Mini caprese salads. Cherry tomato, mozzarella cheese ball, basil leaf on a toothpick with a balsamic glaze. Crab cakes I make from scratch. Lean cuisine has these Thai chicken roll ups that are surprisingly good. A Small charcuterie- random mix of sliced meats, cheeses, fruits, nuts.

Cross country runners are skinny nerds. I’m married to a former cross country runner and my best friend’s son is a current cross county runner. Skinny nerd is accurate.

Yeah. I’m with you. Food poisoning isn’t a choice. My husband constantly belching in the car where I’m trapped with his gasses or me indiscriminately farting as I walk past him; those are choices. We have each expressed what we are and are not comfortable with when it comes to voluntary (or at least controllable) functions. Clipping/biting/picking nails is absolutely something that an adult should be able to manage.

Appetizers. He comes home super hungry but not ready to sit down and have dinner/interact/have a conversation. I make something small so he can have a few bites and then retreat and recharge before we come together for dinner.

I don’t even think of myself as someone who understands or likes marketing. I have had sales rolls and hated every minute of it. On line dating for me lasted 4 days before I met my husband. I would and do recommend it. OKC worked for me.

First husband: His parents got married after 30. That was his plan. We met when I was 19 and he was 20. By the time I was 21 and we were living together I gave an ultimatum. He caved. We wed. It lasted 9 years and 2 kids. It was a very BP relationship. Second husband: We met on a dating site. OKC. He stated in his profile that he was looking for a wife. I was only clear that I didn’t want more kids. He already had 3. We mesh perfectly. I think it’s ok to have clarity about what you are looking f…

I’m a Cheaty McCheaterson because I do have a housekeeper come every other week. We also have a robot vacuum. However, I make our bed and tidy up the bedroom every morning. I think it really helps my husband appreciate that he comes home to an orderly house - since the bedroom is the first place he goes. Even if the rest of the house is a bit messy (we have a new puppy and toys are everywhere) he can retreat to his bedroom sanctuary.

I think it’s something to keep in mind that a man making a very good income does not generally want or need a career driven woman. He is looking for a woman who will add value to his life in other ways. Homemaking, cooking, nurturing, etc. So my advice would be to develop and display those skills.

I met my husband when he was in his mid30s. I’ve seen pics of him in his earlier years and I would have been repulsed by him in his teens, and totally disinterested (though not revolted) in his 20s. He’s honestly gotten hotter since we met, as I’ve encouraged him to grow and style his hair and beard the way I like. So I will say that SOME men do age into being more attractive. Does that mean my husband is now objectively hotter than a 25yo hard body Chad? No. However he is objectively more attra…

My husband is ravenous for me when I roll out of bed. Hair everywhere. Morning breath. No make up. That said, five minutes of putting myself together leaves me much more confident. A full 30 minutes of shower, tooth brushing, and a dash of makeup and I can take on the world. I do wear an apron when cooking though. Because even if it’s a T-shirt and jeans, I don’t need to deal with grease spots on my clothes.

I couldn’t bare to go back there for days/weeks after reading one woman’s posts. She was living with a self professed MGTOW who wouldn’t marry her, wouldn’t have biological children with her, and also wouldn’t tolerate her furthering her education or career. She was licking his boots for scraps. She was obviously not happy ... and it was ok? Granted he was paying her (like a high priced call girl). I don’t know. My situation is unconventional, but my husband and I are both content. Is that not t…

Hi there! I married a doctor who I met when I was 34. He was about to turn 33 when we met. Different scenario from yours. We met on a dating site and immediately both indicated that we were interested in more than friendly chats. You mention these text conversations but you don’t clarify what you are talking about. You obviously know a little bit of his romantic background. Are you two friends on FB since you went to high school together? You must know some of the things he is interested in - ty…

Kids. Second marriage. Kids (5 of them) are all from prior marriage. Two mine. Three his. We parent differently. They are all unique pains in their own way. Runner up: drinking. I drink too much according to him. It’s really not that much. Yeah... we are not your typical RP relationship. We are fumbling our way through it. I think we are better off for the ideas here. Actually now that I’m really mulling it over, we probably fight about food when we are together twice as much as we fight about a…

This feels like a gut punch. My sister has been with a total loser for longer than I’ve known my husband. They don’t have kids together. Recently she told me that she wants to stay sober long enough to legitimately decide if she wants to stay with him. Because she hadn’t stayed sober that long in all the years she’s been with him. They probably deserve each other. But I think she’s better than him. Maybe I’m wrong.

I guess the part I’m still struggling with at this point - and I’m pretty RP - is the assumption that women don’t enjoy sex. Like... maybe I’m not ready to be serious... I just want an orgasm. Is that not okay because I have a vagina? Both of the men I ended up marrying started out as one night stands. I would have been A OK if that one night was where it ended. Just to be clear, I was super BP during marriage 1. I was super BP until 2 years in to marriage 2. I’m currently 4 years into marriage …

I get that. I was looking for 6’ and “settled” for 5’10”. I was also looking for someone older than me and “settled” for 18 months younger. At the time my man responded that the book was all about game theory and playing to your best odds. He was right.

I saw that book at a bookstore and sent a photo of it to the guy I was dating at the time. As a WTF moment. I was 35. Divorced from the man I married in my early 20s. He was “good enough” when I was young and stupid. I wish I could go back and skip that whole fiasco. Now remarried to a wonderful man. The guy I was dating at 35. We married when I was 36. The world doesn’t end in your 20s.

Our wedding was probably in the $40k range if you include the rings and the dress. We have great memories of an awesome party to celebrate our love. If you can afford it, why not? One of the ladies that attended our wedding recently got engaged and is insisting that I help her plan her wedding (I’m so happy to do it). She said our wedding was the best she’s ever attended. I think going into debt for a wedding is a bad idea. Throwing a great party that you can afford is totally fine.

Sure! One was just too young and didn’t have his life together. He was more like a rebound/pass time for me. Eventually I just moved along. It was never very serious on my end. I tried to be clear with him about that but at times he got a little carried away and made indications that he wanted to be with me long term and saw us have kids together. Nope! The main guy though... I just never fully trusted him. We were together for two years and lived together. He wanted to get married. I offered mo…

I’m 40 and my N count has literally never been a topic of discussion with my husband. So shed the idea that it’s a big deal. We’ve only been married 4 years, together 6. A man who is constantly accusing you of cheating is either ridiculously insecure or he himself is fucking other people. Period. There is no other scenario. My advice would be to move along. I feel like it’s so easy to give that advice and it’s so hard to follow that advice. That’s the world we live in on reddit though...

Let me preface by saying we have a yard guy, a pool guy, a bug guy, and a bi-weekly Housekeeper. I do not work. I handle 100% of the dishes, laundry, and cooking as well as attending to car repairs, home repairs, appointment scheduling... I also have a roll in assisting with his side gig, which doesn’t bring in much money and doesn’t take up much time. To be honest though, all of that’s a very small portion of my day. I second the idea of speaking to some attorneys. Depending on where you live/where you get divorced (if it unfortunately comes to that), the assets you bring into the marriage might be easily kept outside the realm of marital assets or community property. That’s sure to get complicated if you use a portion of the money to buy something in both your names: a house, for example. If you do go the route of a prenup, there are a few steps that can greatly reduce the likelihood of it being challenged …

Ha! My husband is also a doctor. A doctor who is repulsed by blood. I let him know about my periods because it means he will avoid sex for a few days - his choice, not mine. He also knows that I have endometriosis and my periods are unbelievably heavy. He reminds me to bring extra tampons when we leave the house. Perhaps my opinion is skewed because I live in Florida... but... NEVER!!! Ok, so even setting aside the heat, there is nothing flattering about a sweatshirt. Yoga pants - yes. Sweatpants - no. I married a hot doctor when I was 36. He’s younger than me. I would say we are both quite attractive. We both had kids from prior relationships. Still going strong 4 years later. TRP is all about generalizations. AWALT, for example. There are exceptions. Loads of them.

I was raised being told “Men are pigs. They only want one thing and they will tell you anything in order to get it.” This came from both my mother and my father. I’m sure they thought they were protecting me. I wish they hadn’t drilled that into my head. It’s been a hard road to recover from the misandry I grew up with.

I have two girls. 11 and 15. I try to tell them and demonstrate that the way I behaved for the first 35 years of my life was woefully ignorant and damaging to me and everyone around me. Specifically: Don’t marry a man you meet at 19. Wait until you know who you are. I’m encouraging a late 20s marriage. I don’t see my husband for the bulk of most days. I dress for my activities- typically shorts and tank tops because I’m either at the dog park, training the dog on the dock, or out on a boat. I would like to get into the habit of changing into feminine dresses and presenting as a submissive housewife when he gets home. Still trying to figure out where to get the clothes. What disturbs me about the way that feminism has evolved is that instead of getting the message “You can be anything “ girls are being led to believe that they can and should be everything. They should get an education, be a great employee, have a spouse, have kids, breastfeed, keep a clean house, cook gourmet meals, look hot always, and be a sexual dynamo. Anything less and she has failed as a woman. The part that gets left out is that one person can’t possibly do all of that. Not well, anyway.…

I can’t think of a single good example in my social circles. At least not any that I know well enough - beyond “he works and she stays home and she seems ok from the handful of times I’ve seen her”. I am pretty close with a couple that has been married over 20 years and they are a train wreck. They’ve each cheated and been caught. I totally agree. Adoption is a norm in my family. My grandfather (dad’s dad) was adopted. My grandmother (mom’s mom) was raised with an adopted sibling. My parents adopted my brother. My other brother adopted a daughter. I always figured I would adopt. Life didn’t pan out that way. I still feel like I would adopt or foster if my husband were to die. (He isn’t interested) Giving up a child for adoption is a beautiful and selfless act. Consider it.

I am married to a surgeon and therefore our social circle includes many physicians. Female doctors who hold out for a man who can match their earnings abound... and they are single. Find him during training or you probably won’t find him. Men who earn lots of money aren’t looking for a woman who also has a demanding career. They don’t need that. On the flip side, we know a handful of female doctors whose husband’s are the stay at home spouse. I’m not sure if such a thing is compatible with TRP. …

Yowza! Med school and training caused the death of my current husband’s first marriage. It’s a nightmare and I get that. But 8 years of undergrad and he hasn’t even started Med school? Have you guys been living on loans? I’d have a hard time being accepting of a man putting me through such a tough time, spending so much time and money, and then just up and changing his mind. I would not have been comfortable giving up my career if my husband didn’t make a considerable amount of money. If I hadn’t given up my career I wouldn’t have felt the need to nurture my relationship by showing appreciation for his contributions and bending over backwards to keep him happy (belly full, balls empty, house an orderly sanctuary that he is happy to come home to). With 5 kids in the house, (one is a pescatarian and another is an extremely picky eater - effectively vegetarian since he refuses to try any meat) meal time is a constant source of stress. When my husband asked me today what I planned to do for dinner I actually responded: “I’m considering opening my veins and just giving these bloodsuckers what they really want.” Ok. The only time in my life that I was big was after having babies. I gained 70lbs during my first pregnancy and (SURPRISE!) the baby was only 8lbs9oz. It took years for me to figure out what to do to get back down to a normal weight. MyFitnessPal was key. Logging my intake showed me a clear picture. I had a boredom eating problem. I think my husband has some of the same tendencies as yours. One huge difference: he is aware of it, has sought treatment for depression, is medicated, and when he’s having a rough patch he makes it a point to remind me that his mood is not about me, it’s a chemical imbalance in his brain. Sometimes cheating is a symptom of an already very broken relationship. A marriage suffering from a dead bedroom, for example. Other times cheating is just a part of someone’s personality. I prefer an introvert mate. I have been with an extrovert “life of the party” guy. Guess who was ignored while he was working the whole damned room? Me! I’m not the girl who loves being the center of attention. I have one on one conversations and hop from person to person. I wouldn’t call myself an introvert. Ok. Yeah. Getting and staying fit is much easier when you don’t have to work full-time. Undeniably. What do you appreciate about your husband? What do you think he appreciates about you? To be honest, at your height, being rigid about getting a man taller than you is going to seriously limit your dating pool. (Perhaps less so in a Scandinavian country, but it will have an impact.) I’m 5’6” and I strongly prefer men taller than me. However, that means I’m attracted to men who are at or above average (5’9” being average in the US). I totally agree with your first point. It is something my husband and I have discussed on numerous occasions. My husband told me today that sometimes I’m a pain in the ass. I asked him to clarify so that I could try and improve. His answer was that his life would be easier if he could sit at home and not worry about anyone else’s happiness and the fact that he wants me to be happy stresses him out sometimes. Amy Schumer is a horrible example. She has too much self esteem maybe, but she’s crying into her Benjamins about any negatives in her life. While I agree with you that male self esteem is trampled on in our current culture, the fact is that Amy Schumer has 1000% a chance of being happy vs her “looks match” male. Why shouldn’t she capitalize on that? I’m not really sure how this relates to RP. It’s honestly more black pill.

Yeah. Growing up I saw my grandmother basically treated as a house pet. Her opinion was not valued. She was there to tend to the home and provide companionship/sex. My grandfather actually remarked at one point that “the only thing worse than a woman who thinks she is pretty is a woman who thinks she is smart”. I’m honestly not trying to disparage my grandfather. He took excellent care of his wife. I take excellent care of my dog. Same same right? I think there are many benefits to being a house…

Oh geez. Our love was a sordid tale of lots of fun (hiking, kayaking, beach trips) but it always led to sex. Honestly, I think now that we know about this stuff, he would worry I was treating him as a Beta Bux except for the fact that we were going at it like rabbits in the beginning. Ours was not a model RP relationship. Like I said, we came to that later.

I thought my current husband was just going to be a hook up. I made a joke about “happily ever after” while I was making his bed one morning. He responded “I don’t see why not” Making a mans bed as an act of service was one of the earliest feminine traits I picked up. I stumbled into red pill - probably more like I was dragged kicking and screaming Best wishes.

Basically that certain provisions cease to apply after a set amount of time. So I waived my right to alimony if we get divorced in the first 10 years. After that I can ask for alimony. (In my state you would almost never be granted alimony in the first place unless you were married 10+ years)

I signed a prenup. We both have kids from previous marriages. It just made sense. That being said, he waited WAY too long before the prenup was presented and agreed upon. I could easily challenge it based on the fact that I signed “under duress” (basically if the prenup happened after the wedding invites went out). I don’t anticipate that being an issue. Also, ours has a sunset clause after 10 years.

I do trust my husband. I have always trusted him to the extent that I was capable. (I was raised with some very negative messages about men. We do Hawaii every other year. It started off as every year but we decided to alternate with different destinations once we felt we had seen most of what the islands had to offer. We live in Florida so we also have ample opportunity to rent beach houses and just chill closer to home. That’s always nice. Charleston is lovely and so is Savannah, but I wouldn’t go to either one in the summer. Too much walking around town in high heat and humidity. If you opt for a small sleepy romantic Southern tow…

Geez. This brought back a recent kind of traumatic experience for me. Husband and I went for a hike that was essentially like walking upstairs for 25+ floors and then back down. Already at high altitude from the start. We were with a couple that was more used to hiking at high altitudes. My husband just generally has better stamina than I do. I was winded. Practically hyperventilating trying to keep up. Ended up sitting down and having a quick cry at one point. Husband, who was pretty far ahead …

I think 8 months is too soon for your situation. I’m not 100% on feeling that you need to be engaged first, but I wouldn’t move in with a man who has roommates. It’s just an extra layer of complications that no couple needs as they are navigating cohabitation. Talk to him. If you aren’t able to openly and honestly convey your desires and expectations, he can’t read your mind and meet them. At 8 months (and considering your ages) you are still vetting. Take it seriously. Can this man provide? Is …

I expect my husband to drive, but sometimes he’s tired or bored with it and he asks me to drive. That’s fine too. He expects me to fold the laundry. If I’m tired or bored with folding laundry, he will not step in. Relationships are full of expectations. Many of them gender based. It’s up to all of us to decide for ourselves which we accept and which we reject. All 3 of your scenarios would be turn offs to the point of deal breakers for me. I can’t even answer.

Well it’s obvious that the wife is being insulting to her husband in regard to his ability to handle home repairs. It’s called pegging and many very heterosexual men enjoy it. If you encounter the issue again, perhaps reading on kink related forums might help you reconcile your unease. If not, it’s perfectly fine for you to have things that you are not interested in doing. Better to clarify that early rather than go down a rabbit hole and try to back out. Statistically, marriages that occur at or after 28 years of age are less likely to end in divorce. Yes, start seriously vetting at 23. Have a long engagement. Make sure he is established in his career and able to provide. Commit for life at 28.

You don’t mention your age, but I’m assuming you are young. 21ish tops? It really sounds like you’re just not that into him anymore. What you want at 16 isn’t always right for you at 21. And you will be a completely different person at 30. I think it would be wise for you to wait until you are in your later 20s before you commit to anyone for life. I know this isn’t the advice you want. Forcing yourself into a box that isn’t comfortable isn’t a good long term solution in my opinion.

I think you need to just calm down. Your insecurity is going to be REALLY unattractive if he picks up on it. Be you. Be confident. He probably barely remembers 80% of those encounters and only remembers the other 20% because of how awful they were. Casual sex is rarely good sex. Good sex involves knowing a person well enough that things come naturally. In the future (assuming this guy doesn’t work out) I’d recommend not inquiring about n count. Nothing good comes from that conversation.

It is interesting to me that none of your Chads are successful in any way other than getting pussy. To me a Chad has more to offer than a cock. Often he is a great salesman. I read here because I feel that defined traditional gender roles are a net positive in most relationships. I do not believe that patriarchy is a net positive for society. Property should follow the mother’s line logically. Edit: Not that I’m suggesting that become the case going forward. It’s just one example of why patriarchy makes no se…

I read The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands on a lark. It resonated with me. After I began talking about it my husband read it. It’s a quick easy read. It resonated with him too. Now I stay at home and he’s thrilled with that. It wasn’t something either of us ever envisioned until it happened. Disclaimer: We are much old…

I think the best you could hope for at this point is perhaps a 5 year plan, if he’s open to that. It sounds like he doesn’t have the same values as you do when it comes to traditional gender roles. That could change with the right influences, perhaps. Do you have friends that SAH? Maybe spending time around men who are appreciative of their SAHWs would open his eyes a bit.

It sounds like he really appreciates you and that’s great. My husband and I actively try to cultivate and acknowledge our appreciation for each other. We don’t ever want to be taken for granted. I think support can play out in many ways. One thing I like to keep in mind is that I have lots of people in my life that I can vent to when I need that, but he really only has me. So if he is dealing with a tough work situation, I’m his sounding board. I actively listen, ask questions, and throw out tho…

My husband didn’t have the slightest interest in my N count. Likely he assumes it is quite high. I was 35 when we met. We mutually pretend to be each others’ firsts. Which is comical considering that we both have children from previous marriage. It works for us.

Interesting read. I met my husband on OKC. I was only on there for 4 days. In that time I answered hundreds of the questions that determine match percentages. It paid off. We are a great match. We agree on politics. We share the same views on religion. Neither of us were particularly interested in having more kids. Etc. It would have taken me a long time to get to know someone organically in the way I was able to get to know him by reading through his answers. I felt like at that point in my lif…

I too came to RP post divorce. I was primed by Dr Laura and listening to her advice that was so opposite to everything I wanted to hear. And also it was truth. The moment I felt LIED TO was when I realized that feminism morphed while I wasn’t watching. Maybe I wasn’t born when it happened. Feminism initially: You CAN do ANYTHING. Feminism now: You MUST do EVERYTHING. Like... wtf? I can be a great mom or a great employee or a great wife. I can’t be all three. Why did “feminism” sign me up for all…

I like a man who gets it when I joke about a song or cartoon we grew up with. I’ve dated older and younger. I prefer one in my age bracket. I would also caution, because I’ve read the responses and your responses, you have NO CLUE what it’s like to deal with an ex wife and step kids until you live it. That is hard. It’s not the normal “baggage”. This “baggage” comes before you. Before your wants. Before your needs sometimes. Go in with your eyes open. Second marriages involving kids from previou…

I always end up WAY over cooking when I have that many people. I cook for 40 somehow. Anyway, jot down a menu of what you want. Appetizers that can be prepped in advance and/or heated up briefly are great. A dip in a crock pot is generally a winner. Does your husband man the grill? That could be a great way to have him help and get him out of your stress bubble.

I came to RP later in life. It’s a long story, but suffice to say that I now see clearly. Earlier in my life I read Sex At Dawn which is essentially a polyamory manifesto. The book pointed out that a monogamous pair bond is really only important when it comes to inheritance. Once we converted from hunter/gatherer societies to agricultural societies, the ownership of lands and assets became paramount. Thus female virginity/fidelity and ultimately marriage evolved an importance where those things …
