I don't think that education should be publicly funded. Medical license laws also artificially restrict the supply of doctors. My grandfather received his medical training from the Army during WWII in a remarkably short period of time, and spend the rest of his life as a GP. There's no reason why medical training needs to be this expensive or time consuming. While I don't think that having the army train doctors is ideal, the foreshortened training period demonstrates that it's very possible to …

Giving large amounts to charity during your lifetime is generally stupid. It's more efficient and less self-glorifying to give anonymously after your death, while also providing for your descendants. An endowment that produces continual income is a lot more valuable to a charity than a cash gift. This is how actual enduring foundations perpetuate themselves: not through continuous hustling for one-off gifts. Cash gifts with your name attached before you're even elderly are just status posturing.

We want to believe that HR and hiring managers take hiring seriously. Unfortunately, the truth is that the best way to get a job is through networking, so that a friend or multiple friends can grease your way into the position. This is a massive indictment of the entire HR/recruiting field, because the responsibilities for recruitment wind up falling on people whose main job isn't recruiting. I've been surprised at how rarely hiring managers will even Google a candidate, or do much more than sca…

Do whatever. Just eat lots of protein and work out hard as fuck. The marked difference between scrawny or fat people and fit people are that the latter push hard (while minimizing injuries) and the former are lazy and sloppy. People who procrastinate on getting fit are the ones who are always searching for the perfect diet, the perfect brotein shake, the perfect lifting technique, the perfect guru, and the perfect amount of time spent doing it. While there are some general concepts that are true…

Insulting your argument, not you. Don't take it personal man, I would hope to guess you're redpilled self is better than that. Beginning the way you did breached etiquette. Would you tell a man that he was "talking out his ass" to his face? What would you expect the reaction to be? Your "rebuttals" just simply miss the point... I get it, you want to 'win' and that is fine. I'll bite, God only knows why, and go with your points as you've decided to with mine. You continue to share your opinions a…

You started by insulting me. KIDS. kids. Not adults. Not people that are older and living on their own. People HS age to college aged. And I participated in privately funded youth sporting leagues as a child also. They were cheap, too -- far, far cheaper than private school tuition, and this was even in one of the most expensive cities in the country (NYC). My teammates and competitors ranged from the poor to the ultra-wealthy. Just because you grew up, doesn't mean you don't owe the generations…

I'll ignore your snide manner for the benefit of readers, but I'll register my contempt for your tone. I disagree strongly. How exactly does the team that I'm on, which runs practices every day seven days a week, costs me less than $30/mo in dues? This is a team where dozens of people show up to three practices a day, not even in a particularly high density area. A couple ex-Olympians even participate in my team and active Olympians compete in our meets. There wouldn't be sports for anyone but k…

All these laws are terrible. Genders shouldn't be forcibly integrated. Further, these state institutions shouldn't exist. Forcibly integrating genders degrades the characteristics of all involved, results in poor outcomes for both men and women. Personally, I am not opposed on a basic level with much of the intended impact of Title IX which was to make discrimination between sexes at educational institutions incompatible with receiving federal funding. I know some hardcore RedPillers don't belie…

My little sister is also interning in finance while attending an Ivy school. I guess it's different in that our father's career was in finance. I wouldn't describe him as anything resembling a 'good mentor,' but he at least knows the territory. There are a dearth of 'good mentors' in the field because most women drop out to have children before achieving seniority if they ever enter the field at all. However, they exist. There are entire institutions within finance (like 85 Broads) that dedicate…

Certainly so. I don't think it's purposeful sabotage at all, and I think most participants earnestly think they're working to improve the lives of their patients. Sort of like the doctor problem I mentioned. Lipitor delays heart failure, but it doesn't solve the problem of pro-gluttony and pro-sloth social norms. The problems are larger than any individual doctor or even the medical profession as a whole can resolve. Much the same in 'mental health.'

The big problem with psychotherapy in general (that's been recognized by at least a few psychotherapists and others) is that the therapist provides validation, empathy, and understanding without delivering moral judgment to their patients. One major issue is that immoral behavior (granted there are multiple moral codes to pick and choose from but take it as a generality) promotes psychological dysfunction. Psychological dysfunction creates a greater need for therapists. Therapists have an incent…

Tuition at the University of Chicago is currently $15,108 per quarter. Apparently the South Asian experts at the school, which is rated as one of the most rigorous in the United States (and indeed has a reputation for tougher grading than its Ivy League peers), were unable to prepare this young woman for the poor treatment that she was going to receive in India at the hands of the common people. This is actually pretty ordinary for elite schools to do. Instead of preparing young people for the r…

There really are some women like this, who continue to watch Disney movies recreationally into their 20s. Don't make the same mistake that I did and excuse it as some kind of charming personality quirk. People are defined by how they spend their time, and if she spends her time re-watching the same movies that she did when she was a little girl, it's a sign that she's delusional. Instead of reading books, they watch the same movies over and over, exactly like toddlers do. Perhaps it's some artif…

There's also an easy way to get money like that without becoming a 'sugar baby.' It's called 'get fucking married,' but with marriage law the way it is, fewer men are willing to put their dicks in blenders for the momentary glee of some low rent chubby girl with a master's in education.

How is a public school teacher of that age worth that much money? Much younger, less complicated, and more skilled hookers are cheaper. $3,000 per month would spoil the woman. Any man making enough to afford that can buy better.

In terms of household economics, a skilled and attentive housewife creates more value than the vast majority of working women today. Nannies, cooks, drivers, maids, interior decorators, tutors, and arts teachers are all expensive. Add up all the expenses and you can get to over $100k per year, and not all of those professionals can attend to multiple children at once. A high end private school for K-12 also often costs more than $40,000 per year. A reasonably intelligent family can provide bette…

Jerry is fun, maybe, but $600k+ per year from a mid-career ibanker beats a few thrilling dates any time. A lot of that money just goes straight to the vanity and fun times of the wife. She would get paid to throw parties and look pretty, while retaining an option to seize his property and future earnings indefinitely. Might have to pop out a kid or two, but that's what nannies are for: to look after the toddlers while you go shopping (and maybe have a fling or several).

It does show the time period when the old standards of femininity were destroyed both legally and culturally. The men get off scot-free (if not scotch-free) while the women are subjected to repeated humiliation and misfortune, which is invariably attributed to their own flaws and poor choices. Their children certainly didn't, and neither did their children's children. Nelle, where did you go to school? Certainly, your television show recaps for Salon can't be paying your rent. Social networking is a band-aid to staunch bigger wounds left by the ripped American social fabric. There's no strong society to conform to anymore. People are encouraged to follow their individual feelings (and those sentiments are inculcated by collectivist educational institutions) rather than fit into a functional civilization. Officials discourage excellence, because that's a masculine value that women mostly don't care about. Because America is decivilized, people instead seek to bond with…

Awesome post. This created extreme privilege (I actually have a story about the worst client ever that I may explain in the comments regarding this) that resulted in hyperinflation of their self-worth. They wanted to act, and be treated as men in a man’s world of business but found as they kept revolving around the sun, their self-worth was beginning to unravel and their power was diminishing compared to the men they worked with, whose value only went up. This bothered them; they had played the …

A lot of these also only boomed post-2007 (when the economy became fully Bernankified, lozlzolz). Roughly when the American middle class began to be destroyed more savagely than it's been since maybe the '70s. [1] It's sort of quiet compared to how large the trend has been, but many people have had their lives annihilated during this time period. You could say that people are trying all sorts of odd behavioral patterns and hoping to find one that's adaptive, because people are (at least in terms…

Not too far from how the US started. Remember, lower class men voting made women's suffrage possible. Women just marched around and wrote some things. Men altered the laws. Also good to keep phrases like "the people" out of just about any basic legal documents setting guidelines regardless of whether it's a republic, a monarchy, or a corporate colony. Can't have people getting mushy headed on who's to be doing the governing.

Yes. In civilization. Governed by patriarchy. And the people charged with protecting such a woman would be scandalized to have her walking around the streets like that. Just like what actually happened in history, in the US, as tales of rapes and torrid seductions began to fill the yellow papers in the mid-19th century, shocking respectable society, as low class girls debauched themselves with the Casanovas, creeps, and brutes of the day. Hate civilization? I know you do! I heard that disdain le…

Be a man. Stop being such a fag. Grow a pair. You're such a girl. Man up. Every single boy growing up in the United States has heard these phrases at least once over the course of his life. They are all too common. They are also all too damaging. Most think that "toughening" boys is just a rite of passage, but a growing body of research is showing just how harmful these messages can be. I used to take something like this message to heart. What I've learned from my experience is that, in fact, al…

This is entirely sensible. A man and woman alone leads to 'it just happened' reliably. Willpower is a scarce resource that can be depleted easily. [1] A lack of willpower isn't necessarily indicative of moral weakness. It can happen to anyone. Removing opportunities for temptation is just common sense about human nature that has its backing in both modern science and old tradition. Yes. Women dominate up until they preg out, and even then they often stay around. "women in media are more dynamic because they sit down and watch hours of tvs and read grazia mags and know whats hot." They can relate to their retarded audience better than men can. This I don't dispute. The majority of Americans are subnormal, retrograde, barely sentient creatures by historical standards. If you're married, crunch will keep you at the office for too long, making wifey unhaaaaappy, which leads to lifelong slavery for that brave manned-up man. This is why I insisted on such a laborious metaphor explaining that creepiness comes not from male power but from male weakness. We are frickin' terrified here. I hesitate to write this because the modern zeitgeist insists that claims of weakness are inevitably associated with claims that the other side is oppressing you and is an evil tyrant and therefore they are bad and you are good and you should get to dictate terms to them. And so any claim of weakness is treated just as harshly as any oth…

So the propaganda that girls get in some schools to watch out for bad boys who hit them is actually going to be ineffective, because being mistreated can feel so good. A brute who beats a girl is a thrilling boyfriend, but a god-awful father. Once upon a time, this was recognized. Unable to say that the patriarchal family is an ideal, modern society attempts to persuade people to conform to social norms by appeals to emotion. "Don't suck off that bad boy: you'll be sad when he beats you!" The ap…

Politicians have very limited authority on how to actually govern. Bureaucrats who run the various regulatory agencies have far more direct authority than any elected politician. Politicians can set the overall tone of the political environment, but they otherwise do very little actual governing. Guys in the 18th century would almost certainly have just marched on Washington and burned it down. The end. No memes. Just town meetings around the country followed by unanimous agreements to burn down the city, and maybe tar and feather some of the main perpetrators. Then, they'd march, because they were already all organized into independent militias prepared to go to war. That's what the right to 'bear arms' means. Few people think in a logical manner consistently. Logic is a discipline in and of itself. It's challenging to speak and reason in a consistently logical manner. Go ahead and take this free logic course developed at Stanford. Women can often survive and thrive without thinking logically in a consistent manner. It's easier and more common for women to gain access to resources without needing to work in complex fields due to their inherent value in reproduction as judged by others. Men usually nee…

I think this is discordant from both the statistics around cohabitation and marital success along with my personal experience (latter's much less important). Marriage is so messed up from a legal standpoint that co-habbing to test the partnership doesn't really work the way you might think it does.

Maybe co-habbing is a way of testing someone in a dysfunctional anti-marriage culture. I know that's the approach I took years ago.

This is the real damage that pro-fatty social norms do. Some people are really too weak-willed to maintain their health on sheer willpower against social norms. Also, I dunno, previous generations thought co-habbing was a bad idea. There may be some reasons for that. She starts to become dysfunctional coincident with their cohabitation. There may be a connection; I dunno. Relaxing social norms about cohabitation are also doing these two no favors at all. There's no cure for this other than kicki…

If you've a grandmother, you probably have some experience of a woman who un-apologetically arranged her life around supporting her husband, rearing her children, and managing an efficient, attractive household. Their descendants were indoctrinated to believe that managing a household and rearing children were class-negative (Betty Friedan etc.). The way to climb socially was to take on a more male role in society, or to rear children in a family structure purported to exist in savage tribes (by…

~97% of startup founders are male. Sadly because so many people in the industry went to Stanford, Harvard, etc. they're pushing more and more female hiring, to the detriment of many companies. There's really no preserving what existed before in the long run when you're trying your hardest to recruit employees from a pool of people that are filtered for feminist sentiments in admissions. Do you think it's a coincidence, that the media outlet capitol of this country, New York City, is one of the only major metropolises where women outnumber men? Start with the fact that those journalism and communication programs even in a 50/50 general student body split tend to favor women traditionally, when you now take into the fact that that 50/50 ration is closer to 60/40 and rising, it quickly becomes clear those programs are becoming dominated by women even more than just colleges in gen…

Think about an old movie when the lady slaps a cad for getting too grabby. Is she actually dangerous to the guy? No. The slap is just a suggestion of the savage beating that the guy will get from her father, brothers, and her uncle, the local judge if he continues. 'No' means "my dad's upstairs, and he'll shoot your kneecaps out." Yes, psychiatric illnesses are metaphors-defined-as-diseases. In some cases it's more directly a metaphor: 'narcissistic personality disorder' likens the patient's behavior as observed by a psychiatrist to that of Narcissus in the myth. Here's an essay by Szasz (that's also a full length book by the same name) on the topic: http://psychclassics.yorku.ca/Szasz/myth.htm To establish his authority a little bit, he was one of the driving forces behind removing homosexuality from the DSM in the 1970s…

Patriarchy isn't the magical conspiracy theory between men that academic theory purports it to be. It's a social norm that places men at the head of the family unit, legally and culturally. There's always some kind of family structure. Patriarchy happens to have been the most greatest family structure in terms of producing economic, military, and artistic success. This shows how marriage can be incredibly dangerous to your kids. This kind of group-hatred that older women work up with each other about their husbands to make it easier for them to divorce/cheat etc. is almost universal within middle class and higher circles. Look at this abusive guy, complaining about his strong independent girlfriend fucking around on her European tour. How creepy of him. Doesn't he know that he's being a controlling jerk? This must be a trend. An old co-worker of mine was just telling me about how his wife went on a European trip alone to celebrate her graduation from art school. I didn't have the heart to tell him what I thought she'd been doing on her trip.

Does that promote hatred against 30something women or something in the eyes of the mods? Hilarious. I can guarantee that women can rattle of reasons as to why they date older men and not get banned. However what I had to say was apparently derogatory. You be the judge. When they talk about it, it's empowering. When you talk about it, it's group hatred. I also don't see how it's nonconstructive. Women in their late 20s and early 30s ought to know that Cosmo lied to them and that shaming tactics t…

50s era man would consider her a low woman to be pumped & dumped; not married. Basically she wants all the benefits of a confident guy without the high costs and standards that were applied to the women of the time. What, you can't even cook? What, you socialize with single men? What, you wear pants? What, you expect all the past benefits of marriage without the permanence? Or the obligations? It's like saying that she deserves a job with certain high qualifications despite possessing none of th…

Mary Wollstonecraft, probably the proto-feminist, was pretty, even until her late 30s, when she died. Judith Butler, not so much. Simone de Beauvoir, really not so much. Betty Friedan looked kind of off, even when young -- she's like what insecure Jewish girls are terrified that they look like but usually don't, with her huge schnozz. Some US sufragettes were hotties. The main proponents were old maids, though. Margaret Sanger was plain hot. The second wavers look almost universally like dogs th…

A lot of bog standard feminists who don't get through Women's Studies 101 might not get to that point in the reading. The overall direction of feminism is to socialize childcare completely, yes, but a lot of individuals haven't read the important books to understand exactly what they're arguing for. Hence why a lot of women say "my feminism is X" or write articles about "what feminism is." Because they were sleeping in class or haven't read a book besides 50 Shades in a decade, so they have only…

What happened to that girl was pretty terrible, but it's also true that you have a social system (no-patriarchy-allowed) that guarantees that girls and women will be predated on at parties like this. Dads/brothers from the 1900s or late 19th century would be contemptuous of this state of affairs in which it's actually really common for girls in the middle class / upper middle class to wind up raped or otherwise fucked in embarrassing ways at parties with monotonous regularity. I don't really con…

1 is ridiculously sensible and would be hard to argue against. It's even compatible with the current legal system. The funds would go to a neutrally-managed trust rather than one spouse or another. 2 seems a little out there to me.

"It's no mystery why this is the case. Amid our post-industrial, hi-tech economy, it takes longer to gain the personal insights and occupational skills needed to make a successful transition to adulthood. It takes time not just to develop the practical knowledge needed to negotiate a rapidly changing world but also to gain a clear sense of purpose about one's own life and about the kind of person one wishes to have as a life partner." Actually, no. It's not a "post-industrial economy." The indus…

It'd be fine if half of them weren't going to just loot the guy a few years after the marriage. It's the context that matters.

No, it's not. The point is to train you in the 'correct' way of thinking, at least in the liberal arts. It makes no sense to complain about having a men's group blocked at a university. The entire purpose of the university system is to suppress dissent and cultivate new zealots for the system. It's like starting a Satanism club at a Catholic school.

"Marriage" has a completely different legal definition today than it did less than 100 years ago. Now, it's a haphazardly enforced legal contract that entitles women to cash and prizes for dissolving it unilaterally. It's just a formal long term relationship that provides women with special rights over the income and assets of the husband. Governments are usually involved in enforcing contracts. I think marriage contracts should be much less regulated than they are now. What happens in a gay div…

There are countries where fat women are considered beautiful (Mauritania). Their parents fatten them like geese before selling them to a wealthy suitor. Changing social norms in a similar way in the US would require a massive amount of propaganda deployed over an extraordinarily long period of time. It would also need to be agreeable to the general population. My question to HuffPo would be "what kind of ads can you sell against this kind of content?" I see a multivitamin ad next to this article…
