) and they had a daughter. Ex comes from a Gilmore Girl's esque family unit and once she found out the sex of a baby, stopped returning his phone calls. He's lost a custody battle already and judge granted visitation but very much on the ex's terms. Neither the ex or daughter are currently in the picture. H…

Yoga with Adriene is also a good place to start on YouTube! Her playlists are great! A number are organized based on length of time you have that day or what you are trying to accomplish. She also has some great practices for things like PMS. Sometimes she leans a little to hard into the white female yogi trope but her overall emphasis is “finding what feels good.” Which, when you are trying to make exercise a habit, is a really great perspective to begin from.

This movie helped me got motivated to start exercising and taking better care of my self this past spring! The fact that it is based on a true story makes it all the more powerful.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
